I recently broke my Nexus 5 beyond repair, so I ordered an LG G2 D802 because i got a nice deal for it, it hasnt arrived yet but I dont want the experience to change much from my Nexus, what is the best ROM that will give me the most Nexus-Like, GPE style experience for my new G2? keep in mind I need to be as close to stock google nexus as possible, I dont need all the fancy CM12 stuff...

SlimSaber(pure AOSP,but heavily enchanced for speed and battery life),AOSPA,AICP,CM12.1 .
To be honest,CM12.1 and SlimSaber are my favorites.

There is a 5.1 Omni release for our device?
Could you share a link?
Euphoria obviously, if you like more kernel settings, or dirty unicorns for more usual settings. They, and desolation rom, are the smoothest, but the last time I tried desolation it has bugged unlock method selection menu. Some people encounter random vibration problems, just completely delete the default launcher. I also delete mpdecision file if the kernel has a replacement.

Hello
I have been a Nokia user for as long as I remember but I've got bored of the whole windows thing so I recently brought an LG G2 in the United Kingdom which is unlocked and running the stock 4.2.
It has now got to a stage where its really laggy and unreliable. Browsing is becoming hit and miss and everything is grinding to a halt. This is one of the most powerful phones out there and it is on par with the N5 which is basically the same phone underneath so it must be the software. I've seen a friends nexus 4 which is on KitKat and runs beautifully and a lot faster than mine.
So I was wondering where do I start? I just want stock 4.4 and I don't want to wait till march. Double tap is required and that it. I just want bare bones android and I want it to run fast.
There are so many mods out there but which one is closest to the stock experience with double tap? What will I need?
Thank you for your help!
Jay
You want to rid yourself of the stock rom, yet you ask for a rom that's close to the stock rom...
Sounds more like you got something slowing your phone down. And also sounds like you're upset that nexus 4 has 4.4 and you don't want to be left out till March.
Maybe use the term" vanilla ore stock android"

Hello
I was saying that I wanted the stock ROM as in pure android and not the bloated G2 software. There is a lot of stuff that I really don't need and I want something cleaner.
I'm not going to lie I am a little upset about the phone not having 4.4 and the modder within me wants to root it and get 4.4 on there. I know it can be done bit seeing as this is my first android (apart from a galaxy ace that I had and promptly returned a few years back) I don't know where to start or which mod to use.
Thank you
Jay
CM11 is your best bet for Android 4.4. There are all sorts of guides online to guide you through it.

It's "user error", the user killed the smartphone with bloatware like facebook, facebook chat, facebook messenger etc

I agree, the stock ROM is a heaping pile of dung visually, but it's not slow. Some reviews said they saw occasional stuttering, which let's face it, Android does sometimes, regardless of ROM. The OP as described sounds like the phone was under water with something. I have yet to see my G2 do anything close to that and I tend to overload my phones.
So, I'm not sure a custom ROM would fix the exact situation the OP was in. But we'll probably never know why it happened either, so... Perhaps the OP should try to disable all apps they can in Settings->All that they aren't using and see where it goes from there. If they want to dive deeper, root it, pm disable the others that are safe. Of course a custom ROM is IMO easier and a better deal in the end, but that's up to them.
Root it and go to play store search "Disable Bloatware - Hide Apps" to disable/hide system apps that eats your battery. Then install stockMod kernel to remove the lagness with faux. And install nova launcher with kitkat theme to change lg ui to vanilla like rom. Install greenify to disable app temporary. If you are more adventurous install custom roms.
You don't like your G2.
You don't want 4.2.2.
You strongly demand 4.4
You strongly want stock ROM as close as AOSP.
The best bet is
1. Call Google, demand them to release 4.4 source code.
2. Call LG, demand them to release their on-top 4.4 source code.
3. Build yourself a ROM that close to stock ROM and AOSP (duhhh)
4. Read more threads under Development sub-section.
Hi all,
i was going to buy a g2 but as i always do i wanted to know first what roms are available and how they run. Have been reading through xda and how well are kitkat roms running on the g2 ? I read that slim has troubles, is this a general issue or just rom related ? what about PA or others ?
I ussually get a new phone every 2 / 3 years so that i want to make sure to have up to date os until then.
TIA !
there are some minor problems with PA roms. Nothing serious though.
LG will be releasing kitkat in some time (a month?), so there will be more roms based on KK.
For now You could choose between PA, CM11 (and roms based on), some slim kitkats, and there are a lot of stock based roms and roms ported from G Flex. I would say not bad at all. Go and check it out in Development sub forums.
Stock rom is also not bad - sure it is loaded with some bloatware but better than Glaxy's for sure

thanks for your reply !
i had only a brief look to the stock ui but im sure im going to hate it. I dont have anything against LGs ui, im just used to aosp roms and like their simplicity.
My concern isnt just about kk but beyond, i mean, this year google will release 4.5 ( or whatever they will call it) and my guess is that LG wont make it available for the g2.
Does anyone know LGs policy about os updates ? How have they handled previous updates for example ?
TIA
LG policy about updates is non existent LG G for e.g. . They were saying that they will change their approach to updates but...
I also like AOSP very much - was using nexus 4 for a year. For now i would say You could use PA on daily basis. There are some minor bugs. Battery life for me was worse form what i got on stock, that's why i'm switched back.
Other than that no crashes, reboots etc. Dunno about games though - they were some voices that some of them crashing
Personally I've bounced back and forth between stock and 4.4 Roms. Right now really happy running stock with xposed installed and using g2 exposed app in play store. Really able to do everything I personally want to be able to with that module.

First of all, hello to all Lg G2 users. I joined the family upgrading from S4 two weeks ago.
I was wondering why there isn't any pure AOSP rom? Is there a big reason or something? We got the same hardware as N5 and from my side i dont know why there aren't any pure AOSP roms at the top of all threds.
Btw the phone is great! And i really fell upgrading from S4 is a big defference.

well that's very simple if we were aiming for pure aosp experience than we would have opted for a nexus, actually that isn't true I'm pretty sure the reason there isn't a pure aosp rom is because nobody bothers to make one, there are alternatives like cm/aokp/pa and each one is better than pure because they have new things to play with, im pretty sure that it wouldn't be hard to make a pure aosp rom I mean it'd be a simple as taking cm, removing all the features and making it look as nexus as possible

Hi, just wondering what's up. I'd kill for CM12 or 13 on my brand new a5 2016.. what gives?
thanks!
We waited more than a year for the A5 2015 edition to get roms, and there are only about 2 serious developers working on it. It is likely that you will get very little to zero support for your phone, even less if you have the Exynos variant. If you want big custom rom support, buy a flagship or a Nexus. That is the best thing you can do. And what I have realised is before you buy a new phone, first search the XDA forums to see which is more popular and which have the most support.

Hey bro, I'm waiting too for any custom rom on my a3 2016, coz i'm getting sick of using laggy and bad looking touchwiz.
Please Devs, do smething for our devices....
I've always used CM or CM-based custom roms on all my phones, but (never thought I would say this) I'm quite liking TouchWiz. Everything works, no bugs. Good stock apps like calendar, camera and email. Theme engine is good enough. Unbelievable battery life.
Just root, install xposed, and you're good.

:good: Absolutely right! And if you don't like TouchWiz you can use other launchers ... - I think the A5 is one of the best phones I ever bought and do not see the need to use a custom rom.

agree. I have used kf rom for several weeks . but now back to the stock rom
You can port CM by yourself. There are a lot of porting guides on the internet, but... there aren't developers because there aren't much people with that device, maybe later there will be some developer with that phone or maybe not. As jnvdh06 said u have to buy a nexus if you want lots of roms, because google release all sources
I want to install a Custom ROM on my phone, as not only am I not a fan of LG's skin but the phone becomes slow at times, but the only thing is that it can't be Alpha Omega as for some reason that Rom doesn't seem to want to work, and I'm also not a fan of LG's Skin on my phone like whatsoever. So any help would be great!

I always preferred Resurrection Remix over stock LineageOS. Of course everyone has their own opinions.
I actually enjoy the Stock rooted experience of the V20, same with the Essential phone and now My 1+6t.
I have used the Pixel Experience on a Pocophone and it's pretty good. But sadly theirs no Development for it on the V20.

As it stands currently RR, and LOS 16 are your only AOSP options currently. Support for working GSI images may come in the future, but for right now thats pretty much your only AOSP options for the v20. Im getting a v30 in December, and honestly id recommend you'd do the same and just upgrade (if you have 200$ randomly just sitting around, also if youre okay with refurbs you can find a v30 refurb for like 190 on Amazon), v30 is just a better phone all around (except for the non-removable battery). Much more rom development options with the v30.
TL;DR
RR, LOS 16 are your AOSP options currently. Also AOKP exists but hasnt gotten an update in awhile.
