Soft keys are white and the home button is the circle button on soft key's Nova Launcher is a good one to use far as launchers go and why did you only make backup of boot and system you should make a full nandroid backup of complete system, apps, data,boot,etc...If you backup rom correctly it will restore like it was.. I don't know of any lg g2 roms on Nexus 4 which has great roms I use chroma myself which runs great just have a look on development forum and pick one.. Hope I helped..[emoji41]

Are you talking about the Home Menu under Settings->Devices? I am on LMY48M and it is there for me. I can toggle between either Launcher and Google Now Launcher which are the 2 I have installed. Have you installed another launcher? It may just not show unless you have more than 1 launcher to choose from, but have never thought to look.

(first post) how do i add menu key

Gday! I was wondering if there are any mods out there that add the menu key permanently just like you can with cyanogen mod. I'm not interested in ROMs as they are giving me a hard time by always boot looping and then me having to fresh install and unlock etc etc. I'm doing just fine with normal zips, though. BTW the kind of menu key I'm talking about is the four line one with a longer line at the top, not the four dots one that opens when developers opt for it. Thanks in advance

Hi there cnamon15! I understand what you are asking for, but I think you can only enable a permanent menu button through a custom rom unfortunately I don't think there is an app that allows you to create a nav bar menu icon (unless someone else knows of one :laugh. If you can't install a custom rom, unfortunately there isn't much out there. Maybe try and load CM or even PA or AOKP again ensuring you do the factory rest, wipe cache and dalvik so that you don't boot loop. Hope that helps
Ahh do you mean I wipe dalvik & cache before? Lol I must be a huge noob. Also i've done so much theming on my phone that it pretty much isn't looking stock anymore. Is there a way I could grab the framework/apk Of the menu thingy from pa or cm or aokp and flash on my stock? I want to keep using stock so I can get updates in a timely manner.

No. You will get into a bootloop. What have you done to your "stock" phone? There are some things that if you change, you will not be eligible to get OTA updates.
Yes it sounds like you may be missing a step in your process of flashing custom roms. First off make a nandroid of your setup now then follow the OP directions to flash a rom which is basically factory reset, flash rom, gapps and reboot. FYI- worrying about staying stock for updates to me in meaningless especially if you are on xda. The updated rom will come in either a form of a stock rooted rom or custom roms but either way you will have it...
Since I wiped my phone I only have Franco kernel and touch sensitivity mod. Most of the other customisations came from apks. I also have changed my navbar theme to something with a reflection
Edit: btw that menu button you see below is from the app!

Help Flashing Split View by Bigfau

I am wanting to install the LG G Flex Split View mod by Bigfau on my rooted LG G2 but I do not know how to "Flash in recovery and reboot."
Can anyone help me through this process? I was reading up on the flash guide here on the forum and saw that I needed a custom recovery installed before flashing. Is this really needed to just add the split view feature? If so, how can I go about doing this?
thx

yea, unfortunately, a custom recovery is needed to flash any mods or zips. It does not work with stock recovery. The only thing you can flash with stock recovery is a rom, but since you need gapps and so on for the rom to work properly, you need a custom recovery.
I find TWRP the easiest recovery to work with, here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449679
There is no need for custom recovery... Use the Flash Gordon app from play store. All you need is root and busybox. You can flash zips but not ROMS..

Hmmm, two different answers. Thanks for the quick replies though.
I don't think I need any roms, I am just trying to take the zip file mod in the link and get it working on my stock LG G2. I know it will work on the stock Verizon phone, but I have no idea how to do the flashing.
If I use an app from the play store, I read that it may, "lack the ability to wipe the Dalvik cache (affecting the JIT compiler)." Will this be a problem for me?

I'll go ahead and try it out later today. I am not against installing a custom recovery if it is useful later. But I don't plan on installing any custom roms ever. Is there any use for a custom recovery outside of custom roms that cannot be accomplished by Flash Gordon App?

The ability to backup your device (make a NANDROID, as it is called). If you have a rooted device and intend to mess with it, I would say that a nandroid backup is a must . The good thing about a nandroid, something which Titanium Backup can't is to restore the whole system and boot. On the other hand, you might find some apps missing, so it's best to back up apps though Titanium Backup and your system/boot etc through Custom Recovery.
Oh and by the way, please tell me how the split-view thingy works once you have done it

I wish you a smooth, error-free process
Did not work with busybox + flash gordon. Seems the .zip contains some system files which are not able to be edited through flash gordon. I'll try to install a custom rom then I guess.
Will installing a custom recovery via this method work?

To set split view whiich works wonders wen modding phones ? you have to set one of your nave bars to open it mine is set as the back button. Long press is why you just press the front nav bar in stead off tapping it. Correct me if im erong but i think you must also be running xposed installer with one of the g2 settings apps found in the playstore. I flashed split view using flashify and it works fine munis not being able to use the knock feature wen engaged.

I do not have xposed and holding down the back button launches the program for me.
The program works after installing it from recovery in TWRP, but after installation, I pressed wipe cache and it was in the process when my phone screen turned off. I couldn't get it to turn back on, and eventually just held down the power button for 10 seconds to get it to boot normally. It works now, but what can I do to avoid that happening again?
That im not too sure about wen i wipe my chace and dalvik it completes the action and just romdomly cuts the phone off. When ever your wiping i say the best thing to do is just too make sure you have a back in cases something goes wrong

[Request] LG G2 Stock Launcher Backup Option

Hi Guys. Not sure if this is possible or not. I really love the stock G2 launcher. Is there any way to setup a backup home screens option like Nova Launcher has? I never dirty flash ROMS. Always do a fresh install and this would be an awesome option to have. Setting up home screens every time takes a bit but it's doable. I feel this would be a great option to have. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. Please move it if necessary.
Why dont you back up the app with titanium backup ? Then when you install a new ROM, just restore its "data". Should work... I hope..
Homescreen settings - Home backup&restore

[Root] Problem :\

Hey this is my first thread here and I'm sorry I didn't make an introduction but, I just rooted my phone yesterday. It was successful and I made a backup using titanium but the thing is I started deleting apps and bloat ware from the uninstall in titanium and well I deleted this program called like touchwiz because it was installed with this software I downloaded from Google play called like Iphone 7 screen lock or something and anyways it came with it and changed some things in my settings and I agreed. Once I deleted that I couldn't press the home button since it was linked to the deleted touchwiz which apparently took control of the home button and well my home screen when completely black and so I restarted my phone. Next thing I know I can't get passed this loading screen. Please help :\ sorry for the bad light as my computers literally in my closet and the light bulb screw is too rusty to take out. Please help! h t t p: / / i . i m g u r . c o m / 8 M q C B n l . j p g / <- Remove the spaces it's been on like that for hours, I've even tried restarting it and it wouldn't change..
Well looks like you killed your launcher (and or part of the actual ROM). But...
What happens if you press menu? Do you have the option managing apps? If you do see if you can open Titanium and restore it. Or if you can open play store and search for a launcher - nova or something.
Have you tried to go into the stock recovery (assuming you haven't already added a custom one) and run factory reset?
Did you enable usb debug mode and unknow sources? If so you may be able to push over the needed apk (and .odex file if you are still on stock) via ADB.

Well you could grab the stock MK2 Odex from here.
Then use ADB (via USB cable to you PC) to push the files over (if the phone shows up).
Problem is do you know the actual name of the file you deleted vs the 'displayed' name.
Or you could PC Odin a recovery (like Philz or TWRP) boot to that custom recovery and flash the above mentioned stock ROM (or actually any ROM in the dev section; so long as you follow the OP's flashing instructions)

If you install the odexed ROM then you shouldn't have to push anything. You should be good to go once installed. May have to do a battery pull to get first boot.
ADB = android debug bridge. It's a command line tool used to communicate with your device.
edit: here's a very good walkthrough

Big launcher problem.

Hello, yesterday i installed sense 8 home launcher on my TURBO Clark ROM which was nice i really enjoyed the launcher. But today i decided to try another ROM so i wiped and then flashed the new ROM as usual but when it booted up, the launcher was still there and i cant find it anywhere on the phone and can't uninstall it. I later tried to wipe all my internal storage which didn't work either so now every ROM i install there's a stupid HTC launcher... How can i get it away?? Thank you.
Try to change another launcher at - settings - home

When you installed the new Rom, you wiped everything in TWRP first, because it sounds like you installed the new rom on top of the old one.

That is odd, that an app still shows up on a new Rom from a prior installation even after wiping everything.
