File and Directory browsing

I am coming from Windows Mobile experience and I have a basic file browsing question. Using Dolphin I downloaded a YouTube video I wanted to watch later. It just occurred to me though that I have absolutely no idea how to browse to find that file. Is there any sort of file or directory browsing possible?
What am I missing? Where are downloaded files stored? How do you access a file on your memory card?
If you open the photo gallery, you will see any Videos in there. Android doesn't come with a normal file browser for some reason.
Most of us use Astro file manager, which is free. You also would want to install OI File Manager if you want to add non-jpg attachments to emails.

Thank you Humpa. I found the videos there like you said. What if I download a word doc or pdf? Would that be as easy to find? I downloaded Astro File Manager. I will play around with it soon.
I also find it surprising that there is no file browser. Thanks again.
File Browser
You can also try ES File Explorer. It's a great file browser with the ability to browse your NAS and LAN Networks.
I have ES too. Along with what mrmomoman said, it also does ftp. And that LAN browser is handy for some people (and it does samba shares as well).

Download problem with resco explorer from FTP

Hi,
I can't download any file from my FTP server with Resco Explorer. I can connect me to the server and see all files and paths. Also I can rename, delete and upload files. But I'm not able to download from FTP servers. Every time I get an error message, "Unknown path - unknown error". Is there a solution to solve this problem or is this a general problem? I use the HTC HD2 and Resco Explorer v8.05. But it is still the same with the old v08.01.
Thanks!

Accessing files remotely via SMB over SSH

Hi all. I dont know if this is the right place to post but please bear with me.
I am using ES File Explorer and want to access my files remotely. From what Ive read SMB (Server Message Block) port would need to be forwarded on a router's firewall. Also SMB is not encrypted and so I wanted to access my files using ES File Explorer over SSH, using an app like SSHTunnel on my phone.
Is it possible to use SMB over SSH without opening SMB port? Thanks
same question here, would love to have ssh file explorer
ssh into ur ssh server and forward from any port above 1024 since thats the android restriction to 445 (samba port). Then connect to 127.0.0.1:4450 (port that i have specified as source) via ES file explorer
Tried this but can't get it to work in present day
I have done just that but I cannot get the phone to connect to the SMB share after I establish the SSH connection and forward the respective port.
I tried entering localhost:[port] in the LAN server field and I get an error message from ES file Explorer upon connecting.
