Hi, I am very new to the whole android scene especially since I just got my android hero this weekend. My question is that my dad has an android and english isnt his best language so I was curious if there was a chinese android 1.5 for Sprint Hero? I seen some pictures of it.

not sure if sprint has muti-languages on there device.But check under settings> locale and text > select locale. And see if there's any other languages to choose.
When I was messing around with PNG files from the new Pancake ROM, I DID find a Phone apk that has Chinese symbols on it. I'm not sure at all though how you could enable that.
You can install MoreLocale, then select chinese as your UI language.
But there is a serious problem in sprint factory rom that it can not send unicode SMS corretly. The receiver will see messy code when u send chinese SMS.
This problem exists in all of Android 1.5 roms on XDA forum, and it is resolved in all of Android 2.1 roms. As u know, 2.1 roms are still in test.
Luckly, there is worked 1.5 rom in the world. This issue is resolved by chinese developer.

I'm not sure about the stock ROM but in the 2.0 AOSP ROM I'm running right now I can easily change languages and there are two Chinese options (I'm assuming one is traditional and the other is simplified.)
Menu > Settings > Language & Keyboard.
Might be worth upgrading your dad to a 1.6 AOSP ROM for at least. (I suggest 1.6 since everything, pretty much, works in those ROMs.)

Does 1.6 have chinese support? Also if the rom2.0 has chinese does this mean the upcoming 2.1 patch from sprint will have chinese or they'll try to condense the size and put only english/spanish again.

Op could download one apk named customlocal to change the display language. It doesn't change all the menu to Chinese. But it could be used daily. You could download this apk through baidu or the other Chinese andriod forum.
No matter what rom I use, Market keeps on crashing. I've tried using FullWipe and it's still crashing.
The rom's I've flashed: CM7 Nightly #219 & #220, Experimental 7.1, and the latest Helios.
All I want is a stock android feel, but now it's not playing nice. I was coming from a Sense 3.5 rom.

Try clearing market data or installing a new market. If that doesnt work, try logging in with a different google account.

read somewhere in the forum that you need to check the language of the system.. change it to English instead of the DI (something like this). Hope it helps.

That's right. Some builds of MIUI Freshly Squeezed Edition cause the Android Market to crash, but as per the FAQ:
Q. My Market is FC'ing?
Just go to Menu > Settings > System > Language & Input Settings
And change your language to English (United States)
I'm not sure if this is nex7er's particular problem but yes, it's good to try.

(Because I always accidentally put my finger on them when I'm playing something :silly
Third and last question So, I tried my friend's Galaxy S3 and it had very cool option wich could modify the appearance (is that correct word?) of that notification light on top of the screen. Is there some way I can also do that with my U8800 pro?

How to quickly change from Chinese to English-
After you successfully boot into the ROM, don't do anything, just pull down the notification drawer and press the settings icon on top right-hand corner.
When settings open, swipe left to open complete settings.
Scroll to "Keyboard icon", tap it.
From the next page that comes, tap on the first field and choose English!
I installed RAM Manager Pro and selected the preset "Hard Gaming".. as a result, Temple Run and Asphalt 7 are working!! :laugh:

paste this on system/etc and give all 9
permissions.. then reboot! :victory:
(this will eliminate all lags in Temple Run! and improve your AnTuTu score too)

This changelog is for all phones, in general, that are officially supported by MIUI.. Can't say if its applicable to our phone too..

An AUTO CALL RECORD option was available in MIUI GB ROMs which recorded voice calls automatically in background. This option is not found in MIUI V4. Has it been removed?
Secondly I think MIUI V4 are based on ICS. Is there any MIUI ROM based on JB for our 8800+
I like this feature a lot where you can record the conversation, but it does not any ROM that.

I think there is call record function in this ROM.. I can't confirm it right now..

There is a call recording option which is to be invoked manually from call screen "MORE" option which actually works. But I need that auto option add in MIUI GB. Anyway great ROM by the way.

As far as I know there's no way to edit the toggles which come installed as stock but you could always download an alternative from the Play store.
I know but I tried just a mod, I don't like those applications
