Hi ,
I am having a strange problem with Samsung 64gb evo+ microsd formatted in Note 4 . Earlier i was using 48mb/s Toshiba microsd (Made in Japan ) . The audio sometimes stuttered on the Toshiba microsd so i upgraded to Samsung microsd knowing that it might no able to use the full speed.
Ignore the above para , i just rechecked it happens on both microsd.
The phone will strangely offload everything from RAM sometimes when pressing the home button . The home screen takes few seconds to load . The RAM consumption at that moment is very low about 1.2gb used . While copying 700mb files from usb the note 4 simply goes haywire (ram offloading). CHECK attached video (only 38secs for description of the problem ) In the video , i tried copying a 800mb file from usb to microsd.
https://youtu.be/fdp_68Lucjo
I tried copying the same file to internal memory and it succeeded .
Tried : -
1.Unfreezing all system apps
2.Reformating microsd and copying all the data again
Has my phone lost the ability to write big files on external microsd ? Has such problem been reported earlier ? I am also having these problems:-
1.Copying large file over mtp stops midway. I mostly used airdroid to copy files which used internal memory.
2.Clockwork mod stops backing up when it tries writing the data partition img file to microsd (i though it was a problem with chinese recovery)
I am on 4.4 latest , N9100 . I have 2gb free in internal memory of 11.5 gb useable , 30gb free on microsd . There are over 300apps on microsd with FolderMount . Xposed and Main System Apps on internal memory. .No important app has been frozen. All system apps have been unfrozen and the problem still persists.

I tried to find exactly the same problem I face but I failed .
I run android sd-builds from September. Lately I began to experience a problem with my new 16gb card. Tried to Save the whole sd to the hdd but it stopped at some -not all - data.img or other large files like videos after that pc can not see the sd no more and then I have to reinsert to the reader . Be aware that all the programs run normally and the builds also , apart from two builds from a set of seven builds that rest In my 16gb card ...
Is there an idea ,except , formating so as to save all sd data first ?
im just a bit confused about the sd card in general,,my phone of astro file manager has like,,,phone>sdcard>externalsd...which is weird and i never know if im searching my phone or my sd card...
when i try and load things i have dragged on my pc desktop onto sdcard they ussualy then go into phone>sdcard>external sd and never just .... sd card
i was trying to load images into sketchbook mobile and i could only do so from the phones camera pictures where i now have to drag everything omn the desktop....why cant i make use of my 32gb external sd card in this regard?
where are the applications for augmenting tehe sd card memory or whatever not for just having aplication sent to sd card memory,
does the sd card just work like say,,an external usb hard drive for a computer except you can put some inatalled application on it,,,,,but nothing like media,,photos videos etc?
or is it just me?
cheers
Your phone aka tab is divided into parts
System arnd 2 gigs
SDCARD arnd 14 gigs
System works as space for system
Sd as your sd card - Flashing doesn't destroy data on this
And if you place another SD card then it is termed as external_sd
So primary storage for you phone is SD Which is its own space
PS : there is usb storage folder (in sd card directory) also which is for your pendrives, etc

there are a lot more partitions than the 2 you mentioned!
efs
system (~1GB)
data (~2GB)
hidden
...
as far as i remember the note has 8 or 9 partitions (all of them have to be
subtracted from the initial 16gig (unformated!! formated it will be significantly less) storage!
so from your 16gigs you should see around 11GB as free mem on '"sdcard"!
i can't tell exactly because i have the 32gb internal version. with it a little more than 25,5GB are shown as "total" available (not free) storage!
as mentioned above
the rom has 1gb partition
data/system has 2gb
rest is used for sd card purposes around about 11.8gb
the device sees the internal memory as sd memory, the external sd card is seen under /external_sd
the file mangers will automatically go directly to the internal storage when browsing
i understand that I get about 12 GB left from 16 internally but.....
what can I actually do with the external_sd?
I cant load jpeggs onto sketchbook mobile at the moment. Reaally annoying
Any reason as to why it wouldn't recognize files in the external_sd?
Also we were saying about partitins and other random folder in the phone SD and external sd? anyone got a referrl to which ones can be deleted and generally how to make the phone and external sd card more navigation friendly?
please this would be really helpful
external_sd is your physical micro sd card, you can do what you want with it, i personally have all my music and movies on there
what files are you putting on the card?

I have a 32Gb Sandisk extreme Micro-SD card installed and prior to the Marshmallow update have had ZERO performance issues installing apps to it. I couldn't tell the difference performance wise if I had an app installed on the internal memory OR the SD card. It was working Great..
Fast forward to the new update I thought I would convert the SD card to internal storage so I wouldn't have to worry about managing where I installed apps going forward. I didn't think it would be an issue because it worked so well with whatever apps I installed on it manually.
Well, I didn't notice any issues UNTIL I went to install the game War Thunder. It starts out as a 48Mb download but when you launch it, it then starts to REAL download which I presume is quite large. Herein lies my problem :
I have a 130Mbps Internet connection so the download should complete in a matter of minutes. The problem is the download will start off extremely fast, at 12+MBps and show approx 11 min. remaining to download and then after a few seconds it will spiral down to 0 and stay there for up to 20 seconds before hitting 11+MBps again and then spiralling down.
I haven't been able to complete the download of the game because of this. It's extremely frustrating.
Please don't ask questions about the stability of my internet. Prior to the update to marshmallow I had no issues whatsoever downloading apps at sustained speeds of 12+MBps.
It was suggested the SD card encryption is the culprit.
Can anyone else who has coverted an SD card to internal storage (or thumb drive or external HD) try downloading and installing this game to see if they experience similar issues ?
I really hope it's a bug and will be resolved as I don't want to have to factory reset to remove the SD as internal storage. I don't think there is a way to undo this change.
I have a 1TB seagate USB 3.0 drive set as internal storage and on my 50MB connection and it downloaded at full speed.
Fortunately after reading up on the nvidia support site I was able to undo utilizing the SD card as internal storage.
There is an option to move data to "internal storage" which, IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH native internal storage space, will move all the data off the SD card back to the native internal storage. After completing I was able to safely eject the SD card.
I then proceed to try installing War Thunder again and it downloaded consistently at 14+MBps.... but then ran out of storage space about 50% of the way into the download.. How big is this game anyway ? I looked and it was taking up nearly 5Gigs when it stopped @#$$%

Hi,
I formatted my external Sandisk SD Card 16GB as internal storage. Went to my native place and took tons of photos and videos. Everything was working good. Suddenly while coming back my phone lagged a lot and after a restart it failed to detect the SD Card. The problem still persists. I am feeling really bad for the photos and videos I will be loosing from it.
Need help in getting all my data back.
I did a little research and found out that the SD card is encrypted in the external-to-internal process and so any PC recovery applications wont be useful.
Did any one else face this issue?
Thanks
Did you migrated any Data to the Internal ? . If so just Migrate them back to the SD Card . Now you should be able to reformat as portable as the Format to Portable would be available.
This disappearance of either Internal Storage or External SD Card is caused because Android excludes to display the Storage Disk which has less files on it . So It doesn't show it . I had the issue but resolved it by re-migrating data from my SD CARD to INTERNAL which i migrated to my SD Card . Then I had the option to Format to Portable ( In the drop down menu of Storage & USB ) . Hit the Thanks If I helped you out
Hi everyone,
i have a G900F running on the current version of the ALEXNDR Rom, rooted, Knox 0x1, Android 6.0.1.
I have my SD card formatted as (mixed) adoptable storage (via adb), so I have 50% of space as SD card memory, 50% as adoptable storage.
And now for the problem: The SD card is repeatedly shown as "damaged". As soon as I put it into my PC, it'll work without any problems, but the SGS5 will work for quite a time with it, and then suddenly shows it as damaged and will not mount it unless you format it. It usually happens when a larger amount of data is written to the card.
So I thought that the card might really be damaged (was an old and small and slow one) and went vor a SanDisk Extreme 64GB card - same thing here. Then I read about some problems with Samsung devices and SanDisk cards (may the be true or not, I dont know) and swapped it for a Samsung 32 GB Pro SD card - same thing here.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it? Or will the adoptable storage just not work?
In addition: I could reproduce this when I was downloading Videos to the SD card from Amazon Prime Video for offline use. Seems that a) this is a large amount of data and b) split into thousands of small files. I dont know if its the number of files or the amount of data, but when I deleted the folder on my PC and put the card back into the phone, it suddenly worked perfectly again. Any ideas on this?
Hey there how are you?
I recently have had an issue with my samsung 128 sd card that was formated in a 50/50 mix from adb too.
As the sd card was formatted in exfat I posted an issue on the exfat home page. https://github.com/relan/exfat/issues/49 I was provided with advice on my mac on how to reformat it using the dd command. This was the only command that I came across which gave me an input output error indicating a hardware issue on the sd card.
I have since purchased a new sd card. I'm thinking of formatting it as either an ext4 format or f2fd format to see whether this makes an impact of its longevity.
Hope this helps.
