Is it possible to get Youtube movies working on the BA (running WM6), and if so, what player do I need?
The TCPMP player gives me a "RTSP protocol not supported" error when trying to look at a Youtube movie :/
hi there!
there is some kind of plugin/addon, which allows you to download youtube movies to your pda....
just search this forum or google for it, here is ONE source!
hope that helps....
regards,
krz
I have that tcpmp plugin, and it does work most of the time. I've run into some files on youtube that still give me an unknown media format error. Not sure why.
The Avot Media Viewer that someone posted about here a week or so ago works great though.
http://www.avotmedia.com/
http://m.avotmedia.com/
The Avot is OK but it needs much work to be more than OK.
I use the vTap.
http://veveo.net/
Use the search bar to browse uploaded videos from any embedded video website (like youtube, metacafe etc).
You can also have a feature of searching into wikipedia articles!
Very cool...
After doing a bit more digging, I installed Streaming Media v 2.10 build 518.700 (from High Tech Computer Corp.) on it.
It's working GREAT!

hi everyone!
well, i installed the HTC STREAMING cab, which was included in xplode's cabs. i dont know, what version this actualy is...
anyway, i can playback youtube movies, but the performance sucks big time.... lots of stuttering, not enjoyable at all.... is it just me experiencing this problem?
is the BA oo slow to playback such vids?
or am i doing something wrong here?
thx in advance,
krz
you should check your internet connection too...
me again!
have to add, that i now have the FLASHVIDEOBUNDLE.cab installed, which not only gives me great streaming playback using TCMP Player (make sure u have installed the right version first!), but in addition to that gives me the oppotunity to save the flash videos to your storage right away....
VERY COOL CAB!!! KUDOS 4 THE (true) CREATORS!
btw: that STREAMING thing that came with xplode's cabs still doesnt work... (my internet connection is of course up and running!!)
cheers,krz
okay, after playing around a little bit and after installing/deinstalling/reinstalling HTC STREAMING Software, i am afraid i screwed up flv playback completely...
every time i try to load a youtube site, pocketIE crashes and my device freezes, leaving me with soft reset as only solution!
i tried to play back flvs on the youtube mobile site as well, with no sucess. nothing happens! the vids just dont load....
ARGH!!!!!
keeps crashing and crashing.... (pocketIE keeps loading, the suddenly freezes!)
when trying to play mobile youtube in pocketIE, nothing happens.... (just loads 0kb, then stops...)
can anyone load youtube.com without any problems?
can anyone play back youtube.com movies without problems?
HOW?
sorry for whining around here, but this really makes me go N U T Z

thx for your answer, XDAIIs!
I read thru that post as well and as I wrote, I cannot play back m.youtube.com videos eitehr, it just sttarts loading and stops immediatly at 0KB again, thats it.
what streaming client do you have installed?
the one, that came with xplode's cabs?
or that one: RvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.rar?
the easy and fast way, install my streaming media cab open m.youtube.com and it will stream with the player just fine, tested and working

well did you installed audio manager also ?, inside the cab there is verinfou.dl which is needed for most of the HTC software, but if you install them both it will work

thx a lot man!
now the last thing i am trying to find out is, wahat makes pocketIE and my whole pda freeze every time i load the "real" youtube.com.... maybe some java bug? i dunno.....
Sorry for the noobish question but my problem is as follows....
I know the BBC Iplayer site states the HD2 is not compatable and either way I thought I'd put some downloaded programmes on my phone to watch.
So I downloaded them as 'portable device download' from the iplayer site to my PC and then tried to drop them onto the card to watch. They're WMV files. But I get an error message stating "the device has either stopped responding or has been disconected".....not sure what I'm doing wrong and would be glad of some advice. All I'm trying to do is copy and paste them over to the phone card.
Anyone?
Can't explain that I'm afraid but I did read a while back that the files need to be synched through Windows Media Player and in the past that the file needs to pass a drm check before it will play - someone wrote even longer back that starting to play the fie on the PC so it checks drm, then moving it worked.
Do you get that message when moving anything else to your sd card?

This is a problem to do with transferring large files rather than the HD2's ability to play the WMV files. Try connecting the HD2 in Disk Drive mode - it worked for me.
You might want to try searching this site for an application called myplayer - it makes accessing iPlayer a lot less painful and allows higher-quality downloads.

After downloading very long episode of East Enders other night and couldn't play it, it made me bit scared of trying again. I'll give it an other go any way.

I didn't - do I need to? I've just reinstalled TCPMP and now it won't run at all...
This may not solve your problem but you can use the BBC iPlayer on the HD2 with a simple change of settings. See point number 36 in the *Leo Hints & Tips* - Things you may not have known.

TCPMP is more likely to be stable (i.e. not crash or lock up the phone) in GDI or Raw Framebuffer mode. So is CorePlayer, come to that.
If TCPMP is crashing before it even lets get you into the menu, that may be because it's trying to display the opening frame of the video that you previously told it to play, and doing that in DirectDraw mode. You can get around that by temporarily moving or renaming whichever file it's trying to display.
I have myPlayer and Coreplayer.
With myPlayer you get the latest viewable content ... but can search for anything. If you have the iPlayer website open that may be easier to search.
Once you've found what you want, just use myPlayer to download over wireless to your device (you can also stream for instant playback (even over 3g).
myPlayer has a view downloads screen with all the programmes you've downloaded. You select one, say view now ... it launches Coreplayer ... and it plays perfectly.
Never had a problem. This is infact one of the most amazingly together capabilities of the HD2 with this huge screen. In the evening I choose something to watch on the train on the way to the city the next day ... love it.
Paul.

I'd rather download the videos than stream them, so I don't have to worry about signal strength while I'm watching stuff...

OK. I tried moving the file, but it's still crashing. I'll uninstall it again, later, and delete any settings that are left behind in the registry. And when I get TCPMP working again, I'll give those other modes a go.
Having got iplayer downloads to play on my HD2 having put them on the sd card I'm now having some playback problems.
Basically the quality of the picture and the sound is fine in principal but upon playback on WMP the programme pauses or sticks every second or so. The pause is only for a fraction of a second, just enough for the picture to momentarily catch or stick before continuing. I could live with this but at the same time the sound is also distorted making programmes unwatchable. If downloaded to my PC the same programmes are fine, it's not the download itself it's just once on the phone thats the problem.
Tried various programmes, all the same. Tried downloading direct from iplayer site to the card, still occurs.
Could this be a card problem. It's a sandisk 8Gb SDHC card. Any ideas?
I configured Opera to try direct streaming from iPlayer ... and it worked fine althought he picture was a little pixelated.
I know CorePlayer is a cost ... but if iPlayer is important to you, the combination of myPlayer and Coreplayer for iPlayer (and other channels) is incredibly simply ... live streaming is better quality ... and the download manager is completely seemless. Quality of downloaded video is genuinely perfect ... as good as anything at high bit rates I have on my Archos AV5100.
All I can say is that if you can stretch to Coreplayer ... I'd go with myPlayer.
Going through the website for either streaming or download (even on a PC) is so much more clunky.
Paul.

I haven't tried this on an HD2, but on my TP2 you can quite good results from myplayer without having to buy CorePlayer; I use Streaming Media Player for streaming, and TCPMP to play the .mov downloads.
Is there away to side load all share with the Galaxy tab 10.1? I use this for my sgs2 and ps3 and would like to use the same product on my tab.

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. I have been looking for a DLNA client for ages now -- really missed AllShare.
I hope it works on my INU firmware though :-/

Not working well. Photos are OK on your tab. Flac files dont work. If you want to stream a movie on your tab program crashes. Since it crashes at tah point I wasnt able to stream anything from my PC to my Samsung TV using the tab. But it sees all my servers right away... then not working.
It's worth trying Skifta, although it can use battery a bit quickly if left running.

Aww... anybody using AllShare on the firmware it officially came with? Maybe for some reason it doesn't work properly with other firmware.
I've just tried the Allshare app on my standard UK WiFi Tab, I've only tried streaming a standard avi file and it works fine for me.

I tried it and it worked just fine. It's very fast and smooth moving in folders and scrolling movie lists. Played every file i tried.
Maybe it has something to do with the firmware or stock video player. I noticed that the built in video player plays streams (from web) that it didn't play on previous firmware.

Gave it a try on my INU firmware -- it plays MP3s fine. However if i try to play any videos, it force closes (if i have installed it as a normal app). If i install it as a system app, it doesnt force close but gives a 'unsupported file format' error.
Can someone please post the VideoPlayer.apk from the working ROM please? Also, DivX.apk (just in case its needed too).

Did that - thanks. If that doesnt work as well, I guess i can just install the entire ROM.
Does anybody else here watch downloaded videos directly off the LAN? i can't get the video to play cleanly. I get about 1 frame every two seconds.
Streaming from my network works great to the ps3 and the tv, and the Gtab plays my videos smoothly when they are copied to its internal memory, so i'm struggling to figure out why i cant play these vids on my tab from the network. Throughput does not seem to be the problem either as the files copy onto the tab at 20Mb/s.
I have tried selecting the videos via an SMB share in ES and any DLNA media player, the results are the same.
Does anybody have this working properly ?
I use bsplayer from market and have no issues. Everything up to 720p plays.
Use Qloud bro, stream at 2048mbps.
Not sure why yours isn't working. I just tested playing some of my TV show downloads from EZTV off of a shared folder on my windows 7 PC using Moboplayer and it worked fine. Movie rips that I encode specifically for my tab play fine in stock video player over wifi as well.
Your streaming to other devices is over wifi as well?
yeah, streaming to every other device is fine, thats why i cant figure out the problem.
Seeing as you all have it working ok i'm going to keep trying different things.

I had all the problems you described too, just tried Qloud based on someone's recommendations in this thread, and that is the only one that works without stopping every few frames
Has to be something else since other such as myself are able to play things just fine with other applications. As I've started both the stock video player and moboplayer are working for me. I have mobo set up to default to software decoding which gives me smooth playback of TV show downloads from eztv. For my bluray rips the stock player works fine.
Out of curiosity what kind of wifi security are you running?
WPA2 on a Linksys E3200 but i doubt that should matter.
Tried Qloud too but my NAS requires usr/pass to connect. Qloud does not support that.

This should solve your problem. Try Moboplayer and set it to software decoding in the settings. That works for xvid HDTV shows, 720p will most likely not work with software decoding.
Yep, only other thing I'd look at is the way the videos are encoded. As gokpog stated for stuff like xvid rips software mode in mobo works great at long as the resolution and bitrate is manageable. For h.264 stuff baseline rips with no bframes work for me at 720p. If not that then im at a loss as to what to suspect next.

I use ES File Explorer for that and when I select the file, I can choose Moboplayer, Dice Player and every other supported player to play that file directly from my NAT.

Of course. Sorry i missed that one.
Playing my videos off network with hardware acceleration turned on gave me the usual 1 frame per second. Turning off hardware acceleration FIXED THE PROBLEM ! My videos now stream perfectly.
I cannot understand why this is the case and dont expect a fix to ever materialise, but damm am i happy
Thanks to all for your help. Now i just have to deal with this bum 3.2 update i installed last last night !
To clarify...
I'm sure this is considered "old" by now as you've resolved this back in November... but I'm unfamiliar with disabling hardware acceleration... I can't seem to find a suitable guide either no matter where I look.
Simply hoping to have the same stroke of luck you were in disabling it for the purpose of streaming video.
Just install MoboPlayer or RockPlayer. Both have hardware acceleration as a checkbox in the options. By default it is on.
Uncheck it and try again.
I use bubbleupnp and bsplayer with accelarated hardwaredecoding. Plays almost anything without problem. In addition I am now able to seek within videos, which is not possible with samsungs allshare-app.

Is there something built within Samsung that will prevent streaming apps from playing video? I can't get any streaming app to play video whether it's streamed or downloaded. It doesn't matter whether it's Netflix, Peacock, Vudu, whatever. When I go to play a video, I get a playback error.
Anyone encounter something similar?
Instead of recreating a similar thread, I'll just bump this one. Hoping to get some help on this. My device is stock, rooted with Magisk and I can't get any streaming app to work whether connected to the internet with with videos downloaded within the app. Has anyone encountered something similar. The errors codes all point to something with the internet connection, but as mentioned, it gives the same errors even for downloaded videos.
