Hi folks,
I finally buyed this long awaited phone yesterday, coming from a 2012's HTC Sensation. In between I had also several new Samsung devices. All went good, getting that b*ner at unpacking was expected haha. It feels like you have a gold bar (obviously I buyed the gold version)in your hands. Love this precisley built piece of technic and design.
But there my euphoria ends abruptly.
I used to hear music, surfing web, look videos on YouTube. And then? I feel it there's more but I can't see it.
"What to do now?" I asked myself.
Hitted XDA for root + custom kernel. Still don't know what to do now.
Searched on web for nicest games. Installed. Not impressed.
This is definitely one of the most advanced devices today but I really don't know what to do with such advance.
So my question is, does anyone here has the same problem or even better suggestions what to do with such a gold bar?
Your help is appreciated!

didn't understand what you trying to say.
are you saying S6 edge+ Plus not being pushed to it's limits?
Here you go:
http://tasker.dinglisch.net/download.html
Install this...read a lot, and practice a bunch, the learning curve feels steep at first. Best support ever right here . It's like learning to ride a bike... takes some effort and then "it clicks"...
S6e+ potential, unleashed.
AT&T S4 i337 > SafeRoot > SafeStrap 3.71 > HyperDrive RLS12

Do you want to root your phone or what? I am sorry I am unable to understand your question.

Hi,
In case it helps, I have an up-to-date Galaxy Note 2 ROM list kept here, which includes the GT-N7100, N7105 models.
Someone was asking for a list in the AT&T section, so I thought I'd post this info in each section to tell people.
It's kind of a hobby, but it's kept up-to-date pretty much every day.
Some of you might find it useful.
That's some serious consolidation done there m8! Great job, surely helps!
Thanks.
Just a quick bump in case it can help anyone out who doesn't know about it.
Super awesome. If you could just sort it base wise like touchwiz and aosp.
this is XXXDDDAAA
Hi,
It came to my attention that I'd forgotten to add a few roms from the `Original Android Development' sections for the different carriers.
Sorry about that. Those roms have now been added.
Just a quick bump. The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still regularly updated.
I hope it continues to help people out. As usual most of the ROMs are here at XDA.
Thanks.
Note 2 ROMs
cool thanks
I'm still using my Note 2 (believe it or not). The Galaxy Note 2 ROMs list is still going strong, too - although it has gotten easier with less ROM development.
(This is kind of a thread bump. I'm looking to switch to a Galaxy S8 Edge in the near future, if they are any good.)

Sorry for the boring reply, but I would recommend whichever one you try and like.
MIUI is nice for a change sometimes. Here in Japan, we were limited as to which ROMs we could flash, so I eventually went back to the latest ROMs from the carrier (DoCoMo).
The Galaxy Note 2 is still a nice phone. I'm looking forward to changing devices in the coming months, after having stayed with the Note 2 since it came out.
I pay quite a bit each month here for my phone, so it makes sense to benefit from a newer device if I'm still paying quite a bit each month.
The Note 2 still does everything I need it to do. But after trying other devices in the stores, I realize that they are quicker, lighter, and it's important to freshen up life with new experiences. (I'm kind of old fashioned, so I have to remind myself to change every few years.)
(It can also be tricky getting a 24 month contract when you live abroad and rely on renewing your visa annually.)
.. Go with whichever ROM you like, and read the threads and see how much enthusiasm there is for each one.

Do you know the main ROM thread for that? (It doesn't have to be XDA.)
For example: This thread links to these files.
That ROM you posted the link to is dated as more recent, so it would be nice to know the thread it belongs to.
Thanks.
I dont think theres even a thread but therom works fine. I flashed it some days back @Grant Barker
Only the buttons backlight doesn't work. Other than that everything works fine.

OK. I've asked around, and I'll see if anyone knows or updates a related thread.
Thank you.
Thanks a lot.

I am switching from Sprint to AT&T, as I already said in the subject, and I am looking for some QUICK opinions.
As most people probably have gone through this when buying their phone, I am debating on the S4 Active or the HTC One.
Upon coming onto here though, I was leaning more toward the HTC One because I like several things about it, more than the normal S4 and S4 Active, and because most of the S4 software features I don't really care about; I'm an EVO 3D owner, so I know how the gimmicks go. Nonetheless there are things that do attract me to the S4 Active over the One
I noticed the difference in activity for the S4 vs the One is SIGNIFICANT. ~13.5k posts for the S4 and ~3.6k posts for the One. Why is this? Are there that many junk postings\ROMs\etc or is it really just THAT active in this community? Is this section the same area to go to for the S4 Active device w/ AT&T?
- How is battery life? This is more geared toward the S4 \ S4 Active veteran users as I don't care how long your battery is lasting after you got your phone just a week ago lol
- How is NORMAL everyday use of the camera\camcorder?
- Are there significant amounts of SOLID daily drivers that are varying in style and operation? (ROMs)
- For the Active, how is call quality (for both sides), are there any other downsides to the Active edition vs regular S4 or HTC One?
Thanks

OK I'll try to answer most of ur questions there r more posts in the s4 section for two reasons 1 there r two devices using this forum the s4 and the s4 active 2 s4 has sold 20 million devices or so the HTC one about 5 million ( est not exact number from what I read )
Battery close is similar on all 3 devices for a lot of ppl the decidinng factor is the SD card and removable battery which HTC one has neither plus that power button being on top ( u had a evo 3d u mite be used to this )
Daily drivers there is plenty of good ROMs for the s4 and the HTC one
The active is really limited in this aspect since it has yet to acquire custom recovery exploit yet
The s4 has a boot loader exploit so u can use custom recovery as long as u don't update it out of the box mf3 ( plenty of threads on how to freeze att updater )
Out of the total amt of phones sold very few ppl actually flash ROMs a small percent of the android population the galaxy line has always had a lot of devs and ROMs cuz of its awesome specs and likability and ease to root and flash ROMs ( minus boot loader locking which isn't Samsung's fault its the carriers )
Hope this helps u and answers ur questions

Thanks for the fairly detailed response!
I have a couple other questions for you - is the cartoon-like UI their TouchWiz software?
Not to ruffle any feathers but I don't really like that aspect of it.
Also, when you unlock the bootloader and\or root, do you still get the annoying triangle upon boot? My friend had the S III and he had that problem. It didn't affect functionality but it was a bit tacky\annoying.
Yeah I have found AT&T to be root\unlock Nazis, but it seemed to be select devices they like to lock down. Not sure why, because you still have your plan that limits you lol
Thanks again!

TW (TouchWhiz) is samsungs launcher and I wouldn't call it cartoon-like, but if you think so there are alternatives such as launchers from the Play Store, or flashing an AOSP ROM for vanilla Android look and feel.
As far as unlocking the bootloader, there are working methods as to remove the triangle on boot, so don't sweat that.
Hello guys. I am new to this forum (reading a lot, but not writing)
Today I got my S4 i9500 and I am very happy with it. I got my Huawei 8800 pro for 3 years, so you are understand, that I am not a fan of changing my mobiles every year But I am really like to read about changes in mobile world and, of course, reading this forum So I got some questions, that little bit bothering me:
1) I am from Lithuania, Europe and I am thinking of updating to 4.3. Read, that region does not really meter, but would like to confirm this information for i9500.
2) Played some games, almost everything running smoothly, but, for example, in game "Dump ways", when there are level, when need to tap to kill bees, when I got 4 bees on screen, it is getting notable lags, so it is really strange for me, that in such game I am getting lags.
3) I am got 1 year international warranty, so I would not like to loose it, so for a year or maybe half, I am not planning to root my device. So I would like to ask, if rooting your device is boosting it, that "medium use" user can definitely notice changes?
Thank you in advance for answers and sorry, if questions are very "noob like" for you
P.S : Delete please this post, moved to another post.
Hi guys.
I'm new to the forum and own a galaxy s5 plus g901f. I bought the phone new from eBay an unwanted upgrade. The phone was advertised as g900f so I was fairly happy until I discovered I was stuck on touchwiz as there is no support for this modal at all. I can't tell you how much I hate touchwiz and coming from nexus its made me miss aosp even more.
I've always rooted my devices but have little knowledge of making a custom rom. I wanted to ask the clued up folks, could I use a normal s5 aosp ROM and edit it to work on the s5 plus? Would it be quite simple as its similar with a few upgrades? Or would I need to start from scratch?
Any info would be great.
Mike
Best you can do is try the S5 plus specific thread.

My question is simple, since my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is having unfixable issues in the flash memory, i need a replacement with nice S-Pen capabilities. The note 10.1 was very nice for streaming videos, drawing and taking notes, i mean even for a 2014 model it still holds up today, the only downsides are the dev scene is very small and i despise Samsung security measures. Is this tablet a worthy replacement? I mean i've read people complaining about cracks on the touchscreen, if this is a common issue i'm screwed up since this tablet only has its market as an import. Also the dev scene looks small, but i guess i can go with that, i just wanted to be able to root (maybe magisk?) remove a few bloat, customize a little bit and that's all. Share your thoughts and recommendations here folks.

As a matter of fact, I had troubles rooting mine. There was a continuous FC in the keyboard. So i've tried to go back through my nandroid backup, but the tab was in bootloop. So, I finaly decided, for first time in a loooong time, to remain in a non rooted device (even locked bootloader). And I have to say that the tab is doing fine! I'm in love with it. But if you really want to root and change some things, there are more firendly devices than this one...

Oh my goodness this is sad, i had the same issues on my old Galaxy Note, constant FCs all the time. I really enjoy the concept on the Yoga Book, but it seems like it is not getting much dev attention and i'm probably going to try to avoid if possible having to stay OEM with lots of bloat, without adaway and as well trying to optimize the whole device! Magisk doesn't work on YB? Do you happen to have any suggestion on a more friendly to mod device?

There are not lots of bloatware, I should say. Just about 4 Lenovo apps to be used with the digitalizer pad, to make the most out of it, and not bad at all. And it's own launcher (that makes sense to give use to this very special device concept, but it's not much configurable).
You can't use Xposed if not rooted, of course... Using TWRP (not installed, but sideloaded) is easy, as it is to unlock bootloader for that. But for me the nandroid restore didn't worked. For other people, it did, as did the rooting by means of Magisk. Perhaps my problem is that my tab is a spanish one, not basic English keyboard. Not sure if that makes sense.
So, perhaps you could be lucky, but I cannot say for sure. And probably Xposed is not working, since it's not an ARM core, but and Intel Atom X5 whats in...
Then... You have to decide. For the Yoga: I really like it, it's what I needed, and the price I got it by on Black Friday was really nice. But it's a very special device. Yo can go for a Samsung S3 Tab, but's more expensive, and with no keyboard, but probably more developed (noy by Samsung, probably, but by XDA devs).
Or think on a Chrome book with touch screen, or a Transformer laptop (or a Surface), but then using Windows (which I don't use, I'm a linux guy).
Sorry not to be able to say anything more...
