Hi guys,
I've recently got my nexus 6p and have just update latest stock/unlocked/root/custom recovery it.
I'm not sure if it's because any of the above mentioned, but my Evernote feature that decrypts the already encrypt text is not working any more.
I've done the following but still no go:
-correct password
-reinstalled Evernote
-reboot phone
Anyone has this problem on a rooted and unlocked n6p as well? Any fix?

Hello I just rooted my Nexus 7 4.2.1 device using the nexus 7 toolkit. Before I rooted it, I backed up the data to a .bak file using the provided tools. After successfully rooting the device all data was erased as expected. Now when I try to restore the data from my backup file, after I enter my password, the device reboots and nothings happens, my files/apps are not restored. I tried to do this manually as well using
Code:
adb-toolkit restore <path to .bak file>
but I got the same result, it prompted my for the password, then just rebooted.
Can anyone suggest some solutions to this problem? Is there any way I can get my data back???
Had the same exact problem when a rooted my nexus. Well if the data was just contacts, you can always resync it using your Gmail. Am sure somebody in community will know the solution for you. Best of luck

So, I'm not the only one that had this issue. Once the device went back to facroty settings it started re-installing all of my applications, so now I have the same apps installed, unfortunately, any settings/bookmarks i had in those applications are now lost.
I still have not given up and would prefer to be able to restore from my backup if possible.
Hey guys,
I've powered up my Nexus 7 yesterday. I have MultiROM installed, but this time, it bypassed my MultiROM screen and booted my Nexus 7 directly into my stock 4.2.2. I thought I did something wrong, when I flashed my new kernel, but no. After the "X" was disappeared it asked for a password, but I've never encrypted my device. This so weird. I even can't access my previous android backups to restore because my TWRP also asks for a password.
The only thing I wanna keep:
Data (Games, etc.)
Thanks in advance!
Once encrypted, you need the password, if not you have to factory reset.

Hey guys, I have Lollipop 5.0 on my Nexus 4 and just got the notification for 5.0.1. I'd like to update my phone to the latest version and then do a factory reset. I've already backed up all of my data that I need. However I've read on some forums that doing a factory reset with Lollipop automatically turns on Encryption on the device and this causes performance issues and slows down the phone. There is a way to factory reset and not to enable the encryption as well? Or is there no other option other than encrypting the phone? Can someone also explain how the encryption works? Does it decrypt the phone when you switch it on or when you unlock it from sleep and why does it cause performance issues?
Many thank.
Can anyone help?

Hiya there, on the 15 th of January 2015 my nexus 7 (2012 wifi only) had a software update to the new 5.0.2. I decided to install it and at the end of the installation, it said 'error'. I decided to wait to see what would happen next and it started up my nexus 7. When i tried going on the device, I kept recieving the message 'Google keyboard has stopped' i was getting really frustrated and to solve the problem I factory reset my nexus 7. When I set up my nexus 7, i was never given the option to add my gmail account. I went on Settings>Accounts>add account and there was still no option to add a gmail account This made my problem worse as now i can't access the play store. When i went on the Gmail app it says 'this app wont run without google play services I even tried to download the apk but there was still no solution. Does anyone have a solution?
You were rooted or on stock?

One Plus Two (chinese version), oxygen os 2.0.2, twrp recovery & supersu.
If I try to encrypt the phone storage (settings -> security), accepting all the warning, the android robot appears a few seconds, then the phone reboots itself, but the device is not encrypted.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
I've tried also to do it in safe mode, but the same result, reboots and the device is not encrypted
I wiped the device and started from scratch and now it works
I think that it was my mistake because I was trying to encrypt it using PIN protection instead password... so maybe I didn't need to wipe it but...
Same problem on OneA2001

Can anybody provide more details on this issue? Im having the exact same problem; Phone is 100% charged, Click encrypt and the phone briefly reboots but doesnt encrypt. Ive tried both PIN and Password as options but neither seems to work....
If you are using twrp I don't think it works. They don't support encryption on the OPT yet.

Twrp cannot read your internal storage, but you can sideload otas, zips,...
Try a full wipe and encrypt it before starting to install apps... (it worked for me...)
if you encrypt while in OxyOS 2 you can keep the encryption and move forward with OxyOS 3 and onto other custom ROMs.
OS 3.1.0 | TWRP 3.0.2 - 2: encryption ?
