Flyme OS for N910C? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any chance someone could port this ROM from the MX5 (or MX4)? It looks absolutely gorgeous and has already been ported to a large number of devices. It's among the smoothest Android skins and looks totally different. I really hope that there will be a developer who can provide us with this unique software experience.

I think it is so hard for Exynos SoC.
(I have use Flyme OS for my previous Nexus 5 & Note 3 N9005.)

Wow, you were lucky to use Flyme. Exynos Galaxy S4 had Flyme OS but I think that it was due to the same Exynos 5410 as in Meizu MX3. Athough, in what ways the Snapdragon 800 powered phones (Nexus 5 and Note 3) are easier to develop for? Is it because of source code or what? Cause I want Flyme on my Note 4 badly...

I need to keep this topic as high as possible, according to poll, Flyme OS seems to be pretty well received .

Leave a reply, guys. Maybe someone who is interested in making ROMs will port it!:fingers-crossed:

Meizu Pro 5 is out - and it uses Exynos 7420 which shares a lot of elements with Exynos 5433. Is there any chance that we could finally get Flyme OS for our Note 4?:fingers-crossed:

Gaming & retrogaming : Vulkan 3D API (Low Level) support on Zenfone 2

Hi ! Someone know anything about it ? Asus gonna release Android Marshmallow on Zenfone 2, and the GPU (PowerVR G6430) is compatible with this new api but do you think they gonna release this update with last build of android with Vulkan ? (Google announced this API will be compatible Marshmallow.)
Vulkan really increase performances with our GPU (PowerVR G6430) :
And a technical demo (real time) of vulkan on smartphones with Unreal Engine 4 :
No, asus has never been good with optimizing gpu, camera
But they are changing , who knows. , well if 820 also supports it, because s7 has it why does not lg g5 and mi5 have it.
Either its quite new to do developers or they aint interested in it
Wow, that demo video is jaw dropping. It's incredible what mobile devices are capable of these days.
I hope this happend
Maybe you can write this in here

Only the U.S. version on s7 has the 820 everyone else will be using the exynox chip
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using XDA Free mobile app
Exynos is just hyped overloaded trash. No CPU documentation No SRC is worthless to us XDA users. Even QSD820 can barely make the AOSP or CM make work properly..Oh and the Bootloader, It's got a chastity belt from samhell...
I suppose this opens up a lot more for smartphones in terms of graphic capabilities, hope soon I will be able to play a ported version of Star Wars Battlefront 2 on my phone (yeah I could use the PSP version but that version of the game sucks).
And yes more than likely Vulkan support is coming in the Marshmallow update.
hi, I'm very interested in everything about vulkan since i could see some videos about it. But my knowledge about api, android and rom's is not that good, so i would thank you if i could get some answers.
1 - Is this implementation of API a work for ASUS or Intel?
2 - Since i saw that PowerVR Rogue has now SDK(i dont know what it is) for Vulkan, Is ANYONE able to make a custom rom that could use Vulkan?
3 - I've heard that Android N will have native support for Vulkan. Does it mean that if i download a custom rom, like a cyanogenmod, for Android N to my Zenfone 2 i will have the benefits of using Vulkan?
4 - Does anyone know if that Galasy S7 that had 135k+ on antutu was using Vulkan? Because my Zenfone 2 is a great phone and only scores 65k, it's scary to thing that a S7 should have more than the double of hardware capacity that my Zenfone has. I thing that should be because of vulkan, but i need to hear it from someone who knows what's talking.
I hope to get answers for this questions. Thank you all.

1) Both Asus need intel to update graphics drivers to implement Vulkan
2) Nope still need drivers
3) This means it's implemented but not compatible with every phone running N version as SoC makers and OEMs need to update the source code
4) Galaxy s7 is superior in any way to zenfone 2 this means gpu and cpu. Vulkan api will start working only on some games if implemented if the devs don't use vulkan api then this means no visual/performance upgrade.

Our GPU is fully compatible, it's up to manufactures to include it other wise it's gonna be really hard for CM Mantainers to include it even partially.

Redmi Note 4 Pros & Cons Read before Purchase

We are very Very Sorry..
Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain that we will never get the sources required for a proper custom ROM on this device, mainly because it is Mediatek.
Waiting for Redmi Note 4 Pro (Snapdragon)...
They will launch Snapdragon version in India due to patent issues with Erricson. So we might get our hands on the source code just like Note 3.

Ya you are right mediatek device is the main issue about this phone. one thing I have also notice camera quality is not much better
The Snapdragon 652 will be a beast on this phone, especially when the ROMs start rolling in.

So it's MediaTek? I have 3 MT devices, none of them have enough space in the user partition. I thought that was the reason why there were slow and unresponsive.
But these look a lot better than what I already have. Can they be rooted, do the standard recoveries show upside-down. CWM is easier to manage that way, but TWRP is difficult.

Mediatek device main problem is regarding enough space and fast access. I hope Redmi note 4 wiil work much better if a user can root this device & create SD partition .

What phone after Jiayu S3 ?

I own my jiayu S3 since a long time. It's simply the best phone I have had so far. I love it, and I even bought another one for my wife. But with the applications updates and time passing, the 16 Gb of memory is simply not enough anymore for my usage.
I would like to find a replacement phone similar to my Jiayu with at least 32 Gb of memory and 4 Gb of ROM. The new phone should be dual sim (I work and live in two countries), compatible with European 4G, provide an extension for a memory card (that doesn't use a sim slot) and be easily rootable (I'm an IT engineer, so this is a must). The price should also be less then 300€ (my Jiayu S3 costed me less than 200€, with accessories and shipment included).
Is there any phone that can match this ? I just can't find any so far. I'm asking here because I suspect I'm not the only one wondering what one can use after a Jiayu S3.

It's a tough one. Been looking too for some upgrade after 2+ years of S3 use but there is always one or two things that you have to sacrifice - NFC, separate mSD slot, or sometimes B20 frequency on 4G network. For me, an upgrade from S3 would be a minimum of 4/64GB and 4000 mAh battery. I was looking for a larger screen also (Mi Max 2 with 6.44" is my favorite, although no NFC) and also some od Redmi Note series or some LeEco 5.7" models. Oh, and there is Lenovo P2 but it's not so much of an upgrade.
I like the idea of discussing next phone. We have something in common: our amazing JYS3 but, I think, also our belief in open source development. Next, we inevitably also focus on some different parameters (money, size, functionality, ...).
Personally, money is not the main obstacle, and, I would like a big 6.5" phone (and if needed at all : a 17" tablet) . Actually: for big screen Android experience I prefer a TV box (and dual boot LE for fun), so I probably do not need a tablet.
So, right now, I have hope for 'Huawei Honor Note 9' or 'Xiaomi Mi Mix 2' but -only- if some minimal, say, Google -style ROM can be built. If not then I would be equally happy with a big size madOS supported Mediatek device with excellent specs and support (just like my beloved JYS3s). Or, ideally: a OnePlus 6+ (6.5" phone).
For MadOS Rom, Superdragon mentioned perhaps getting the Vernee Apollo ...

Vernee Apollo looks OK. I want more than 6" next phone. But that's just my wish.
What do you guys think of the Ulefone T1, is it any good and will it be supported bij MAD or other team?
Umidigi S2 Pro?
I think next week I will be ordering Mi Max 2, after 2.5 years of Jiayu S3. It's still running fine so I will probably keep it as backup (and to test Oreo if it comes in near future , but I decided it's time for a bigger screen and much better battery with QC3, which is one of the principal reasons for upgrade...

Exactly. It's a critical advantage for the (more advanced) users to also have open source ROMs available.

Actually, I do not want that phone anymore. Maybe an Apollo 2 Vernee or a Leeco le Max3 (in the future)
A MTK x30 or a smartphone equal or superior Snapdragon 821
A colleague just told me about the XIAOMI Mi A1. It looks like a very good candidate to replace my Jiayu S3:
- nearly stock android, developed with Google partnership (the first Android One phone from Xiaomi), so it should get frequent updates. Android 8 Oreo planned for the end of the year
- made for the international market, not just for China
- dual sim. However the second SIM slot is also used for a memory card. What a silly trend ! But it has 64 GB of ROM, so this is a bit less of an issue
- 4 GB of RAM
- 5.5 inches 1920x1080, like the Jiayu S3
- snapdragon 625 2Ghz
- gpu Adreno 506
- 3080mah battery
- cheap, less than 240$ (200€)

Why did you change your mind?
Those two phones dont look as good as the Umidigi S2 Pro in my opinion.
And slightly better specs dont care to me, am not going to play heavy games.
Personally I've moved from Mediatek devices, got a Le Max 2 and it's a big step camera wise. Mediatek devices promise a lot but these Chinese companies fail to deliver on the specs. They keep bragging about the image sensor because they know they're not going to optimize the image quality.
Outside of MAD there's not really any development going on for Mediatek devices, and Mediatek seems to have given up on high-performance SoCs (X30 was a big flop), so it'll be the boring octa-core A53s for next year. You can find decent Qualcomm devices for the same price, and you'll get custom roms.

Note 4 and Samsung S5 (trle/klte)

Hey,
I've been following up with the LineageOS ROM. Just as much as Resurrection Remix. However; using a N4 which is (correct me if I'm wrong.) a buffed S5. The chipsets are different! I know that but the majority of the firmware aside from Note functions. Is it possible for these two devices framware to be vise-versa compatible? As in unzipping a klte ROM or trtle rom, and flashing it? Sure there'd be changes to be made but what kind of would need to?
@ripee, @_mone, @Chainfire.
Sounds stupid but I'm interested.
I think the snapdragon variants of both note 4 and s5 have same processor, i.e SD 805.
The exynos variant of note 4 has Exynos 5433 and that of s5 has 5422.
Irrespective of which processor they have, there is a difference in display. S5 has a full hd 1080p display, whereas note 4 has a quad hd 1440p display.
However, by making some changes in the firmware, the snapdragon variants can share roms.

Best ROM's for SM-900T? LineageOS 18.1, or crDroid, or something else??

Hi all! So, I used to flash a lot years ago. I recently just decided to check and see some stuff still available for this phone! I want to flash something desperately on my phone!!
Can people please say what ROM they prefer and why? And what the differences are between the different ROMs available?
I see LineageOS and crDroid. Are there others that are good and availale for the phone?
Which would have better battery life? And faster/more responsive? More feature rich? The least buggy, and most reliable?
Also, what are the ways to backup the phone now?? I've seen full phone backup using TWRP?
What about Titanium?
Any other methods?
Thank you!
