Hey All,
I see that the Australian 2015 Sony Android TVs are bundled with some decent apps that are missing from the Nexus Players Google Play Store supported app list, namely the Freeview Catchup Apps (iView, Plus7, 9Jumpin, TENplay, SBSOnDemand). Can anyone advise if the APKs for these apps can be extracted from the Sony Android TVs? If so, does anyone feel like providing the to me to test on my Nexus Player?
Much appreciated.

Hello!
I am looking into this device as a google guy, but am concerned because of the Nexus Q a while back. Google made the product and it just vanished with no support. Is this device fated for the same? I want this to be good.
Also, does this have the capabilities of installing normal android apks? What I would like to see is an emulator installed and to play snes ROMs on the TV with the controller. I didnt' see specs for a microSD slot, so I don't think it has this kind of capability.
Am I wrong?

There is a ton of easily found info that you'll need to read, probably could have found before making this thread...

They have apps on fire tv but can these not run on NVIDIA SHIELD? IF ITS an apk file..

I've wondered this too, I know that in the early days people had a little success with the Nexus Player for some US on-demand apps. Problem is I've never been able to obtain the exact Amazon apks. Somebody from the UK needs to extract them from a Fire TV. It seems that there isn't nearly as much of an Android TV app deficit in the US any more so the UK apps that you list are the biggest ones still missing from the Android TV ecosystem, at least they are for UK users. The way in which Amazon considers itself to be in such a cut-throat competition with the rest of the Android world, I wouldn't be surprised if they've locked their TV apps down from use on any other Android devices, while they pretty much beg developers to bring their tablet apps over from the Play Store... I digress.
If somebody is willing to extract the apps you list and any of them actually work, this tool would be really useful.
I'm having a hard time confirming if it will, some sites say tablets only. I installed it from my browser as it appears the app is officially supported. I'm guessing there will be some Kodi options if not.
I doubt it will. It didn't have the option to stream during playoffs either.
Well, the latest update (feb 4th) seems to mention live streaming of superbowl and on cbs superbowl website they do mention AndroidTV as one of the devices for streaming the game live. I guess we'll see. I don't have any links in the app for live streaming - not sure if it will just appear or how it will work.
It will be live from the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick and is advertised heavily there with the CBS Sports app.
Yes, I know that the Amazon devices are not Google TV, but they do run customized Android and not tablets or phones, so they show promise for the Super Bowl to play live on the Nexus Player, although I am concerned that there are no ads promoting it.
There is absolutely no mention of superbowl inside the nexus player app. No link. Just the regular nfl and other sports video clips. I'm hoping it somehow incorporates a link at the time of the kickoff... but I have doubts.
I mean they do specifically mention AndroidTV on CBS's website... but there is no indication of it from inside the app itself.
The pregame show is live on the app! Yeeei So there's hope for the game as well. The link appeared at 2 pm ET inside the app.

how you think it's possible get app from sony or samsung tv and put it in nexus and play some ps3 game use this services?
It would be nice. Sony is looking to go into the mobile division. They acquired Onlive. That service could stream fine over wifi. Had one, loved it.. It would be the easy, cool, practical.
I have a Sony TV which had the Playstation Now apk but I can't start it because it's not supported in my country. Anyone interested in the apk ?
I would love the apk. You still got it?
Dunno if this is due to the fact that Microsoft announced that Win11 allows one to use Android apps, but Google has officially announced it is moving away from APKs to Android Play Bundles. What will this mean for us using current Google Playstore apps on our Nvidia Shield Pro? Or is this an Android related issue that will be solved by Android itself?
Google is a dumpster fire.
Out of which we grab Android apps. What is your concern about it (sorry, Android newbie online)?
