How about a handgestures recognition app by using the front camera?
It does'nt have to be complicated to be usefull!
*A simple app that record the biggest movement and the direction it goes by using front cam. -Move your hand to the left in front of the camera to navigate left in a menu.
*Trigged by harware key.
*Just for menu navigation and simple tasks. - To move the marker. -Navigate menus while driving etc..
*Trigged by a system event? Recieve sms. Move hand down do mark as read? Calls?
Just some thoughs. I know we will get some of the feautres in winMo 7, but why wait? Anyone with some spear time?
I 2nd this!
I just read the review for the new SE handsett T707. It has a camera-gesture, for instance you can snooze the alarm by just swiping your hand above the handsett (if it's laying down) or mute calls the same way, configurable.
This should be entirely possible with winmo useing both cameras (preferably the one on the front), all we need is a app. Perhaps there is allready one?
I'm 3rd to this...
This one's pretty cool...
Better if they got configuration like:
If certain program/notification is on (maybe call in or SMS in), the camera is activated by itself.
And also if the phone is faced down (front cam is obstructed so it only get dark image), it auto activate the back cam.
If the back cam is also get dark image (obstructed, maybe the phone is in pocket) it'll activate the flash (if there is any and check if they still get dark image or not, because if you're in the dark room then the camera is getting dark image, so it check if its in dark room or really in the pocket).
Because if you're in dark room, no matter you swipe you hand, it'll get dark image, so with the flash on for certain period of time, the cam can get some image even though its blurry.
Otherwise the program shut itself off and leave the notifications on...
I can see this as cool, but perhaps a bit gimmicky.. I don't really see much use aside from simple tasks until the processors, cameras and RAM can improve drastically.
Might just be me being silly, but how can I use the front camera to take my picture, for example taking a photo for my user account. It just gets me to use the rear for a small icon and I don't really fancy finding a mirror so i can see what I'm taking the photo off much less find the capture button on the screen. I know it can easily,y be taken with the rear just seems silly if you can't take it with the front.

My tablet isn't in reacahble distance atm But when your on the camera, I think you want to hit the settings button (top-right?) and then hit the icon with a camera and arrows around it.
Launch Camera >> Press and Hold finger in middle of screen >> drag finger to the top left to the Camera icon with the arrows >> it will switch to the front camera >> repeat process to get it to switch back.
Top guys. Knew I had to be doing something wrong
Hey guys, the standard camera app in SGS4 has a certain problem with shots being blurry. Several people complain about this already.
I found the problem is that the camera app always sets the ISO as low as possible and makes the exposure longer to compensate for the loss in brightness. This results in a very good picture quality but if you don't have hands steady as a terminator, you very often get the shot blurry.
The camera app does have an ISO setting that you can use instead of AUTO but when you restart the app it gets reset back to AUTO and I often forget to change it before I take a shot. It's also a bit annoying to not be able to just make a quick shot if you have to first go to settings and change the ISO first.
So, my question to the more knowledgeable people that know how to touch an Android under the pa... hood, hehe.
Is it possible to edit some kind of configuration file of the default app, to make the ISO settings to a default certain value instead of the current AUTO? Or even better, make a certain minimum ISO for the AUTO setting? I find ISO 50 to be really excessively low.
I have a similar issue with the camera, but connected to another of its settings: exposure value. Since the phone makes those shaky pictures (probably because of the reason mentioned above) in dark environments, I'm trying to compensate it with a higher exposure value (+2). However, this doesn't stick and I have to do it every time I take a picture, regardless of the fact that I am still in the camera app.
One note: I have the review setting on, so I can see the pic after taking it, thus I have to hit the back button to be able to take the next picture.
And one more issue: video record button starts when you hit it to switch from picture to video mode, rather than wait to switch first and press record after.
Anyone?
All 4 edges of my screen are cut off no matter what aspect ratio I set my TV to...It's the outer edges like where the time would be and particularly a problem when there is a list on the left side. Any suggestions? (I have pics but can't post them due to forum rules)
My TV’s solution was with the Scan option. I turned it off and VOILA!

Thanks for the advice, the strange thing is I cannot find a setting for scan lines on my TV...the video section is pretty basic, just offering 3 resolution levels.
Still stumped...
Well, I've had some success with the second screen app, but in order to see my whole screen, I have to set it so low that the bottom icons shift to the side...
When I'm using manual mode in the camera. I'll set ISO, shutter etc. When I use the flash, I'll tap to let it focus. I'll have the overall exposure of the image set just right. I tap to take the photo, then boom... the saved image is FAR brighter than what it appeared before it saved it. EVERY single time this happens. When I check the EXIF data on the saved images, their ISO, Shutter speed etc all match what I had it set to.
Why the hell does it keep jacking up the exposure AFTER I've already tweaked the settings? This ruins perfectly good shots. I find it doesn't do this in full auto mode. But then again, full auto takes mediocre shots. I have cleared cache and data for the camera. Doesn't help.
Not rooted. Still on Android 7.0 Nougat (Build 13A because I like my battery life).
A couple of example images
Here's a couple images I grabbed from the camera. It's just an image of a spray bottle used for a test shot. The first image is a screen cap I took from a screen recording video (Mobizen) while I was using the Camera app. That first image is the final focused image I'm seeing.. AFTER I manually adjusted shutter speed and ISO to get the exposure right. I tapped it twice just to make sure (and took a screen cap of that moment).
The second image is the image the camera saved in the gallery after pressing the shutter button. This ONLY happens on manual mode. Why is it doing this? It makes manual mode almost useless because it keeps ruining photos that I HAD in perfect exposure.
Does Oreo update fix this crap?
