Hey folks,
i'm new to the Samsung world, but by far not new to Android. Since 3 Days i have my Note 4. I'm having a bit of a Problem currently.
So, the basics first:
N910F trltexx
Stock Rom 5.1.1 via OTA
Rooted manually after Updating
latest TWRP
Philz Kernel v1.1 flashed via ODIN
Currently the Phone won't deep sleep at all when Bluetooth is on. I read on different threads about different Problems causing no deep sleep. So, what did i try:
- Back to Stock Recovery and wiping Caches: No Change
- Clearing Data on Bluetooth and BluetoothTest: No Change
The Phone is paired with my car and nothing else. It's not connected to the car currently and is not using any other Bluetooth Devices. I do keep my Bluetooth always on for convenience, but the Note 4 is the first Android i have (out of 7 so far) that does this behavior.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Any help is much appreciated!
Seems i found the culprit... After Installing Greenify everything was fine. So i started investigating and enabled one app at a time. After 45 Minutes of going through apps and uninstalling them, the "MyVodafone" App was the one keeping my phone awake.
Uninstalled it and my phone is going to deep sleep just fine even with Bluetooth turned on.

I have the same issue. I ran stock 5.0.1 (rooted) since I purchased the phone until 1 month ago. All of a sudden, deep sleep stopped when Bluetooth was enabled. I did a factory reset, got the 5.0.2 OTA update, keept it unrooted. I was fine for about 1 week... deep sleep was working fine. As of 2 days ago, issue resurfaced again. I decided to perform another factory reset, installed 5.1.1 and rooted. Deep sleep worked until this morning...
Again, this is only related to Bluetooth. As soon as Bluetooth is disabled, the phone resumes its deep sleep phase and no more battery drain. Only my car is paired with my phone, no other devices. I've searched all over forums for hours and I can't land on potential leads. I've read that it could be related to some apps (Fongo, GasBuddy) but those aren't installed on my phone. This is so frustrating. I will watch this thread.

As stated above, i found the app that caused it for me.
Install Greenify from the AppStore, Greenify all Apps and see if deep sleep is working. After that, enable one App and see if the Problem comes back...

Hi ! I purchased recently my Acer Iconia A500, and so far I'm very impressed with it. The only concern I have is this annoying sleep of death issue. It occurs to me like 3x a day, everyday ! I've tried everything written by the people (setting airplane mode, disabling wifi when screen blackens, update) but with no success.. anyone knows if this is going to be fixed in the 3.1 update or any update by Acer ? Anyone successfully managed to solve this problem ? Thanks !
Just to know.. I really wish that it's a software problem because I live in Brasil and bought it last week in EUA, so I won't be able to change it xP
As I mentioned in another thread, this has never happened to me. Not before or after the update.
The only thing I may do different from anyone else is I leave USB debugging turned on, I have a password login and as you mention I set the wifi profile to turn off when the screen goes off.
If this is happening 3 times or more a day, I'd highly recommend replacing the tablet. Yes, I know that's extremely inconvenient in your case...
But, have you tried a reset to factory defaults? It's worth a shot...
Prior to the 1.141-update my tab had that too, several times a day. I've put a WiFi-toggle widget on my desktop to be able to switch off WiFi before putting the tablet to sleep - that almost completely got riid of the inresponsiveness after sleep.
After the update to 1.141 there is no need anymore to switch off WiFi while sleeping, the update fixed that problem. But introduced a new one: when disconnecting the charger the tablet sometimes stops responding after about 1 minute and needs a reset.
Just flashed the new MG1 on my SGH-I337M. I am noticing a consistent high partial wakelocks with GCM_LIB. Almost completely stops deep sleep. I just removed each of my google accounts and readded to see if that fixes the problem.
Anyone else experiencing this anomaly?
Cheers

+1! Something I did/installed/modified in the last week since I got the phone made the battery life plummet. Thought it was the "listen for wake-up command" part of S Voice... better, but nope. GCM_LIB had it awake 7 1/2 hours out of 8 I slept last night. This morning removed Samsung acct to see how that goes. Next the google acct...
I have the exact same problem as the OP, same phone/model too. Any clue what this "GCM_Lib (Android System)" under BetterBatteryStats is? It is preventing the phone from going into Deep Sleep. I notice this GCM_Lib is only active when there is an active connection (either WiFi or Mobile Data) turned on. With Flight Mode, there is no excessive battery drain. I am losing 15% battery over night (6-8 hours sleep). With Flight mode, I am only losing 1%.
I have removed all accounts off my device, and GCM_Lib is still wrecking my battery usage. Phone is unrooted. Any ideas?
I had the same problem on my SGH-M919V, upgrading firmware from MDJ to MG1. Same symptoms about suddenly poor battery life during sleep, and constant GCM_LIB wake locks. In the end, I never did figure out what was causing it, or a good way of fixing it, however I did end up solving the problem indirectly.
I flashed my phone back to the old MDJ firmware (NO data wipe, just firmware only), to check if I was getting the same problem previously, without knowing it. Sure enough, the problem went away, and didn't happen on the old MDJ firmware. So next, I re-applied the new MG1 firmware (again, NO data wipe, just firmware only), figuring that I would systematically disable/uninstall everything, one thing at a time, to try and figure out what app, account or setting was causing this. However, as soon as I re-flashed the new MDJ firmware, the GCM_LIB wake lock problem never re-appeared afterwards.
I don't know if this was something uniquely corrupt or misconfigured with my accounts or phone settings, or something unique to the SGH-M919V phone or firmware, but oddly enough, the firmware rollback & upgrade process described above did somehow fix the problem for me. I'm not sure if this process of firmware rollback without data wipe is supported or recommended without causing other issues along the way. I haven't other any other issues as a result of doing this. But still, make sure to have a full backup of your phone before you start, just in case something goes wrong during the process or some time afterwards.
Having the same issue here, don't know what causes it and how to fix it. I tried killing all the process with the System Panel app, it fixes the wakelock for a moment then it starts again
Hi,
Does your Note restart itself? Mine sits in Flip Wallet and today it was just lying on desk not being used. And suddenly it just restarted? Do you have similar problems? Any possible solutions?
Have a look at Settings > Accessibility > Dexterity and interaction, check if "Air wake up" is on.
If so, you've got your answer.
Edit: Oops ! Didn't read closely enough, RESTART, not turning on suddenly. So just ignore the above.
Had the same problem, the phone restarted itself 3-4 times a day and 3-4 more at night. It drove me nuts. Returned the phone to the store forgot about that problem. There are many people who have that annoying problem.

Returned and got replaced the unit? Or just returned and turned to other model?
How do you know that many people have this problem?
returned and stayed with my LG G PRO 2. Amazing device.
there are many reports on Google and YouTube for the same problem.
Mine used to do exactly the same when it was rooted with CF Auto Root, is your note 4 rooted? I've un-rooted and it didnt reboot since 3 weeks now. Used to reboot once or twice a day when it was rooted. Dunno what the problem is and why its related to root...
The UI just frozen and phone rebooted itself right after pressing calculator icon but the calc app never showed up...
This is the first time this happened on this device.
Yesterday my gear fit's display would not turn on while under exercise mode, the HR monitor was still activated. Forced the gear fit to reboot and the wallpaper reverted to the default by itself.
Looks like this phone needs a major update to Android 5.0.
Oh and by the way, the phone is stock and official, Model number is SM-N910G.
Reboot After rooting

Okay, this is what i did, fortunately i installed a custom rom on my SM-N910P (sprint, snapdragon) called enhanced rom, this rom brought with it an app called Kernel Adiutor, i opened and saw only 2 out of 4 cores were in use, so i turned them all 4 on and the phone stopped acting like that, it was instant, so if any of you has a rooted device and this problem just get the app and turn on all the cores in the CPU tab inside the app
The first one fixing it
Hello guys.
I searched on the forum and i couldnt find a answer that works for me.
I have a Galaxy s4 gt-i9505 for over a year, always using custom roms. A week ago, my phone starts randomly rebooting, and overheat. In less than 2 hour my battery was gone.
I did all wipes and the phone continued rebooting. Then I flashed the stock 5.0.1 rom, it restarted once or twice and stopped. But the overhead continued.
The last modification I made was an update in the rom I was using for over a month, and the update was a week before the reboots. I dont believe this is the cause.
Could it be a hardware problem?
Obs: the hottest part is below the flash of the camera.
Obs2: it usually happens when I turn wifi or 3g on.
Obs3: I have few apps installed. (Just social media)
This problem are happening with my S4 since the KitKat. It vibrate two times until turn on after randomly reboot. It happens like in this video (I can't post external link, so just search like below):
"GALAXY S4 Help, Power Cycle Problem, Overheats, Turns Off. Will it Blow Up and Catch on FIre?!"
My S4 is the I9505, I'm using the stock rom, stock kernel and no root. After a lot of wipe data/cache, ROM reinstall, the problem continues. No matter the rom, the kernel, if are root or not. I've tested other battery, but the problem persisting
"Obs: the hottest part is below the flash of the camera.

Same Symptoms.
Ever since I installed 5.0 on my Nexus 10 I've been having a problem where if the screen gets turned off, wifi will shutoff, which is great for saving battery but not for downloading a couple of Gigs of comics while I sleep. I have the option set to never turn off wifi when sleeping, but it still does, I've toggled it on and off and rebooted with no fixes. When 5.1 came out I did a complete wipe of everything, all my personal data, downloads, everything back to factory except with the 5.1 image. Thought that might help, but I still have the same problem.
I've always run Stock on my Nexus 10, never installed any ROMs, was briefly rooted, but that was a year or so ago and didn't' feel the need to re-root after an update.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or what I should check?
Thanks,
Andrew
My apologies I realized I forgot to put the [Q] in my title and I am unable to edit the title of the post.
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this?

This is strange, I've never had this problem on stock. Are you sure you wiped /data? A full factory reset through twrp should take care of it. If that doesn't work, you could try another ROM. I've been using Chroma 5.1.1 on my Nexus 10, and it's beautiful.

I'm not using any ROM. This is stock. The one time I wiped out was using the built in factory reset.
Is you Nexus plugged into power while it is asleep. If mine is plugged into the charger wifi stays on even if the tablet screen is dark but the tablet is still operating. If it is running on batteries wifi will turn off when the tablet goes to sleep and reduced power mode is activated.

Doesn't matter if it is plugged in or not. And it is set to never sleep WIFI. So it should't matter.
I am having the same problem with a Nexus 10 I just picked up. Its 100% stock and came with 4.2. I upgraded it last night and it was downloading the updates with the screen off, but now I'm on 5.1.1 and the wifi turns off a few seconds after the screen even though it's set to always on.
