Hi,
My wife has a OPT and like it, for 3 months now.
few days ago she updated to Oxygen 2.1.2.
Yesterday, not sure if related or not, she noticed that the DATA connection is not going above GPRS.
We tried to install clean 2.1.1, 2.1.2 all over, reset to factory, clear data+cache, change setting, new APN, change over *#*#4636#*#*, nothing works
Any idea what to do next ?
Damn OP and their QA.

Hi everyone,
Apologies if this is covered somewhere and I've missed it, but I'm in a bit of a pickle here.
After running Registry Wizard for the first time, I suddenly have no Data Access. I didn't change anything to do with the GPRS network, but I'm getting the "Cannot connect with current connection settings" error. Upon checking the Comm Manager, the Data Access icon isn't even an option.
I'm running an MDA G3 with the latest official update from T-Mobile's website. I've been thinking about going to WM6 and if a hard reset is required, I might as well.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is an RTFM question.
Jason
same issue here and no data access after wm6 upgrade. I have been traveling across country and they told me i had the wrong plan (t zones) made some backend change and it works.. however with registry wizard i restored after using it and it worked fine - it DEFINITELY does something with the latest tmo rom that kills data access, unfortunately i was in a crunch and had no time ti figure out what that was - turning everthing off didn't repair it either - i ended up having to reset.
Problems
my settings were working fine, then I made some changes yesterday and no data access, tried everything, numerous soft resets, then 2 hard resets, eventually I did no reinstall Registry Wizard and everything is fine.
Well, I ended up needing a refresh from T-Mobile. It's working fine now. The tech I talked to was super cool. She said they were NOT going to update the MDA to WM6 and that she had "already done it herself" a few weeks ago.
So, at least I didn't have to hide anything.
Speaking of, where in WM6 do I need to enter the data for the MMS server?
I woke up this morning and my phone is not showing an E or 3G or even a G for that matter
At the lock screen it shows I'm registered on T-mobile network. I can place and receive calls/texts.
I can't access anything that uses data though. I've tried rebooting the phone and doing a battery pull.
This has me baffled.
This happened to me today too. I wasn't using any data so I thought nothing of it till a bit later when I restarted my phone and when it booted back up 3G came back on and the icon came back.
My theory is that the phone only tries to reconnect every once in a while to the Internet when the service goes down so it probably was just down when you tried before.
Can anyone confirm that this was a system wide Internet outage? Or regional? (Philly for me here)
Still no icons for me. i'm in alabama.
In my haste to figure it out I did a factory wipe/reset hoping to solve the problem. It didn't help. Now I can't sign into my gmail because it can't connect.
Still looking for help here if anyone can offer any
try checking your apns
Check your apns under settings>mobile networks> apns
Should say internet2.voicestream.com as on of the apns. Do a Google search to find the correct alms if you don't have T-Mobile
Hey, thanks for trying to help but it came back on its own just now. After i ended a call the E flashed for a second and then 3G popped back up and has been fine ever since. To bad I had to go all day without my data.
oh, and as far as I know my APN has always been epc.tmobile.com it works fine.
I am experiencing the same problem in France. Apparently it comes from the cyanogen mode (wether it is version 404, 418 or 4.10.1). When I install it everything's fine for a few hours and then the E/G/3G disappears most of the time, just showing (less than 1sec) every now and then. I can call, text but no mms/web/market dl ...
I tried a backup, wipe and reboot. Everything works, but a few hours later ...
If I restore the backup it still won't get 3G...
Is the only answer to wait and see ?
Great, I just installed the "CME_DHD2_COMPACT_v1.6_CWM_ODEX_RAM" ROM and I do not have any APN entry at all.
Apologies if this has been posted before, I have tried to find topics similar, but have found no resolution thus far.
My X10's data was working perfectly, then about 2 weeks ago, market stopped working at "Starting Download" never completed, and I couldn't download Apps! This suddenly fixed itself one night randomly, and all my apps downloaded and installed, but instantly the market problem continued when I tried to use it again!
Now, the 3G/2G connection is totally non existent, there is NO icon at the top.. I have tried restarting the phone, turning it off and on, sim and battery out, even calling O2 to get correct APN settings (Server field is black, is this right?) and I got no "green light" beside "mms" at the APN type field..
The signal was fantastic before, and my family are still getting 3G connection on their phones, so I ahve no idea what the problem is.. I installed a few battery saving things which Iv since uninstalled.. but i have no clue what to do!
Any help would be much appreciated.. Thankyou!
suggest backing up your apps and then doing a factory data reset.. it's a pain in the proverbials but worked for me when this happened a couple of months ago.
How do I go about doing this mate? Any easy way?
Hi - Before you do this.. Can I just check something.. have you check in your network settings that it's not switched off... settings; wireless controls; mobile networks; MMS and data (needs to be on!).. and network mode - best to have it on GSM/ WCDMA Preferred to make sure... otherwise.... to answer your question above..
That will depend on whether you've already downloaded a file/ app manager such as ASTRO which will allow you to back up the apps.... if not you'll just have to make a note of which ones you want to reinstall and re load them after you've reset the phone.. the reset is done in the settings menu - sd card and phone storage - factory data reset... it will reset your phone back to how is was when you first got it though..
I'm in Japan for a couple of weeks for work and signed up for the Japan pack that Sprint offers. I spent almost an entire week working with Sprint support ( ) trying to get data roaming working properly on the phone without much luck (voice and text worked great), but yesterday I lost all connectivity but wifi. Figuring I must have changed something I shouldn't have, I saved everything I could and did a hard reset on the phone.
It still won't connect to any networks. I've re-downloaded PRL and device configs over wifi in the settings but it doesn't even attempt to connect to any wireless networks, or see any for that matter.
I have 2 guesses here but I'd like some kind of confirmation here before I take any action.
1: Maybe my radio firmware is corrupted somehow? I'm not exactly sure how to check it but it just doesn't seem to be doing much of anything. In the SIM status page it says searching for network, but I have no way to know if that's really the case.
2: Since the phone has a Sprint SIM, does it has to be on an actual Sprint network to initialize the networks? (Not Softbank's network here in Japan?) I spent over an hour on Google Voice with them last night trying to get an answer/help but got absolutely nowhere.
The phone is currently all stock but I have no problem unlocking and installing recoveries/software/roms if need be. Any ideas what I can do here or am I just stuck without communication until I get home next week?
Usually the best route is to get a local prepaid sim while traveling but honestly I have no idea what sprint offers for roaming in Japan. Check your plan and see if there is an add on needed.
I'm not alone!
Also THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE!
It worked fine for me last time I came to Japan, about a year ago. This time, I only have voice and text, no data. Right now I'm backing everything up to do a factory reset.
Did you ever find a solution to this?
I'm not sure if you've already done your factory reset, but if you're on Sprint, don't do a reset. The phone can't reactivate itself off of Sprint towers. You have to be in the US when you do the reset. I was stuck with WiFi only for most of my time there because I reset mine.
I never found a solution other than dropping Sprint when I got back to the states. Switched to Verizon and never looked back, though I'm not sure what I'm going to do for my next trip with their ridiculous international rates.
I actually got it working last night.
Factory reset and restore over wifi
Update device config over wifi -> handles activation
Update PRL over wifi 3 times
Now it works
Oh, I'm glad it worked. Is yours on Sprint?
Yes, but I may have spoken too soon. It worked for a few hours and now isn't getting back on data. I think it may be SIM related, since I saw a weird SIM error pop up and rebooted my phone, which led to the data working the first time
They must have redone their activation system since I had my issue in July. At that time there was no way for the phone to reactivate without being on Sprint's system.
As far as the data, that's the same thing I had happen and they were never able to solve the problem. It would work for a little while then stop for no reason. If you find a solution I'd love to hear it though.
I'm wondering if I can flash a different radio or something
OK so a few weeks ago I downgraded from Nougat preview 5 back to 6.0.1. When I did this, suddenly I was having issues with only being able to get HSPA instead of LTE. I called AT&T and they pushed information to my phone for what I am assuming was a SIM card config. After that, LTE came back till last night. Again it started acting up so I called and was basically told your on a unlocked phone, go fish. So after that I continued to research and aligned my APN settings to what was in article published by AT&T for setting up the APN on non AT&T devices. LTE came back and since then I have had no issues getting LTE (knock on wood). The two items I changed in the APN was removing the fota from APN type and setting APN protocol to IPv4 only. Previously it was the combined setting for IPv4 and IPv6. I also in the last few days upgraded to the final version of Nougat.
However what really still bugs me is what happened during the downgrade to start all of this..... Prior to this I had this Nexus 6P for 7 months and never had a LTE connection issue. Any thoughts? I am going to be traveling to Canada and Mexico, anyone see any issues with my config for International travel? I posted screenshots of my settings.
Thanks in advance!
downgrades are notorious for messing things up. my advice, under apn options, reset to default, and then delete everything except att nextgenphone, reboot, go to back up and reset settings and do a network settings reset. should sort you out.
oh, and wait to connect to wifi until it actually connects to LTE first

Question on the last part under network settings, if I do that reset does it wipe the configuration on the SIM card. The wording gives me a 50/50 perspective on it doing that.

Can't be 100% sure
From experience, android doesn't mess with the SIM card on its own. Usually the carrier has to push changes. The fact that it worked before and stopped working after downgrade seems to point to the fact that their was never and issue with the SIM. It was an os issue... But do what you're comfortable with, if it ain't broke...
Keep these instructions for if it ever screws up again
