Hi All
Just had an upgrade to the Note 3. It was originally locked to 3 mobile but I have unlocked to use on O2. I'd like to get rid of the 3 mobile splash screen etc.
I've read through a few of the posts on here and I'm unsure as to how to go about doing the flash. I'm confused over the Knox thing. I am only wanting to flash the firmware not root.
Please can someone point me in the right direction......?
from what i have heard and what ppl have tried you will need to flash the SAME regions firmware as the one that came with your phone by default.. BTU has the region code "XX", so you will have to check to see your region code.. go to about phone and check it will something like this, "ZHUDMJ1 or XXUBMJ1".. the first 2 letter are the region code "ZH" and "XX" are just examples, your region code maybe different than those 2.. you can flash a different countries firmware if it has the same region code as yours

thank u for lighting me up about what firmware we need to flash to our note 3...
just want to ask if it's possible to flash this new firmware e.g XXUBMJ6
over to my rooted note 3 XXUBMJ1 and how?..help much appreciated
Anyone?
When I flashed one of the original Knox safe rooted firmwares, it inadvertently changed my CSC.
I have managed to get it back to what it should be, but the key is to use the same version as the one currently on the phone.
At the time it was MJ1 that was installed on my phone, and it was only variants of that version I used to get back to normal. The problem is when someone tries to downgrade. It wasn't really an exact science to getting it back to BTU either. More of a trial and error thing. I flashed, BTU firmware, wiped, opened recovery to check the CSC status, it still showed the wrong one, flashed again, loaded the phone up into the setup (as the phone gets wiped when changing CSC) was still bringing a foreign setup process, wiped and flashed again checked recovery and eventually it ended up where it should be.
So I think you should be able to debrand and the CSC with it to get official updates. But since they released the Note 3, flashing has become greater risk.

I believe I can't ask you to check your about device, since you are stuck at ODIN mode already.
From what you are saying you are on latest Germany firmware, if I'm not wrong it should be ND3 Kitkat.
Did you try to root using the correct file of CF-Autoroot ? I mean did you use the correct file for the Kitkat N9005 version ?
Since now you are left with no other choice, I suggest you to download the same firmware of ND3 - DBT version again (if you still want to stick with germany firmware).
But if you want the latest one, you can try Singapore XSP NE4 (I'm not sure, but some users reported the NE4 XSP is not so good in dealing with GPS).
It's up to your choice mate. But if you are worry too much, you can just grab the ND3 - DBT (I'm not sure the germany this one still need the .PIT file or not), or any other Europe firmwares (try not to grab the provider branded firmware)
You can find this on samfirmware.com
Once you get already, you can use ODIN v.3.0.9 to flash.
Let it boot... if you stuck at the N9005 logo, power it off (or take out battery for few secs and put it back), and then press vol up + home + power to go into stock recovery, and then choose factory reset and wipe cache, and then reboot.
Btw,
Reason why you are not able to flash the firmwares you are listed above, is because you are on Germany last built (ND3) with the ND bootloader. It is not possible for you to flash earlier firmware with earlier bootloader.
Hope you understand my long explanation
feel free to PM me if you need more help.
cheers.

First things first, I am not very techy and am only trying to accomplish one goal on my galaxy s5 - update to lollipop.
I'm trying to do it by going to Settings --> About device --> Software Update. Everytime I try it check's for updates and says 'The Latest Updates have already been installed'.
My device is unrooted and running Android 4.4.2 and is unlocked. My brother bought the exact same phone and got the update over FOA more than a month ago!
I can't find anywhere on the internet to help me out, I don't want to update manually.. I wan't to know why my device won't update automatically.
Any thoughts on what I can try? Does it need a factory reset? Has anyone else got this issue? Help much appreciated.
sorry my friend the only way is to manually update it using odin on computer.
but, you can try to connect your mobile with kies and see your csc country then look in sammobile website if your country csc got lollipop, if so try to factory reset and then check for an update , but first make backup of your data.

But why won't it update via FOA? Is this a common thing where Samsung picks and chooses who gets it (seems kinda wrong), or is it possible I've got a fake phone? I've got a lot of stuff on the phone and don't really wanna go through the whole backup system restore process. I type on google my problem and it just comes up with stupid articles like 'How's lollipop treating you'.. it's like nobody has my problem but me?
Did some more digging around and found the following info for my phone:
AP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CSC: G900FOXX1ANJ1
Searching the CSC on Sammobile tells me that the latest version for my phone is still 4.4.2 (not even 4.4.4?? It's like Samsung forgot about it).
Oddly, it says the country is Portugal (TPH) for this CSC, even though I bought a UK phone. This prompted me to check the IMEI on IMEI.info which confirms that the phone is legit..
I downloaded keys at it tells me the firmware version is:
PDA:NJ1 / CSC:NJ1 / PHONE:NJ1(TPH)
It says the latest firmware is already installed.
I'm wondering if my phone will ever get updated to lollipop (the fact that its still on 4.4.2 tells me maybe never). So I want to try and do this manually. Is there a way to change the country code? Will this void my warranty? Or can I manually force lollipop onto the phone via Kies? Do I need to root?
Some clear instruction for me to follow would be much appreciated. Thanks guys

yes it is... but i want lollipop .. will it void it? If yes thats ok Ill go ahead anyway
Rather than focusing on the goal of upgrading to lollipop, do some research about whether you actually want/need to.......
Quite a few members have posted here about problems and instabilities with lollipop.
Also, if you intend to root your device and tweak/modify it, the general advice is to stay at 4.4.2, as 5.0.0 tends to 'reduce the possibilities'......

I have no idea if it will void the warranty. When I flashed my device to 5.0 with the Polish release my CSC changed to XEO from H3G and my knox is still 0x0. What is your carrier? Head over to sammobile.com and download the rom corresponding to your carrier, and flash it as normal.

^^ I am currently flashing back to 4.4.2 so my stability and battery life isn't wrecked. I would also recommend staying on KitKat.
5.0.0 seems to be (by all accounts) a bit of a 'rush job'......
5.0.1 and/or 5.0.2 will be more polished and stable.....
Also Samsung have (from what I've read) included a new 'secure' bootloader with 5.0 and beyond, which apparently is causing 'issues'.........

The latest firmware for Portugal TPH is 4.4.2, Lollipop for that region has not been released yet.
If your brother has 5.0 on his phone with UK firmware than he most likely has BTU firmware
You can update yours to BTU which as actually a UK & Europe generic multi CSC firmware from Sammobile here. LINK
You will need to download it you will need Odin to do it, but after installing you will need to do a factory reset otherwise you CSC will not change and the phone will be unstable
Lollipop 5.0 for me is extremely stable and battery life far better than any other version I have had, screen clip below shows 2 days 20 hours since last charge and phone at 62% this is with light usage though

Hi ag4751.. this sounds good.. I will get odin and try this. Do you mind being more specific about the factory reset? Is this something I do within settings or do I need to do that volume up power off button thing and access the function from there? Also (probably silly question) but does factory resetting completely wipe all my data and apps? thanks

Yes, factory reset will basically wipe you apps, data everything so backup everything, pictures, music etc, anything that is on your internal storage your External SD Card wont be touched everything else will, It resets the phone to the out of the box condition so if for example you are on level 300 in candy crush unless its synced up to facebook you will be back at level 1.
You do the Factory reset through Settings > User and Backup > Backup and Reset.
You will need to enable Developer Options in About Device if not already done as you need to enable USB Debugging.
Factory resetting is a last resort normally but it does tend to clear a lot of problems if the phone is not working properly but do it after you have flashed the new rom.
This is a good guide to using Odin, its on the S3 forum but the procedure is exactly the same with the S5, If you download the BTU rom it will contain a single .tar file you need to extract that from the zip file.
Reply here is you have any other questions regarding flashing with Odin it is simple but if you are not used to it, it can be worrying.
Cool. I'm downloading the firmware now. I've got USB debugging enabled. A question about the factory reset though. Is there a reason why we do this within Settings and not by pressing the power-->volume down--> home button and accessing those options? Under that menu there is also a 'wipe cache' option. Basically I was planning to flash the firmware using odin, then immediately factory reset and wipe cache before actually loading up lollipop. Does that sound ok?

You can do it that way, the only reason Factory Reset is in setting is to save you having to boot into recovery to do it, its exactly the same, there are additional wipe options in recovery such as cache and the factory reset, a factory reset will wipe the cache as well when its run you don't need to do it separately.
If you want to wipe the cache and factory reset from recovery it wont hurt anything.

Hi! I've been searching all over the internet for any way to do this, until I got to the point in which I'm not sure it's even possible.
So I finally decided to ask here.
Is there any way I can flash a stock G900F firmware (more specifically, one of the ILO's versions since I live in Israel) on my SM-G900P?
During my search I've come across pit files, csc codes, firmwares, adb and whatnot. I can't make any sense out of it any more.
I've searched this entire post and found nothing that works for me.
I have tried every method that I could, but it just won't cut it.
Every time when I try to flash the European PIT file or the general G900F PIT file or the ILO (android 5.0) stock firmware, I get a security check error.
When it's the rom, I get security check: aboot. When it's the PIT file I'm trying to flash I get security check: PIT.
Some say you can't flash G900x roms on a G900y phone. Some say you can. I'm very confused, I have no idea what to do, and my
stock G900P firmware is giving me some issues (let alone not being in my native language).
My sister bought this phone for me, and it had an Hebrew option, but it was running a firmware far from a stock one.
It also had many problems and bugs and freezes, so I changed the firmware to match the model. Can anyone help me, please??
Hi
For your S5 G900P model there is already 6.0.1 rom download the firmware and install it through ODIN
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G900P/
download any country S5 G900P 6.0.1 firmware it will work
Dont try to install other variants firmware to yours it might brick your device

My problem is the default G900P firmware. Even on the latest PVPU3CPCA
running Marshmallow 6.0.1, the phone itself ignores calls sometimes and notifactions.
Yesterday I got a call without my phone ringing at all. It didn't show there was an unanswered call.
I get disconnections and many other problems, even with the default firmware.
This is why I ask if I can change my default firmware, or just give up on my phone.
Note: I've managed to install 5.0.1 Lollipop default firmware (BOK4) and install Cyanogenmod 12 for my model. It is working but the call ignores and disconnections and the notifcations ignores still persist. Should I just give up and sell my phone?

Try other country firmware, there may be bugs that came by default with your country firmware
Try to clean install firmware by going to recovery and clear cache and data
No you can't flash stock firmware for a different model S5
Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll flash my stock G900P Marshmallow firmware.
I will however, change my mobile network supplier, and report here the results.
It could be a compatibility issue with Samsung.

I have used TWRP to factory reset and reset data. Afterwards I flashed a stock
G900P (lollipop, I believe) firmware which I got from Sammobile.
Then my device updated to G900PVPU3CPE1 using OTA update.
I did already try all of the 4 variants (unknown and Sprint), all had these issues with them.
Note: I used to have G900PVPU3CPCA. Now it is CPE1. Not sure how this will effect anything.
I have relative problem but in my case the phone give two different version whith phone checking by 1234 it say it's G900F model AP:G900FXXU1BOC1, CP:G900FXXU1BOC7, CSC:G900FITV1BOC1 but when I check with phone info apk all information is for G900P I ready try to update to MM6 with G900P stock firmware and then the phone IMEI changed to 9....serie after when I restaure the backup ROM the phonegive now many issues like COMEBACK and MENU KEYS don't work, when I receive a call the phone restart and camera don't work if sameone have solution , I thanks in advance
dont flash a tar.md5 on your G900P thats for another variant, it could hard brick your device. The problem youre having with missing calls isnt from the firmware. Are you not using it on sprint anymore? I saw your mention of Hebrew on it which leads me to think that youre using it outside of the US, if thats the case, the phone is entirely capable of using non-US GSM carriers, I used mine in Romania and Bulgaria this summer with zero issue.

Whatever model it says in download mode is the correct model, the rest are faked to sell a different model phone as a more popular one
now what to do to make it working like before on GSM
I live in Ghana. I bought my Galaxy s5 from a store. Obviously they said it is brand new. I went back to office and tried updating to marshmallow and I was informed that the phone has been changes in an unauthorized way so I should download the update via kids or smartswitch.
Mind you, the phone came with a firmware for model g900f (I couldn't write down the firmware details since I did not know what they meant then). I thought it was a firmware error so I wanted to upgrade manually, and when I booted to download mode I rather found the model to be a g900p.
After flashing back to g900p I cannot flash back to g900f because the phone is inactivated even though I use a high speed wifi, I cannot access lots of functions like find my samsung.
I know there is a way to flash back to g900f. Please help me and my friend up there. Thank you
guys, you can use a g900p in countries outside of the USA. I just did that less than 6 months ago (Romania and Bulgaria). What errors are you getting when you pop the sim card in? Is youre device rooted with a custom recovery? what ROM and baseband are you on? Certain ROMs only need you to run the SSU.apk to unlock the global capability of it. Also, idoneapps.com is a place you can go to fully unlock the device. @idone and @Nodial are the forum moderators over there and they are likely the smartest guys in the room

also, idoneapps.com charges $35 for their unlock service, but if youre at a dead end, its a price worth paying. Ive unlocked both of my G900Ps thru them, and their work is flawless
I just got my s7 edge G935F from UAE and it says United Arab Emirates under "about device"
Now i would like to get rid of that. Can i do so by simply flashing another rom (i would like the uk-BTU) using odin ? or do i need to change the csc code as well
i also want to get OTA updates in the future for the firmware i am flashing (uk in this case).... now i am getting ota from UAE.
Do i need to backup the efs partition?
I have flashed roms before on other devices, i am experienced. It is just that i am new to the s7 edge world, i just got it

If you want everything working properly, you need to do a clean ODIN flash. Download BTU firmware and flash all 4 files.
BL
AP
CP
CSC (Not Home_CSC)
This will wipe your internal storage so make a back up.
can i change my uk ee rom btu? Then i want to put nougat on the device :0)
or you can just flash nougat beta with odin and your csc will be btu
My case is exactly like yours, so let me know about your progress
Rember that the CSC file can also the flashed standalone, to change the CSS, done it several times.
To be honest im unsure of the OTA when you do it this way.
I have never been an OTA guy, hehe.
