How is the microphone quality? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the future I may buy this phone, and one thing in which I'm interest is the microphone(s) quality, because I need to record university lectures. What do you think about it?

Working great. I have been using it as a dictaphone for my MSc classes as well. As good as my previous G3!

Excellent link. I will give it a shot.
If someone already tested it, please post your results.

Now if there was only a way to have the input present as a standard webcam interface (much in the way SplitCam does it). Then you'd have a wireless camera you could use with MSN, Skype and other such vido calling applications.
Lewis
good link. Thanks.

cheers thanks for the link
i meant for video calling mobile phones
The camera's on the back, the screen is on the front. Either you could see the other person and they'd get a picture of your feet or they'd see your ugly mug and you couldn't see them. What would be the point?

This will allow you to make calls mobile to mobile, however it would have to be over GPRS or WiFi. However as supershisa points out you wouldn't want to. I suspect your asking if the Wizard can do 3G, which it cannot.

its experimental. and its cool.
besides its not microsofts fault. its the phones fault for the position of the camera. the software is not only for the wizard. its for all pocket pc's with a camera.

[APP] G-Shotgun (Release: April 21 ...)

Hey folks!
Me and Mr. Nick are currently working on the G-Shotgun app, which is the wm equivalent to the iPhone app "Shotgun Free".
All credit for programming goes to Mr. Nick, many thanks!
I'm very happy to announce that our problem is solved and G-shotgun will be released today!
Suggestions about the graphics or future functions are still more than welcome! The app doesn't have to be exactly like the iPhone version does it?
.
there's something similar on pccgeeks (last post on page 2), but it's not so good (ugly graphics and some work to do on sensor as well). But maybe you can cohoperate with mike to release a good app

Thanks guys, but ...
Would not call the graphics ugly ... squished up a bit, but not ugly - It is a real shotgun! taken from Google images. :S - It was however the only one I could find that looked good on the small screen.
By all means if there is a better graphic, including animated pump action, I will use it and re-release!
And .. this was my first sensor app, so the sensor code was twitchy. I have since worked out better code and when I get time (the next week or so) I will re-code and release the new version.
Mike.
yes mike, you're right: with "ugly" i meant the image is not displayed as it should. That's why, seeing Shoddy shout, i thought you can work together to release a great app

sounds good to me.
I have a couple of questions though..
is your app currently working as the "Shotgun Free" app? if not, could you add the features from shotgun free to your code? Because my graphics are almost (it's supposed to) the same as that app.
and.. would you mind changing the name to "G-Shotgun"? I think it sounds better than "Virtual Shotgun" or what it is you call it.
guys, i hope you'll consider also a wvga version for us poor HD users

Yeah, and ****ty quality too.
Have you ever actually used it?
****ty or not, it would be so freaking awesome
this would be sweeet! is it possible??
I need this too. I hoped someone will make an app for this but still nothing.
If this was possible, it would be AMAZING!

Just like to say that it would be awesome if this app could be sorted. With respected to quoted message...It really depends on a number of factors
Hardware
Your location
Your Car (Windscreen)
I have used and am using an itr1p for a couple of years now and works flawlessly in and around Manchester. I have business in Biringham once or twice a month and it never works properly there on any frequency!!

Great idea... hope it's possible!

Is there a way to tweak contrast on the N4 without paying?

The `paying for an app`you refer to is a gratification and recognition to a dev who builds, develops and maintains that app for free for as long as you use it bro and that for a small price.

Anyone working on audio tweaks?

I hope so! With a few tweaks, I think the headphone audio could be a superstar. It is good now, but there seem to have been some s/w decisions made by LG which could be improved upon.
I saw this

Might help until some tweaks come out

This looks like eq and effects. I am hoping for something to give us access to change some of the kernel/DAC level choices made by LG.

this looks like it simply adjusts the gain. in the software somewhere, there's a built in compressor/limiter that needs to be turned off, but i have no idea where to look for that.

Until we get DAC-level tweaks, this is an awesome modification to try. If sound quality matters to you at all, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. :good:
