Hey everyone and thanks for taking the time to read this,
So the story goes as so: After doing some research couple months ago about the capability of the Verizon Galaxy S3 to work on T-mobile, i purchased it, and got it to successfully work on T-mobile(texts, calls, wi-fi). The problem is, i just recently upgraded to include a data plan, and i cannot access the internet, despite taking my phone to my cell phone dealer and contacting T-mobile.T-mobile even sent me a guide to do a mastery reset to factory in hopes to solve this problem, only to tell me afterwards that the phone version SCH-I535 is a "verizon locked-software" and i won't be able to set up an APN to work on the T-mobile network. This was all due to the fact that i was not able to set up a APN for T-mobile, and every time i tried to access it through setting, it brought me to a blank black page with the only option of "Reset to Default". After reading other forums and talking with some people, many have suggested i take this issue to XDA to find a solution.
So, here i am.....Does anyone know if it is possible for me to break/root/ or whatever it is called so i can successfully access the t-mobile network on my phone? Preferably an easier guide since i am sort of a newbie at this sort of stuff.
Thanks again for reading.

I have a saved WiFi account here at work with the password saved.... But I don't remember the actual password. When I download the apps that are supposed to pull the wpa file and show me the password it only shows it as all hex example 02b20292bh727272hd78b. Looks like they're all encrypted even my home WiFi and there's no way to view saved WiFi passwords on a galaxy s5? I am rooted... Please help. Thanks
Nothing eh?
Ya theyre encrypted, why would it store passwords unencrytped. Unless you have a tool to decrypt it we cant really give you a magic answer im quite sure.

In Android 4.3 it stored them unencrypted

Then 4.3 storing unencrypted passwords is irrelevant, no?
More to the point, if you do not have access to the password legitimately, you probably shouldn't use it right?
If you should have access, ask tech support / your boss
It's not irrelevant when someone in this thread is asking me why I would expect it to be unencrypted like it's never been done befoee
Of course it's irrelevant, the S5 never had Android 4.3, and you're asking in the S5 forums
My boss is on vacation Or I'd ask him. If anything is irrelevant is you bringing up my boss instead of a work around
Im not going to help you steal WiFi
Never knew getting a password to WiFi I'm already connected to and have permissions to is stealing. But I'm don't responding to someone trying to be my father on a forum. I'll wait for a legitimate response/workaround for 4.4
If you have access already, why do you need the password?
And I'm fairly sure there is more than just your one boss who is 'on vacation' who could give you the password if you were supposed to have it
Far too many people joining this forum to look for ways to circumvent security lately, fingerprints, passwords, WiFi encryption, XDA is not a hackers forum
He's he only one. This isn't a big office. I have another phone I wanted to use and connect. Could I wait 2 weeks? Sure.. But I figured I'd just ask for some help know here so I didn't ha e to wait. I'm not trying to circumvent anything
Look on the back/bottom of the router for the key
If it's changed from default, wait 2 weeks
It's changed. Looks like without 4.3 wpa psk decryption is pretty unlikely
Which is the whole point of encryption, to stop people gaining network access without permission
2 weeks won't kill you, you already have one device connected, not really any reason to have 2 phones connected while at work
I have an unlocked AT&T 1337 Samsung S4 and am using it on the T-Mobile Network. I am fine with it as it is an old phone and such but my biggest issue is i Need to somehow Enable WiFi Tethering. My previous Phone was a S3 from T-mobile and that was no trick to get it rooted and all i wanted within a week of owning it. I haven't had time lately to do what i want with my current phone. (no pitty party but my father just died and i cant be bothered with much) and i need to get tethering working if at all possible. I also am moving Very soon (a couple days more than 2 weeks to another state any I'll be flying although i will need to get tethering before that I need it to get data access on my tablet.)
So No pity party from me, I just ask if anyone knows at least some links to set me on my way without having to use google and try to do it right as i need this phone and cannot make any errors.
Lastly my phone is unlocked (that doesn't matter) because when i try to tether it says "wrong sim network" or something i can post exact if it matters in a reply. I believe it must be rooted unless their is an app i don't know about. I have always gotten great responses here but I have never asked the feed me information question. Sadly this pc is comming down very soon and i only have much time for craigs list (selling 80% of what i own)
I TYIA for links to current informational posts about what i need to do. ill be looking myself too (and have been just hoping what i found is the right information. I was going to follow a guide like this if not this one
http://www.androidblog.gs/how-to-root-att-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337-on-android-4-4-4-kitkat-firmware/
Please tell me if the above link will help me succeed or brink my only phone right now.
I've rooted and installed new roms, even used Odin to clean all the stuff off my S3 but that was a different ballgame, it was a t mobile phone on t mobile and it was a simple flash.
Again TIA
I have the same unlocked phone on the same network. This is what I did to get it to work.
1. Root phone
2. Used titanium backup to freeze the "app" called "TetheringAutomation 1.0.1". I assume there are other apps that could do the same.
Prior to that the tethering process would just crash. The same is true for my wife's Galaxy S5 which is not rooted and cannot tether. I haven't used it much, mind you, but I have noticed that sometimes I have to try to turn on the tethering 2-3 times before it will stay on but then it works fine.
Here is the guide I used to root the phone (you don't have to install the xposed framework if you don't want or need it):

Sorry about your father.
My friend has recently passed away. He owned a Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G531H. The family wants to recover the pictures and contacts from the phone but the phone is password locked, with stock recovery and the download mode is FRP locked and last but not the least wifi and 3g is turned off. Please kindly suggest solutions. Thanks!
Sorry for your friend. My deepest condolences. :'(
I don't know any solution for that. Sorry
If he by some chance had ADB enabled, you could probably find a computer that he authorized and use that. You can probably check by running 'adb devices', pretty sure it will show the device but obviously you wouldn't be able to interface with it. From there on you just need to find a computer he's authorized prior.
Side note: Unfortunately, ADB isn't supported in recovery mode on samsungs, so you can't rip the photos(and/or break password) using that.
To gain internet access you *might* be able to use a OTG ethernet adpater. I've never used one, I don't know if this device supports it, and I don't know if you can just plug it in without any user input. But I think this option is worth looking into. Then you can reset the password from his google account or something
That's all I have for now, hopefully you can them photos
I have a former coworker who is foreign, who has me help him with tech stuff among other things. Today he asked me to fix his sister's tablet, a Galaxy Tab A (sm-t580) which wasn't functioning correctly.
understandably, the tablet had its language set for their native language and due to the issues it was having we could not get the language changed so i could work on the tablet properly. The next best course of action was to reset the tablet. so I did.
now comes the issue: my friend and his family primarily use iOS devices, bought the tablet used and never set up their own google account on the device.
So it is FRP locked and nobody knows the necessary account info.
At first I told him that the tablet was useless now, but after a little digging saw that this was something i might be able to get around and fix for him.
Digging further, all I found was conflicting or missing instructions on how to properly do this........
A boot into recovery mode reveals that the current firmware on the device is T580UEU4CSC1
this means that the device has android 8.1 on it and the information i could gather seems to indicated that FRP bypass is more difficult on android 7 and later, but that is where the info seems to dry up. I couldn't find anything specific on what exactly i need to do to get it working again, or whether specific firmware/files needs to be used on this device.
Would really appreciate any info or direction you could provide on this. Thanks.
It has become super hard to bypass FRP on Samsung devices (Not even Combonation files work anymore), If you can prove that you purchased it you can send it back to Samsung and they can unlock it. You're only other option is buying a Octoplus/Jtag/Riff box and using the FRP unlock option on the PC software.

On some devices yes combo files work but not on ALL devices so maybe on this particular device that works.
