Lower image quality when using Custom ROM? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've noticed a difference in image quality between stock and custom ROMs especially when you try to zoom at the image. I do not have the samples though, but has anyone noticed this kind of result? My comparison was using Team Exodus' ROM. Is it different with the other ROMS?

because they didn't support laser auto focus

this is why stock camera is the best for now, (almost) always sharp n clear

Different Roms, Diff. Quality of Photos

I haven't seen this discussed around here, I've noticed that some roms have better picture taking (not talking about video rec.)
Some examples... MIUI Camera APP always has given better results in photo taking..
CM 7.2 stock camera also very good picture quality
My htc wildfire stock camera was perfect but after flashing several roms I found the custom roms app was pretty bad
Im not saying some roms are better than others JUST want to know why this happens, and if its only because of the .APK itself that has some predifined filter for photos if this is the reason for taking better photos than in other roms..
Which camera app you reccomend me then? (So I can try it out?)
Thank you!
P.D: Maybe this is due to the fact some roms take into account my red lense while others have a pre-set for both greenlense and red lense giving lower image quality (+ is not about image size, im also talking about the actual photo quality)
It's perhaps because the ported Rom camera app may not have the resolution options add compared to a stock or cm one

Camera for aosp

Hello guys. I just want to ask for a recommendation for camera for AOSP roms for our G2. I am currently on a stock rom now because of the camera. And also, does the ios of our g2 works even for aosp roms? Thank you very much.
I don't worry too much about camera as I don't use it much, but, I like the Google camera myself.

Besides just using the LG camera for AOSP?

Search next time. please.
camera zoom fx. search for it on the play store
"a better camera"; have a look on the play store, by FAR my favorite ! a lot a features, quite good pictures for an aosp rom. Indeed, there are many parameter to compensate the weakness of the aosp camera (no LG driver). not so far from LG stock quality, but still beyond.
Google camera is quite good too, in very good light conditions. But no parameter, nothing.
I tried a few apps since I was asked on G+. Lenovo SNAPit camera is still pretty awesome. It tried capturing detail the others just left a blurred garble.

@russells.android Here is the lg stock camera modded to work with aosp. Best I found for low light situations. Better than Lenovo super camera in low light.

Color OS , No doubt
Why not install any rom you like and simply install sultans camera Hal in it.? Wouldn't be the same results in camera quality?

Colour OS as well as H2OS....
Dead Cookies leave no trails...
After using purity, sultans cm13, cm13, DU rom, AOSPA, roms, I have to say that the stock OOS camera is unmatched. Nothing comes close, not even with sultan hal installed, (even if stock OOS suffers from low fps in dark light). In terms of clarity, and image quality is by far the best. Combined with the best possible GSM reception and by far the fastest LTE speeds (in most cases not even close in rom vs OOS speeds tested in the very same spot) is a no brainer for me. At least for now, until some roms incorporate those two major assets. On the other hand every single one custom rom are by a far smoother than OOS, more memory distribution efficient, and of course by a far more customisable. That's my point of view after all those tests. Depending on priorities, each of as makes its choice.

Did you try the OOS camera ported on MM Roms, for example Sultan's CM13?
I only tired OSS abd Sultan CM13.
IMO, OSS.
Ive tried the OOS port into all of the above roms, but although it was a bit better than the roms integrated camera apps, was nowhere near the OOS clarity. I dont know what the stock OOS does with the camera quality, but it's significantly ahead (even fir someone that is no photographer or photo expert) of other roms. Something it's in the coding, or settings, I don't realy know, but the difference is easily noticeable.

CM13 with Google Camera and OOS Camera is pretty good

It's placebo. The same exact HAL is used in custom ROMs. The only thing you could possibly be referring to is the camera app itself and whatever they call it... Clear something or other...
Pics are taken without clear mod or any other special setting. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but the difference was obvious from the first time I installed a custom rom. No matter how good was the rom (in most cases was much better than OOS in terms of smoothess), and still till now that installed the OOS back I have the same opinion. Maybe it's a placebo effect I don't know.

No plaCebo efffect....i have experienced twice after flashin cm13 by sultan..quality is very bad

So Stock OOS has better cam quality vs Sultans Cam HAL OOS?
Yes ...stock camera is way bettr or u can say..Cm13 camera sucks
Sent from my ONE E1003 using XDA-Developers mobile app
It really depends...Stock camera app reduces a lot of noise, making the pics seem better. It actually removes detail in the process of removing noise. btw you can just flash OOS camera app on cm13 or other rom and it will be like stock (except clear image wont work, but clear image is really more of a marketing gimmick, it removes a lot of noise from pics, taking away lots of detail)
Do you know you can also remove noise on CM13 camera (snap)?
I have tried OOS camera port in every other rom I have installed, and the result was nowhere near the OOS camera in OOS. I don't know what it's different, may there is something more, but im convinced that its not a placebo effect. I dont know. If you count also the fact that lte speed is wayyyyy faster ( in OOS ookla test maxed at 125 maps, instead of 40 in every other rom in the same spot and time of day. I also don't know what seams to be the problem in custom roms for now ) than every custom rom, for me is a no go for custom roms. At least for now. And I must say that I love their smoothness. But.....

In my experience picture quality depends heavily on the camera app used. Ie i get awful results with snap cam. Using fv-5 and camera zoom which produce nice quality (running aicp, stock hal)

Google Camera (v2.7.008) Lens Blur outputs low resolution image

Hi all,
I've been using Google Camera (this particular version) since Nexus 4, then S6 and then now OnePlus 5. Just found out that the image size was only 1.6mp when using Lens Blur. I can't remember exactly the image size, but I believe it was higher in S6.
Any idea how to get this *fixed*?
Thanks for any input.
PS: There was a reason why I didn't grab the latest version Google Camera. But at the spur of moment, I've forgotten what was the reason.
From what I can tell based on searching, lens blur has always had a low resolution. At one point when the Google Camera app was first released, they had an option to have the resolution at 2048x1536 instead of the default 1024x768, but that option was removed later.

Thanks for the info. Looking back at some Lens Blur photos produced on S6, it was only 2.4mp. I was getting 3.1mp with Nexus 4.

Pics taken are appearing cheap and lacking clarity upon zooming

I've captured normal image with and without hdr, 1:1 aspect. Upon zooming the pic, the image is zoomed digitally and the clarity is not coming. It is happening with every image. It feels like I am using a cheap camera. ?. My note 4 used to give me good clarity than one plus. Please share your suggestions and experience.

Are you using the stock OnePlus camera? It is a known issue where colours look like an oil painting when zooming in and pixel peeping. I'd recommend trying one of the GCam Ports. It offers much better images in comparison.

I have used the Marian XML with a couple of minor tweaks. Get very good images using this. You can get the XML off the GCam XML channel on Telegram for this device. Only issue is the images are limited to 12.0MP but the images still produce way better results with better contrast and clarity compared to the stock OnePlus camera app.
I am using https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78472914&postcount=705 Jist used normal photo mode. pics are 12mpx maximum
