Home button and fingerprint sensor fix - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently i found the way to fix dead home button and fingerprint sensor for the 1+2. This ONLY WILL WORK ON A 1+2 WITH CUSTOM OR CHANGED DPI. And the solution is change back the dpi to the stock one which is 480. I tried this and it work for me at least. Comment down your thoughts and problen down below....

well mine is at 320 and no problem here ^^ a really weird problem

Never changed my DPI, but my home button/fingerprint sensor do not work.

I have the same issue I tried restarting the device, I also did a factory reset with no luck. The only thing that seems to work is holding the power button until the phone shuts off the turn it back on but only works for maybe a day or two and I'm back to a dead home button. Has anyone tried rooting and going back to previous version of Oxygen OS to see if that works?

Please be more detailed. I'm on HydrogenOS and my home key isn't the best responsive. Takes many taps to get the job done. I never chanfed my DPI though.

Shut down the phone... Press volume down+power button till it vibrates... select delete data+cache menu --> Select delete cache from submenu (dont select data or u lose all your data).. reboot the phone.....
if problem not solved.. then delete finger print registrations.. follow above steps... and then re-register finger prints..
this worked for me.

So none of my buttons work except the Comm Manager button...

wtf?! They all worked fine an hour ago (power, camera, talk, softkeys, messages...) and now they don't. It isn't a hardware issue because when it goes into standby, I can press the power button to bring it out of standby. Now though, I can't open anything using their respective keys and can't power it off. Anyone have any issues like this? I hadn't installed anything or even been using the phone from the time they worked to the time they stoped working.
Try opening settings -> buttons ->lock and click in "dont lock keys"
Had similar problems that now for some reason went away.

Unfortunately, I tried that and it didn't fix it. It's so odd that the Comm Manager button works when the phone is on and that the power button will work to turn it on or to wake it up. Are there places in the registry that control what the buttons do? Maybe I need to reset this thing? I love this phone when it isn't locking or acting up.
So I reset the phone to it's factory settings. After I went through the calibration and setup, the keys still weren't working. Before I did the reset, I did notice the keyboard keys weren't working either . So after the reset, the buttons still weren't working. I kept just typing stuff in on the keyboard with Word open and it finally started working...all buttons are still working now, but I don't trust it much. Should I bring it in to Cingular to get a new one? I'm still within my 30 days
Yes. If you can get a new one do it. do it.

Touch screen and soft key buttons at the bottom not working.

As the title says. It's been like this for about 24 hours. I am able to receive calls and text messages but cannot access anything apart from the home screen with the clock. The volume button on the side also works as it is a hard button.
This happened after I was viewing web pages on the handset yesterday, I didn't close Opera and just switched the screen off via the top button then when I came back to it, the touch screen wasn't working at all. After several resets the problem resumes.
Any ideas how I can resolve this problem?
Many thanks

are you using max's theme maker?
if so you may have have selected the wrong tf3d manila version when you're customising. i've never been able to fix it once its been done.

Sounds like a hardway problem rather than software then, so I'd recommend returning phone under warranty

Screen wakes up all the time

Hey there,
I've a big issue for a few months already.
My S4 jflte always wakes up whenever the screen turns off.
I tried to figure out where it's caused by and when I cut off the soft buttons (home/menu/back) and started the phone, the screen didn't wake up anymore.
As far as I know there is no way to repair this w/o damaging the screen itself.
So could I block the buttons from waking up the screen?
As you can see when a app is opened and the screen turns off automatically and turns on again, the home screen appears and puts the app in the background.
youtube(.)com/watch?v=Bhul9UMJ8l4 (I don't have 10 posts yet so I have to post it this way. Sorry)
Could anyone help me? I've been researching for a long time and found no solution.
Says video not found.
Are you on a stock rom?
The Video is working fine for me. Did you copy the whole link and did you remove the brackets? ( )
I'm on AOSP 6.0.1 Kernel 3.4.110-Alucard-PWR-CORE from JDCTeam.
I tried different ROMs so far (including the Stock) and it's definitely a hardware issue.

have you been doing full wipes inbetween roms ? if you have then maybe it's a hardware issue.
Yes, I've always done full wipes. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue. Is there any way to block the keys from waking up the phone? I usually use the power button anyways to wake up the phone.
You can probably disable the keys altogether. Or maybe just the menu and back key, and leave only the home button functional.
There is no way to do it with that rom yet, but you could use Xposed and Gravity Box.
Most apps nowadays offer inbuilt menu and back options anyway.
Before you try to disconnect any buttons, try to clean the phone. That has solved many problems in the past.
Look for disassemble S4 videos on youtube, and for cleaning use a small paintbrush, or a very soft toothbrush, and Isoprophyl Alcohol(70% clean alcohol, 30% pure water), you can buy that in the Apotheke.
Clean the board an all other reachable electronics. Let it dry, reassemble and see if it helped.
Thanks for the tips, but I've already done that before (twice) without success.
I'm looking for a way to disable the keys from waking up the screen. I've tried it with the key configuration files in the system, but it didn't work.
Example: When I press the home button the screen wakes up. I just want to disable the wake up for all buttons except for the power button.
Does anyone know a app for this? Or a mod for xposed?
There is no actual "wake up" function assigned to the back and menu key. Only the home button has one. So there's nothing you can disable, except for the keys altogether. I already suggested you how to do that in the 5th reply to this thread.
I've found a work-around. I disabled the keys with 'Xposed Additions' while the screen is turned off or locked.
Thanks alot for your help guys!

Finger print scanner needs to be pressed to wake up phone before it will unlock it.

When I go to unlock the phone with fingerprint i need to physically press down, I thought it may be ROM issue but I went back to stock and still a problem, has anyone else had this happen, it works so it's not dead.
I think the press down to turn on screen method is standard. I've always had to do press the fingerprint/home button to turn on the screen, and the fingerprint recognition/unlock happens simultaneously.

this is standard as long as the screen is tuned off. If screen is on the fingerprint is read without the button being depressed
Yes, the FPS only works when the screen is on. Normal. Cuts down on battery drain by not keeping the FPS live all the time.

U Ultra broken fingerprint

My fingerprint so home button suddenly stopped working yesterday. Despite of switching between lots of roms the situation has not changed. What might be happened? How do I determine whether it is hardware based problem or not ? Fingerprint unlock option does not seem in the lockscreen security section. Thanks in advance.

1. Are the other touch buttons working? (Back and recents)
2. Is the fingerprint button very dirty, or had been scratched?

1. Yes; back and recents buttons are working.
2. I dont think so. Looks solid and clear.

It will recover itself after some time and after a phone reboot.
