So I just got my new Note 4 32GB European model (N910F). I have a few questions for this wonderful community.
First of all here are my phone's details so I make things easier for you (and me lol).
Model number: SM-N910F
Android version: 4.4.4
Baseband version: N910FXXU1ANJ4
Kernel version: 3.10.0-2796909
Build number: KTU84P.N910FXXU1ANJ4
SE for Android status: Enforcing
Security software version: MDF v1.0 Release 4 / VPN v1.4 Release 2
KNOX version: KNOX 2.2 (0x0)
And now my questions (please answer them in order):
In a few weeks I'm going to install a custom ROM. I want to make sure there is nothing wrong with the device first. Is it possible to install custom ROMs/recoveries on my phone without tripping Knox?
Is it possible to root my current stock ROM (4.4.4) and/or the new Lollipop update WITHOUT tripping Knox?
There is a small update (160mb), should I download it?
Do you guys recommend installing a custom ROM? If so what is the best ROM in terms of stability but also has the S6 looks and features (like the new touchwiz ui and theme store)?
Is there any kernel with dt2w? Or the Note 4's screen doesn't support it maybe?
Do you have any slim and cheap case to recommend? I cant keep my phones without cases.
Is there any problem with installing a tempered glass (problems with s-pen etc.)?
If I have to know anything else about this phone, tell me! I just got this device and I know pretty much nothing about it (of course when it comes to rooting, flashing etc.)! Also point me to helpful guides, tips and general knowledge about the N910F, things every xda and Note 4 user should know before (and after) rooting/flashing a custom ROM! Thanks A LOT in advance everyone! Hopefully I can enjoy this phone at its fullest with your help!

Ok so i dont have an answer to everything so heres what i can help you with. First root with cf auto root then i suggest cyanogenmod which in my opinion is the best rom. Spigen has cheap and durable cases. Dont update anything just root and get cyanogenmod. 12.1 is the latest and its a lollipop rom. Dont update the phone at all until after the rom is installed i cant stress that enough. Use cwm or twrp to get a rom and installing updates. Before you get root and the rom do a factory reset.

Regarding the tempered glass, i have a note 3 but it's installed with the tempered glass and the spen works fine i would asume the note 4 would be the same.
There is a way to install recovery/custom rom/root without tripping knox but it's complicated, there should be guides around here if you are willing to go through with it.
Btw when did you get your phone, was it recent? I'm suprised new note 4s still have kit kat installed on there, i expected new note 4s to have lolipop on there instead.
I've heard about the Spigen cases but I've also head there is a major issue where the case will scratch the bezel around the phone when taking it off, because of this I'm hesitant to buy one for my phone when i get it.
Oh and just a warning, custom roms loose the spen functionality, this is why i always install stock roms, if the feature is important to you stay on stock, but if you are not bothered with loosing spen functionality then by all means install a custom rom.

Hello.
It's the fist time I'm gonna flash a modded Rom cause after a year the phone its staring to do weird things. I'm still at 4.3 Jellybean.
My phone is rooted with stock TouchWiz.
The less wissles and options the better. I don't use the S-pen and would like to have a simple and battery friendly Rom with a good camera app.
Also I'm worry for the sdcard problems i read everywhere and stability.
I guess a Rom with 4.4.4 is better than 4.4.2 but in this so not sure.
What Rom do you recommend?
Thank you!
first you need to choice if you want TW or CM rom...
if TW you need to upgrade bootloader and flash stock KK rom and root and flash custom...
if CM11 no need to upgrade KK and you can flash what you want
for CM12 you need KK bootloader too
Thank you for quick answer.
I read that Cyanogenmod Roms are not optimized and made for Note 3.
Is there a Rom made specifically for N9005 with the features I posted?
1. Go to the Note 3 Android development subforum.
2. Read about the different ROMs.
3. Decide which one you want to try.
4. Flash it.
5. Repeat as necessary.
There are no short cuts. Do the research yourself, only you know if you'll be happy with your choice.
Ok thank you.
Will all the Kitkat based Roms have issues with the Sdcard I read I forums?
I recommend to you the rom which made by Alexander.. And omega rom as a second choice.. Good luck

please, i have this rom
[ROM][N9005] Galaxy S5 Stock ROM - Final v40.0 - Clean, Fast and Stable - [OTA]
have i already in kk bootloader? or not sure? how can i check?
thanks
I'm trying to find Alexander Rom you suggested but i cant find it in the forum. (I'm new with all this about roms).
What is the name of Alexander's Rom?
Well you can use stock ROM, and uninstall all the nonsense apps with any root supported uninstall app, but you still will be forced to have those S related features, S-Scroll, S-Stay and all those nonsense features (which I never have used, ever). Now if you AOSP way then you won't have all those things and you will have a clean ROM but you will miss the lovely S-Pen integration of TouchWiz based ROMs.
So you have to decide according to your preference. I don't believe that AOSP/CM based ROMs are 100% bug free for Note 3, but please correct me if I am wrong. I am an AOSP lover too.
And I also don't believe 4.4.4 has much advantage over 4.4.2 other than some security patches.

Ive been looking at forums for awhile and it seems as though my device is not supported for root or custom ROMs. i had CM on my S2 and liked it. so when i look up the process for the S4, the posts are from 2013 saying that I cant root or install CM without tripping Qfuse and bricking my phone. its mid 2015 and i am wondering if there are CM mods available, or at least root options. there seem to be some, but the link i provide implies that modding the phone might brick it due to qfuse.

There's a keep root method during the upgrade process to 5.0.1, and I'm fairly confident the developers involved with Cyanogen/Cyanogenmod are intentionally ignoring AT&T and Verizon S4's because the bootloaders are locked and uncrackable.
Oh also because they don't feel like or are incapable of (I got my money on the first one) porting it for safestrap use.

It's not possible to port it for Safestrap and have it run correctly and fully featured actually. Since they could only use the stock kernel, we can't set SELinux permissive on Lollipop, which breaks things, and AOSP and TouchWiz kernels are different so you get issues like on the Google Edition ROMs of WiFi issues, no USB, and other incompatibilities.

I forgot about the SELinux issue, but there have been successful AOSP/Google edition ports for the S4.
Not for lollipop yet, but I had a KitKat one for a while.
Only issue was needing to soft reboot after a hard reboot to get WiFi to work.
I'd put up with that for a CM port if the SELinux policies issue can be resolved.

It was still luck that those even booted, and that only worked becasue the GPE S4 kernel shared enough similarities to work. Straight AOSP builds seem not to work as well, and either way I don't think anyone wants to do so if most of the features that make it CM won't even work.
Hi all.
I own the T230 Samsung Tab 7.0 in the UK. I keep reading about how Samsungs software slows this tablet down. Im a little lost on what to do, but can you just put normal android on this to speed it up? I keep hearing about custom roms, but basically I just want to strip the rubbish out of this and speed the thing up.
Can Lollipop be put on this?
My build number is KOT49H.T230XXU0AOD2, if this helps.
Thanks so much......from the Newbie!
Galaxy Tab 4.0 7" Newbie Question
Mostly every variant of the Tab 4 should have L by now, including yours but idk if it's available in your region. We have a user here who made a Samsung firmware thread (@thisusernameisapoorchoice), so look around that thread.

To clean out the preinstalled Samsung junk you'll need to root your phone, which means flashing a recovery module (e.g. TWRP, Clockwork Mod, etc.). Fortunately, this shouldn't interfere with the stock firmware.
Alternatively, I think the development section has a rom that's just debloated version of the stock firmware. One of the most common ways to make a custom rom is to just strip the bloatware from the stock image, and apply updates.
Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) and I am looking for a good Rom.
Since I am new to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Modding I have no idea which Rom fits my expectations:
Android 6.0.1
Samsung Launcher/Theme (like on Note 4 with Android 6)
stable/fast/efficient
minimum of bugs
everything works which is not hardware limited (!S-Pen support!)
I already found out that NFC is often not supported. Thats no problem.
Can someone recommend me a Rom?
They are all posted here .

Im abit confused and hoping someone can help out.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) and have always used the hlte CM12.1 nightly's - Are these the 'official' CM roms ? And the other custom roms in the development forum, are variants of the hlte but with their own themes or features?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...-3/development
Like the user above, I just want a 'stock' CM rom but with the best battery life and as few bugs. I dont even care for the S Pen. Its a minefield, I'm hoping someone could please explain
Also the last nightly was from hlte was on 2016-07-10, does that mean no more updates? If so, how could I apply updated android security patches?
Hi folks,
it's a long time i didn't upgrade my phone to a new ROM, and I'd like to ask suggestions on how to do that.
Here my tech specs:
- i9505 international unbranded Galaxy s4 (rooted)
- TWRP version 2.8.5.0
- WANAMLite Rom Kitkat 4.4.2
- Xposed Framework with wanamlite xposed
- Nova Launcher
I saw there are plenty of new roms, but I'd like to know:
- Lollipop or mashmallow? Any experience?
- I was interested in the resurrection remix 6.0.1, anyone has tried it?
- How do I proceed at best without losing settings and data?
- Backup with TWRP or Titanium?
- Should I Wipe everything or can I simply keep my data?
Sorry if I'm asking the same questions everybody does, was just too much time off the scene
thanx

Believe me, it's better to stay on Wanam Lite, maybe one of the best and Stable roms ever made for the galaxy S4, even though it's running kitkat. Do you still have the link for Wanam lite 3.1? Can't find it anymore. Thanks a lot!
When changing ROMs and/or Android versions it is always recommended to do a full wipe.
Backup your apps with Titanium Backup and your ROM with TWRP.
As to the matter of best ROMs, that is a very subjective matter.
ISF prefers TouchWiz ROMs. I prefer custom ROMs, like CM based or AOSP based.
Check the Resurrection Remix thread for experiences. I find it's the most customizable ROM available so far, but I'm not actually running it right now.
I'd go for Marshmallow just because of a slight performance increase over Lollipop.
If you want even more performance, check out the JDCTeam ROMs (Optimized CM13, AOSP and Optimized Slim6).
Some of the newer ROMs may require an up-to-date bootloader and modem.
First of all thank you guys.
Yeah I'm actually looking for a non touchwiz rom also. I'll check out
In this old post the link doesn't work:

If anyone has a valid link to Wanamlite 3.1 for i9505, ca you please PM me?
Anyone suggesting some other Roms?
