Running stock unrooted nexus player which after it did the OTA to Marshmallow has been rebooting a lot. Screen will freeze for a few minutes then reboot.
Yesterday, it rebooted but started bootlooping on the google splash screen. I went into fastboot and flashed a fresh copy of the firmware but happened again after about 45 minutes. Any one else have this happen/suggestions?

Hello,
I had android 4.3 on my nexus 7. I am rooted with unlocked bootloader with TWRP 2.6.3.0. I saw an update for 4.4.2. I told it to apply and it booted into TWRP and applied the update. Upon reboot, I get the Google logo screen for a bit. Then it flashes and the logo shows up again. Then it reboots into TWRP. I tried flashed the OTA update again but that failed. Then I tried doing a factory restore but that doesn't fix the issue. What do I have to do next?
Well I downloaded the 4.4 source code and flashed that. Now its booting at least. Time to restore my data
Ok
i am at a loss I have my mates nexus 4 (vanilla no root locked bootloader) just OTA updated to 4.4.2 stuck on Android is upgrading Starting apps two hours on that screen powered down reboot and boot loop from there in
So thinking i could rescue with a little trickery i took it home ...so far i have these results
tried wipe cache and factory reset from Google standard recovery ... nothing
installed CWM wiped everything (cache dalvik system data) .. nothing
gave up flashed factory google image (4.4.2) from bootloader ... same "starting apps" freeze again, reboot to recovery wiped everything then boot looped on trying a reboot
"
flashed factory image 4.4 same results boots once locks on starting apps then bootloop every boot after then
flashed 4.1 factory image (earliest build) ... Success got it to load everything working .. yay
OTA update came through to i think 4.1.3 that worked
OTA for 4.2.2 just installed and back to Android is upgrading "starting apps" and frozen there now for half hour
this is a clean install every inch of the phone has been completely reset no apps other than factory google apps are installed can someone PLEASE give me some advice im at a loss.
thanks guys

Hello, I have just about the same problem as you do/did I haven't figured a way to fiz it. Any ideas?
I've got the exact same problem. Used the factory image to flash lollipop on my friend's Nexus 4 and it worked flawlessly. Next day he comes to me and says it froze and he force restarted and it wouldn't boot. Tried flashing the factory image again, tried flashing a several custom roms through twrp, and nothing will fully boot it will either loop or get stuck on starting apps. The only thing that has booted so far is the 4.1 factory image. Any ideas?
I purchased an 8 GB N4 off Craigslist tonight. it had an AOSP verison of Lolipop per the previous owner. it worked and I could sign in etc.. I came home and wanted to clean it myself and reinstall a factory image.
I used wugfresh tool kit and flashstock unroot option and chose 5.01. it downloaded the file, flashed it and that went fine. device rebooted and I saw the Lollipop boot animation but that was it.
I let it sit for 30 min but no change. I forced reboot but when I go to the android factory recovery it says:
E:\failed to mount /cache and it repeats that several times.
i tried factory reset and cache and finally that goes away but still it will not boot.
I flashed 4.4 factory image and that worked fine but I am unable to flash 5.0 or 5.01 at all even after flashing 4.4 successfully.
is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

this thread might help you, if you have not seen it already (you dont need to install the drivers)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
Rooted S5 running Lollipop. Followed the instructions here: goo. gl/QkooVR to upgrade to Marshmallow and keep root.
I flashed the stock ROM with FlashFire and set the reboot mode to download. Everything was fine except that it never booted into download mode, it just froze at the Samsung logo, so I waited 30 min, no result, took the battery out, put it back in, went to download mode manually.
Then I installed the PF4 tar.md5 file via Odin. Again, everything went fine except it never booted up properly and was again stuck at Samsung logo. So, I waited 30 more minutes, no result, took the battery out, put it back in, manually booted into stock recovery. Checked the android version and it said it was 6.0.1.
Tried installing the md5 file several more times, same result. Tried rebooting without installing it again first, same result. What do I do? Should I wipe data partitions and dalvik cache? If I do, then what happens?
So, here is what happened. I was using my OnePlus 5 running rooted OxygenOS 10.0.1. When I tried opening a few apps, they kept force-closing on me. So I rebooted the device, but it stuck on the OxygenOS boot animation. I have access to TWRP and flashed the OS again, but it still gives me the same result. I also flashed the Magisk uninstaller, but that didn't change anything.
I am not entirely sure what went wrong, as everything was fine just a few hours ago. I would appreciate your help in resolving this situation.
Had this problem to, only thing that worked was factory reset in TWRP and start from scratch. Somehow data for corrupt
