Hey guys, I'm having an issue where my Atrix keeps disconnecting the data connection every few seconds whenever I start using data (browsing, youtube, google music, etc).
When the issue first started I was running ATT 4.5.91 with 01.77.15 Baseband. So far I tried factory reset, reflashing baseband, CM7 Ba2Tf, and right now I'm running on ATT 4.5.133 rooted and deodexed, with 01.77.36P ATT Baseband. I did the update to 4.5.133 and the current radio via CWM after wiping cache, dalvik and data. The problem still occurs.
If I keep my phone idle, it stays connected (blue bars, blue H+ icon and arrows beneath it).
A few seconds after I start browsing the web or using other data intensive tasks it keeps disconnecting the data connection at frequent intervals, every few seconds. It doesn't drop any signal bars, but the H+ and bars turn grey (lost connection to google servers) and doesn't show the Up/Down arrows below H+, meaning it disconnected the data connection. After a few seconds it connects back and everything turns blue again.
It's really annoying and I'm out of ideas. I have tried reflashing everything, another rom, another radion, also tried setting the apns by hand, all to no avail. Some insight would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance.
Sounds like an app problem. The new market did this in it's earlier versions. Would have to reboot or go into and out of airplane mode to reconnect data. What apps are you using when it happens?
In my case, CPU Tuner was causing this behavior.
I think I've set it up incorrectly or something and as soon as I uninstalled it the problem went away, but will try it again soon.

Thanks for the help, guys.
In order to test for an offending app, I cleared /data (factory reset on CWM), cache/dalvik cache and installed the latest CM7 weekly. I did not flash gapps and did not restore/installany third party apps.
The issue still appeared while browsing the web. Then I restored my current rom (att 4.5.133) and left the phone sit for a couple hours. After a while I did a few tests and everything was normal again. Then I went to bed after testing the phone for about one hour and when I woke up the issue was back. Could it be that my carrier has anything to do with it? I'm trying to get a hold of another carrier's SIM with data enable to test it out.
I had this exact issue. I was running CM7 Ba2Tf for several weeks, no problems. Then all of a sudden, my connection to google would drop for no reason at all.
The H+ & signal bars would turn white, indicating that I still had a data connection to AT&T, but no connection to google. Every time I used one of the gapps, the connection to google would drop. This was especially apparent when I was using google talk.
I cleared caches, data, re-flashed, wiped, etc..., and the problem persisted. There was absolutely no way around the problem. I'm baffled that after completing clearing & re-flashing everything, the problem persisted.
I could not find a workaround. I am now running a fruitcake variant, and do not have this problem. I really miss CM7, and am curious to hear if anyone has found a legitimate solution.
It looks like this is not a new bug either. Check out Cyanogen mod issue 3557.
I know that this thread doesn't have much action, but for what it's worth, I don't have this problem on Jokers ICS Roms.
It appears that when this problem manifests itself, it's somewhat rom specific.

Sounds strange, but I had the exact same problem after I installed Chess for Buddies. I removed the app and everything went back to normal. I do miss playing chess though

I have it on Turl's ICS.
That's crazy! Did you have it the instant you flashed the ROM, or were you able to run for a few days?
What were you running beforehand?

I think those having this problem should try removing APNs they are not using, thus only leave the one you are using.
I was having this issue on any application that would load up the GPS, as soon as I deleted all other APNs and just left the one I needed I never had the problem. I think part of the issue is when GPS connected it would quickly knock me out from data but on reconnect it would try the standard ATT APN versus the mvno I am using.
Probably won't help for everyone but that was my solution and it has worked on various ROMs I have tried (Blur, CM7, CM9).
That's a solid observation mastermind.
I would to add that the evening before I started seeing the issue, I enabled tethering on my cm7 the (ba2tf). Pretty much the next day I started seeing the issue.
Perhaps something got screwed up in the APN settings when I tethered. Up until then I hadn't seen the issue.

Using purenexus. On the april build. Noticed alot of background data being used by Android OS in stock settings app so I downloaded 'my data manager' to see if it would give me a more specific culprit.
It seems that every time I reboot my phone, com.quicinc.cne.CNEService uses around 100mb of data.
I usually reboot my phone at home on wifi so ive probably never noticed, but I rebooted my phone about 5 times when I was out the other day so it racked up like 500mb mobile data in a short time.
Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?
1st screenshot is after 5 reboots on mobile data, stock settings app:
2nd screenshot is after 2 reboots on wifi, my data manger app.
Well I found a solution if anyone else runs into this. I tried turning off mobile data and turning it back on but the problem still persisted.
Finally, I turned off mobile data, power cycled the phone, then turned data back on. It's been fine since. No more Android OS background data usage when rebooting!
Must have been a weird glitch.

I have been having the same problem on the same ROM. I will try your suggestion. Hopefully it works.

Unfortunately the solution I posted only worked temporarily. Eventually the problem came back. I tried everything I could think of but nothing worked. I couldn't afford all the data usage so I ended up doing a clean install of pureNexus may update.
Idk if it would've helped but I didn't try reflashing my kernel first. I was on elementalx. What kernel you using?

Yeah the restart without data didn't work for me either. I am on stock kernel. Been trying to avoid a clean install but may need to do that as well. Odd that it seems to be so isolated. I could find very little online about this.
Same here. I was avoiding a clean install too.

I'm getting this on my Nexus 6P as well...completely stock, not rooted.
Has anyone found a solution, aside from a factory reset?
same issue: on Pixel
Huge amounts of data drained thru Android 7.1.2 on a Pixel that is only a few months old.
Never rooted.
Solutions welcomed...
Since days ago, my s8 has been randomly restarting throughout the day. Yesterday it started going off and will not turn on unless I do force restart (Vol down + Pwr). I have tried restarting in Safe mode, Clearing cache Partition and I even did a total factory reset.
This morning the Iris sensor even stopped working. Please what do I do?

Try giving your phone an update via odin.

from my prior experience (have not had this happened to me on this device - yet), but this typically has occurred when the RAM gets overloaded. this can be caused when you have too many applications running at once (background syncing, notifications, etc.).
i'd suggest installing greenify - as that helps hibernate some of those apps that tend to constantly run when you don't need it. also, try going to settings -> device maintenance and pressing the "optimize now" button - that should help clear some of the noise.
good luck.

I just tried installing Greenify. I am really not a heavy phone user. Just whatsapp, mails and browsing on chrome 90% of the time. The phone just restarted on its own again now.

are you showing any notifications prior to it rebooting? sometimes the phone will do that if there is a software update.
go to the settings -> system updates -> check for system updates (do this while on WiFi)
if there is a new update, it's probably rebooting.
not sure if your phone is rooted, but if so, then it won't be able to make those updates. if not rooted (which is what i suspect), then it should take.
if no updates, then I would examine which apps are running in the background by going back to the Device Maintenance setting.

Sad to hear this. Some pointers if it could help you.
- Do you know what is the last operation you did just before this problem started ? Was it an update ?
- Does the restart become less frequent after you wipe the cache ?
- Is it heating up just before the restart happens ?
- Dial *#0*# .. and check for IRIS Scanner and other sensors and see if all is ok.
If you are on warranty, Take it to the service center ASAP.
Regarding Updates, Please do it only via Smart Switch
OR
Take it to the service center and ask them to update it. They should charge you a mere 4$ equivalent if not in warranty
Hi guys,
A very similar problem happened to me. Thursday morning my phone restarted itself and got stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S8 boot screen. Despite holding bixby, volume up and power it won't boot into recovery mode. I can get it into download mode but despite following some guides on here I was unsuccessful at attempting to update/re-flash through Odin. It failed each time.
I'm about resigned to taking it into the Samsung store but wondered if you guys would have any further advice? FRP and OEM lock are on, unfortunately I'm not sure how to turn them off when the phone wont boot.
Kind regards,
Daz
After updating my Moto G5 Plus to Android Oreo 8.1, I am facing many issues with it. Some of them which I noticed so far are-
1. Fingerprint scanner stops working occasionally: It doesn't respond at all sometimes. I had to restart my phone every time to make it work again.
2. Wi-Fi connectivity is not stable: It gets disconnected from Wi-Fi networks very often.
3. Turbo charging is not working: The fast charging is not fast. It takes longer than usual to charge my phone's battery after the update.
4. It's slow: It has become slow after the update. Very slow in responses. Even deleting a text message takes 10 seconds.
Do we have fix for these issues?

Have you tried backing-up your data and performing a factory reset?
Which ROM version did you update to?
Mine is nothing like this, that's strange. But, my Whatsapp has now a bug, I can't take photos inside a chat anymore, the camera just doesn't shoot. I have to open the Cam app normally, take a photo and then attach it to the conversation.

Same. I've noticed that if you switch to front camera and then back to back camera it will work inside the chat.

I did have the WiFi bug...very irritating to say the least...no other problems though...you should back up your data and do a factory reset...might help...didn't help me with the WiFi issue..But. I guess that was due to weak wifi signals...in a strong wifi zone it doesn't disconnect..
Hope it gets fixed.

Is there any patch for Volte on Airtel & Vodafone networks in India for the latest stock Oreo build ?? Volte turns out to be really useful and till now only Reliance Jio supports VOLTE in India.

Been on Oreo for a few months... I have had none of these problems.
I have seen some delays in editing, but nothing like 10 seconds... switching to Swiftkey cleared it up... Google keyboard seemed to be the cause.
Close all the background apo which uses camera feature such as instagram, Snapchat then try

I'm on stock Oreo and I have this weird Wi-Fi issue where it disconnects, even when my device is literally next to the Router. After the update, I have done a Factory reset but this annoying issue still exist. I am ready to flash a custom ROM if it can solve the WiFi issue.

Hey,
My WiFi issue seems to have resolved without having to flash a custom rom..I didn't do anything in particular apart from factory reset a couple of times(incidentally)...flashing a custom rom should definitely help you with the issue..

This is a well documented issue with the Lineage 15.1 Oreo ROM, at least on my Samsung tablet. Makes me wonder if it's a bug in the Oreo code.
Hey Guys!
First post. Just bought Oneplus 6T 8/128 yesterday. Such a awesome device but the problem I'm facing is with Playstore. Suddenly it's not downloading anything over Wifi/4G data connection. I tried clearing the data for Playstore/Play Services. Restarted the phone even tried battery saving. None of this works. Though it works fine sometimes but most of the time it doesn't download.

You can't download any new app? I have noticed that in over one week, not one app has been updated. Every time i check, no updates which I find weird.
Not sure if we have the exact same thing, but for the last few days I also cannot download or update anything. The apps just sit in "Download Pending". Usually i have temporarily fixed it by ending the play store, wiping the storage and cache, rebooting, then letting everything reload in the play store and it will work again for a few days. Happens to me on Data/Wifi/VPN.

Yes happening same to me as well. Though it gets fixed automatically for some time but again I have the issue.
I just got a 6t and for some reason it will connect up to 5Ghz wifi but will not get any data. I can connect up to 2.4Ghz all day long and get on the internet, update everything but if i have wifi/data on connected to 5Ghz wifi - zilch - it's like it has no dns or something. I can see the connection, it gets an ip from the router but...bloop. I tried all the troubleshooting steps. (I also have a OP 6 on same os version and it has zero issues).
It sounds like a Google play services issue. I had a similar problem with my previous device and even when I got my 6tvit persisted. Had to email Google and they updated my play services info. It's sticks with you, whatever it is.
Actually now that I reread your post I think this is exactly the same issue I had.
I had the same issue when I flashed OOS international rom to my 6T T-mobile version. It was solved by relockiing the bootloader.... FYI.
