Best way to run large apps/obbs from SD card? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Normally on andriods I would use Xposed and use the sd mod, however on my Note 4, I see that just to get xposed installed it requires a different rom then stock and it's not completely stable. (What I have found from looking on the forums)
So anyways, my question is, for the note 4, what does people use so they are able to use the OBB off of the SD card on their phones? Is there another stable way?
Thanks for the replies!

I have the Note 4 SM-910T. I can't find any solid tutorials or anything to get it on my ROM.

Been using it for a while with no problems. 32 gb internal is not enough and that where this comes in.

New user question

Hello,
Could you please help me for a couple of questions?
- do i need an sd card to root my NC?
- is there a way to install .apk without rooting my NC?
- what is a basic and stable rom to start with? I am using CM7 on my Motorola Milestone

And here I was thinking the Nook Q&A section was pretty obvious...
Please post there. Or better yet, use the SEARCH function.

1. Yes, you need a 64gb card to root
2. yes, but you will need a 64gb card for this too.
3. At this time all roms have to be imaged to a 64gb card to run.
Sorry i was using my phone to post and i thought that i was in Q&A already... and beleive me i went through a lot of pages through Tapatalk but didn't find anything!

He's joking.
All you need is a 2gb micro sdcard or larger and you should be fine.
Their flaming you because you posted a general question in the dev forum. . Lol.

I have no idea what he's talking about. You can use any SD card 2gb or bigger. The ROMs currently available are CM7, honeycomb (based off the SDK), and stock 1.2 rooted. For honeycomb and CM7, you can install it on the eMMC or run it off the SD card.
Here are a few links:
1.2 rooted
SD Card installs (ROMs)
Dual Boot ROMs (eMMC)
NookDevs Wiki - Tutorials and other info.
Between those and this forum, you should be set. Extra bits are Netflix on the Nook, and running Tegra 2 Apps. I'd recommend overclocking if you do any of those though - once you overclock to 1.1ghz then everything is fast as can be.
Honestly guys sorry!
I used Tapatalk and wasnt able to understand where exactly i should have posted!
OK thanks i'll check it out. I was reading last week that you can have a ROM on th SD Card and just reboot through that, and if you dont want that, just take out the sd card and you have the stock ROM. Is that true, or not so much?
Because i live in Europe, i dont want to mess so much with NC, as if anything goes wrong i wont have a store near me to go and get some help!

The Nook will automatically boot from the SD card, so I would just pick up a spare sd card to try out one of the ROMs. If you like it, you could install it on the internal memory, eMMC, or dual boot.
The great thing with the Nook Color is it's almost impossible to brick, and everything I posted is completely reversible. Worst case is you take the SD card and run clockwork recovery to restore it.
Just to get the full experience, I would root stock 1.2 with Manual Nooter (look at the link I posted before), so you get the full Android experience with B&N's mods -- best for reading btw. Also, most of the apps on B&N are paid apps, but, on the market they're free. That's an incentive to root right there.
ok thanks for your time!
Great to be also in the Nook family of users now!
Will try it with my 2gb card first and then will buy a bigger one. Would the class of the card have any material differences on the Nook performance?

[Q] S4 Memory problem, Need help..

First of all, hello to everyone, I've been a big fan of this site since the very start I found it out and it sure helped me alot in my android experiences and adventures. So.. Thank You All, for these great efforts and information you'll are providing in order to help people and make phones more pleasant to use.
'This is the first time I'm posting on XDA bc I need help with something:
I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S 4 (i9505 model). I'm from Netherland btw and also bought my S4 here.
Before my S4 I was using a HTC DHD, which I screwed around alot with, like installing custom ROM's provided here and other stuff. I don't know if some options on Android phones are phone specific or not. But on my DHD i always could move apps from internal memory to my SD Card and otherwise, which i can't on my S4. This is like the last thing I need to do on my S4, bc I got a 16 GB model (9 or so useable) and I got only 3 GB left while I have a Ext. SD Card of 32 GB (30 useable) and only used 1,5 GB of it.
'This feels like having a beautifull hot girlfriend, but not being able to do anything nice with it, if you know what I mean..
I don't know where, but I once read it's possible to merge internal and external to 1 storage, like combining 2 partitions to 1 or making a RAID partition out of 2 different storages on phones. Is there anyone who can help me exactly with what I need please?
Thanks in advance.

The new software update thats allready rolling out will allow apps 2 sd card feature, it has arrived to some countries already maybe you should check your OTA or kies update. Or else you can flash it yourself manually .

Update to XXUBMEA. It provides App2sd support but I think you can only move the app, not its data.

Lolipop S5 Benchmarks / GL to SD working? Worth it loosing XPOSED?

I was hoping to stay on 4.4.4. Can anyone on Lollipop comment on the smoothness of the device after the upgrade. I am using the debloated Eclipse rom on 4.4.4 Has anyone done a benchmark before and after? Is there a big difference when you upgraded from 4.4.4 in application switching?
I have over 200 games installed using "GL to SD" that app works flawlessly for me. It is just a dream come true with a Samsung 64 gig microSd card. I am afraid a lot of the games wont be supported and I will run into issues. I am especially afraid GL to SD won't work at all, as there is no mention of support from the author. Not to mention loosing access to XPOSED framework probably permanently.
I am probably going to stick with a 4.4.4 Rom for awhile. It doesn't seem like a huge update to me. Can anyone comment on that. Does the Lollipop upgrade make a big difference for you?
Personally, I think the UI looks a lot better, Speed is a little better than KK.
Not sure about GL to SD though sorry.
Now the big thing with XPOSED is do you use it for simple things or full blown customization, there is root available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...l/how-to-update-to-g900vvru1boa8-5-0-t3020546
so if XPOSED does get updated ( he barely managed to get XPOSED to work on his nexus) then you will get the stuff you used XPOSED for back.
Sorry I'm not much help.

Just ran Quadrant v2.1.1
Scored 30,000
This one I have run on Kit Kat and Lollipop rooted scored significantly higher than my old scores.
GL to SD was updated does not mention in Playstore but was updated to Lollipop
Thanks very much for the info appreciate it. I did notice GL to SD was updated but didn't mention Lollipop in the store notes. However when you load the app it does say Lollipop support. That app is great for moving large games to the SD card. It has been working flawlessly no problems.
Xposed I use for the ROM tweaks. Like Wanam Xposed for General tweaking. "Gesture Navigation" is great to build in navigation gestures that only are active on the notification or any other screen.
Thanks for the upgrade information I appreciate it.
Dude you can always just use titanium backup to move to sd... honestly I usually use the native app2sd, never had a problem.

[Q] i9505 CM12 storage problem

Hi all,
Actually this is a 2 part question.
I just updated my i9505 to CM12 lollipop.
1. This is a minor problem out of the 2. The internal storage bar shows a wrong proportion. As you can see, I have 1.81GB available but it's taking up half the meter bar for some reason.
2. From the photos you can see I have 13.31GB available on my external SD card, yet when I tried to move some apps from internal storage to SD, lollipop is giving me an error saying "Couldn't move app. Not enough storage space." Which is obviously not true. I also tried using Link2SD but it gave me an message saying "INSTALL_FAILED_CONTAINER_ERROR".
If anyone could give me some advice on how to fix the mentioned problems I will be very grateful.
Thank you in advance,
Nelson

Hello All,
I am a long time user of custom ROMs for my devices, as I'm sure most here are. I have had my Shield tablet (wifi only 16gb version) since January, and in that time I have tried many ROMs. The only one that has allowed app to be installed onto the SD was the rooted stock Lollipop. I have tried, PAC (KK and LP beta), CM12, and ASOP 5.0. All fresh installs of these ROMs have lead to the infamous 'Couldn't Move app. Not enough Storage Space.'.... Therefore, I am waiting patiently for a solid ROM that allows App2SD. Keep up the good work!

Use SD as internal storage

Hello All
A friend is visiting me and he wants to use the SD as internal storage on his SM J500F phone.
I only found one article on XDA. Can someone confirm if this is a working solution?
Thanks
tell him not to do it, it will slow his phone down and decrease perfomance

Yes, a lot of apps will be crashing, because most of apps nowdays are not meant to be stored on sd card, and phone storage will never be same as sd card storage, that is why the perfomance will go down.
Well in my opinion is one of the best options to be made to a j5 as it does not have enough storage to support the apps of today so my recommendation would be to put internal sd and leave you the necessary zip to do it
I think better option is to move to to SD card, by doing this i have 2.5 gb available, even though i have so many apps, but still, he can give adoptable storage a try and decide for himself

There is a method for Root users via Root Essentials or work around stock settings. I was able to get Adopted internal storage on stock 6.0.1, No luck on CM13 as the kernel doesent allow it.
@kiwigi I think that better is a debloated Rom and native app2sd. You should test and pick what you find better for you. I personally avoid as much as I can craps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc. which are always the great responsible of out of memory and so.

Thanks. Have you got a suggestion for a debloated tomorrow? Or is there an option of rooting then debloated ourselves?
Or root and move apps to SD?

Actually, googling things like debloated AOSP, debloated Lineage bring us very interesting things. We know that all stock roms need root and our work to recover valuable space. I like the CM/AOSP branded roms. There are lot of threads here in XDA about customize and debloat and apps to do such and that works with SD managing as well ?
Hopefully now there are plenty J5 roms for you to taste and choose.?
I want to use sd card as internal storage, and use it to download large files from playstore, but could not find solution please help.
