Is there a way to hide a persistent notification without blocking the app function with or without root? Ie I want to block the persistent notification for light flow, but long pressing the notification and hitting block stops the function of the app.

Quick question,
I just happen to get a Glass and it is setup for Bluetooth tethering all the time when I'm out of a WiFi zone. I wanted to know if there is a way to hide the persistent notification in the notification bar.
Usually I would long press and go into app info and disable notifications but this is an Android System app so that option is not allowed.
I have no problem downloading an app that could hide it or at least make it transparent like with Power Toggles.
Rooted N4 running stock Android
Thanks

Okay now that we have notifications on the lockscreeen now how do I control visibility there?
I use a few apps that rest permanently in the notifications, like volume controls, that should stay there but clutter the lock screen.
Anyone found a way to disable them on the lockscreen but keep em in the notifications?
Settings > sounds and notifications > app notifications
Thanks but thats not it.
You can block them but blocks them in the notification area too.
You can set them to sensitive but that still leaves a panel on the lock screen.
You can only hope this is an app setting and developers will update this soon.
Otherwise I can't understand how google devs oversaw this
My app is a kiosk mode app that already has the home button and the recent apps disabled. The notification shade is also disabled... to a point. So I want to know how I can make it like how Chrome disables the notification shade when a full screen video is playing, or if that's not accessible to developers. Basically is there code that will disable the notification shade completely?
When I pull down to view the notifications thread and remove a notification by swiping right is there a way to make it stay gone without having to go to the actual app and view the notification? Unless I go to the app the same notification appears again.
Does it appear immediately or after some time?
Some apps do have a repeat notifications function.
I've upgraded to Nougat, but since than I can't disable the lockscreen notification and peeking for certain apps. I don't want my mails and WhatsApp been shown on the lockscreen etc. Who can help?
Enable Power Notification Controls, set those apps to Level 1 and they won't show up anymore
