Nexus Player- Sideloaded MovieHD Cannot Open Menu - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trouble Navigating Sideloaded App Menu
I've sideloaded the following apps without any issue: Show Box, TVMC, and MovieHD.
After opening MovieHD I can't seem to get the menu in the upper left hand corner to open and slide out like it does on my phone to access the app menu. Currently, the only thing that shows up that I can navigate is the Movie update section. I have tried with the included remote and a bluetooth mouse.
Anyone have a fix for this issue?
I appreciate the help.
K

Are you running Android v5.1 or higher on your Nexus Player? If so, that's the reason why you can't access the 3 dots or hamburger menu in some sideloaded apps. You should email the developer of the app to see if they can fix the problem in a future update.

[Q] app menu crashes whenever I search

Whenever I'm in the applications menu > press the menu button > select SEARCH without a doubt it crashes, (but not into a reboot) kicks me out of the app menu and back to the home screen where I have to wait about 15 seconds for all the icons and widgets to reload before being able to do anything.
The phone was previously rooted until I foolishly updated to .621 and just until recently I was running the Nemus Launcher though I doubt that has anything to do with the current problem.
I searched both on XDA and on the internets but did't see anyone else having this issue though it could be my wording that's hindering the find.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

my internet settings for aren't displayed + no play store my apps tab

Hi everyone I just got the galaxy s4 since my razr hd broke. In chrome i can't access the settings tab to switch to desktop mode or any other options. In the play store i can't see the "my apps" tab. I have to manually update each app by going to the play store on my computer or searching for the app in the play store on my phone. Also i can't uninstall apps from the phone by dragging and dropping into the remove area. I have to either go into the settings or search for it in play store and uninstall it through there.
Just from what I am reading it seems like you used an older version of chrome and play store.
You should have to press the menu key to get to my apps in the play store.
In the newer version of chrome the tabs are up top and the menu is accessed by the menu key. Press the tab number on the right side to access the tabs. To access a desktop view press the menu button and select "Request desktop view” in the menu.
As for removing apps. That was something I had to get used to too.

Ok thank you so much. I didn't know the menu button accesses things like that. On my razr in chrome i had the settings menu beside the tabs and in the app store i could just slide to the right and it would be a "my apps tab". That sucks for removing apps though.

[Q] menu button and nearby devices

hi there,
1. i notice that since my S5 which had LP installed, on S7e i cant use the menu button for menu actions cause it is always forces the recent app screen, when i use xda app on my S7e i cant seem to reply or add a new message because isted of showing me the menu of the thread if i press menu button it goes to recent or if i try to press a little longer it give me a notice that xda app does not support multy window.
no matter what i try i cant seem to use the button as menu. and i cant seem to find in settings how to turn it off or at least turn of multy window which will probably will help to use menu button as menu.
/ found a solution for that problem....its called multy window toggle for samsung from play store. stops the annoying multy window.
for the google now that keeps popping on home button just need to uninstall google app and force it to factory app and it wont pop by pressing home button.
2. also on my older S5 with LP i had the option to share media with my ADB streamer via nearby devices in the settings menu. once i open the nearby devices i had few option on which file to share and to which device. but now in the S7e i have the nearby devices but i cant seem to share media with my streamer no more, plus i dont see any option to share media except the on off button and small explanation text about the nearby thing.
for this issue i still didnt find any solution.
both S5 and S7e are stock, my S5 is rooted tho.
can anyone enlighten me about this. maybe i just missed something about both issues ?
thanks for helpers

OUYA compilation of tweaks/apps/work arounds

Hi guys/gals, since its been months/years since i last touched this device i figured ill update everything to get a full Kodi experience running off cm11 the aim was:
1. full control (after setup) using just the ouya controller
2. the directional pad works to navigate in all fields/settings of kodi
3. auto loads kodi on boot, home button on ouya keeps you in kodi
4. bluetooth stays on after reboot, just press the home button and the controller will turn on and connect
5. can shutdown/reboot/turn screen off from kodi
6. the navigation bar will always be hidden and not pop up while using android apps in kodi
steps/apps required/downloads:
1. using Ouya SuperScript By TehCrucible install cwm 6.0.4.8
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ouya/development/tool-ouya-superscript-one-click-cwm-t2835358
2. from cwm recovery install the boot menu by Hal9k, cm11 nightly by milaq, gapps, and button mappings
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692843
3. from the play store install kodi, xbmc launcher, power menu (ROOT), Home2 Shortcut
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.xbmc.kodi&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.blunden.xbmclauncher&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.littlevictor.powermenu&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eikatou0.appspot.home2shortcut&hl=en
4. install XposedInstaller_v2.6.1_by_SolarWarez_20151129.apk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64063168&postcount=62
5. from xposed you want to download and install nomoreoverlay, gravitybox [kk], stopswitchdelay, nousbnotification.
nomoreoverlay prevents the screen flickering and having to go into dev settings after every reboot.
gravitybox is used to hide the navigation bar using 0% dimensions. prevents it from popping up when in kodi using android apps.
powermenu (root) works with the directional pad of the controller and is a popup window style.
home2 shortcut keeps the Bluetooth from turning off after a reboot/shutdown and enables double tap on the home button.
in home2 shortcut:
step 1 is where you choose your preferred launcher in cm11 (im using nova you can make a shortcut to expand notification on the desktop and after a bit of tweaking the directional pad works in the app drawer).
step 2 set it to very long interval (the home button is mushy on the ouya controller).
step 3 set it to xbmc launcher.
this setup boots straight to kodi, single tap home stays in kodi, bluetooth stays on after reboots/shutdowns, double tap to get into nova for access to android settings.
in kodi:
using the confluence skin. go to programs > android apps > power menu and favourite it.
change the skin to mimic then go to settings > setup menus and widgets > scroll down to add > choose item for menu > favourite > power menu.
i haven't tested everything but mimic skin seems the best for kodi when using the controller imo. if you want the whole favourites folder as a main menu in the home screen under change action manually input "ActivateWindow(Favourites)"
and thats pretty much it. disable any notifications sounds in cm, notification counts, heads up, the quick settings panel (prevents accidental clicks disabling bluetooth). freeze/uninstall any unnecessary apps using titanium backup eg messengers/gmail etc.
if you want to always enable adb via network just reboot into cwm recovery mount the system and pull the build.prop edit in a text editor push it back chmod it and unmount courtesy of tcollum.

edit: i was wrong looks like the bluetooth disabling has something to do with the boot animation themeing i recommend https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cm12.theme&hl=en as its short and shouldn't have a problem
Wow, thanks. Will try ir this weekend if I got time.

Split Screen, Android 8, Eonon GA9298B

Hi,
I recently bought a Eonon GA9298B and installed it in a 2010 mazda 6.
Android 8 is installed on it.
I'm trying to split screen, and I cannot do it, which I don't really anderstand, because this functionnality has been added with android 7 (I think)
I installed an app to force the option "split screen" to appear in the accessibility settings pannel
==> Is there a way to access to it without scheating with an app ?
When I do it, and try to aplit screen, it says that the application is not compatible.
I installed n app to access developper mode and force apps to resize
==> Is there a way to activate developper mode ? (7 tps on build version doesn't work)
This didn't work at all....
So, I've installed an app to launch two apps on the screen, side by side. But, when I click to "create shortcut", nothing can be adding to the desktop...
==> Do you have an idea about why is it not permitted ? How can I bypass this problem ?
Hoping I am clear enough ...
Thanks a lot
So when you long press on the 'previous apps' button at the top of the screen, nothing happens? It's the icon that looks like two overlapping rectangles (usually).

No, it doesn't do anything...
The thing is that I have no option to activate this feature in the settings.
I tried to use the Split Screen Shortcut app to be able to activate it. Then, when I long press the "previous apps" button, it says that the application does not support split screen...
I followed a video to force the support via the developer settings to force the apps to be resizable.
Here too, I had to use a developer shorcut app because I cannot find how to enable the developer settings on this device...
