Is this possible? Or will it ever be?

As far as I am aware no. It will not be possible. The necessary code is private and supposedly integrated into TW so well it can't be ported. I've been looking into this for quite some time due to me owning the LED Samsung case which uses the same code, just an updated version of it.

[Q] Honeycomb on Hero?

can anybody port the 3.0 honeycomb version to our beloved Hero?
they did it to the G1/Magic, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RKEHfOwnSI&feature=player_embedded
any hope??
If there is a port to G1/Magic I guess that is possible a port to Hero..

yea, let us know
it's certainly buildable for the hero - but most hardware will be broken I would imagine.
Sitting here, playing with an ugly port of the sdk, the first images, most just to remove my pin code so I can get into the system
yes elelinux!
do you think when the sources get released you would have much chance of building a full (or near full) working honeycomb rom?

I think it's possible, but it will not be easy. Especially because Honeycomb is made for tablets... and not for our phones.
If it's built from SDK I bet that almost none of the hardware is working...

That is correct, but strangely all the backlighting of the buttons etc worked out of the box, buttons it is easy to fix if you want.
Just a little test for fun nothing else, also saw that there was support for mdpi so theoretically it could be working on Hero with some manual intervention.
Another thing to, boot up without problems

Yes but hardly anything is working! Even the Nexus one has no audio, wifi, bluetooth, calls!
Yes, it is foolish to ask for a ROM that's meant to run on tablets to be made for phones. But I never have never said and never will say no to a new ROM...
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
Yes it's going to run like ass and our screens won't do any good either.
But... as always, I'm eager to see what crazy stuff the ROM-people come up with.
but the sdk version includes some feature of switching from tablet to mobile mode by simply changing resolution... they won't have included it if it wasn't meant to be run on mobiles, and in 3.1, mobile (2.x) and tablet (3.0) development lines shall be joined (says wikipedia lol). moreover, lots of people out here said it would be impossible to run 2.2 and 2.3 on hero, and right now i'm looking at my rooted android 2.3 hero which is incredibly smooth and stable (way better than with stock os). so why shouldn't it be possible? ele just said even backlight of the buttons worked out of the box, which was not case in 2.x. i'm still believing in our developers (although i can't code well enough to support them ) and i'm sure they'll do some magic
greets, Summoner
Do you really use wikipedia for truths? Anyone can add to Wiki?!
no i don't... i just think it sounds possible... otherwise, there would be two future development lines which the consequence would be that there were VERY different features depending where more / the better devs work on lol^^
i didn't claim it was the absolute truth, otherwise i wouldn't have explicitly said it came from wiki ...

DualBoot Rom Support?

I know I am ahead of myself, but once we are able to dish out root and Roms on this phone, would it be really difficult to setup a dual boot environment, like they do with the nexus 6? This would be an awesome thing to have come up later down the road.
It would be great because I could be running stock whenever I wanted to use moto assist and just switch over to AOKP when I want to customize the junk out of it. Haha
You would have to ask Tassadar. He does amazing work. I don't think it will come to the Pure, but you never know!
Well, since this is a completely unlocked phone, can't you just take the source code from the nexus 6's and change the hardware portion of that code? Or am I just really showing my ignorance right now? Haha

No, much of mulitirom is device specific. In addition, multirom is not currently 64bit compatible. The kexec-tools that multirom uses would need a lot of work to be compatible with an arm64 device.

Pretty much what Hashbang said. I don't know the mechanics behind it but I know that it is device specific. That's why it is only supported for a few devices. Maybe Tassadar will buy the Pure or will be willing to help us. We shall see!

Oh, i didn't know that. Thanks for explaining that to me. Since it's a long shot right now, I won't bring it up anymore. By the way, thanks for the speedy TWRP/root updates!! When my phone comes in, that will be the first thing I will do. I can't wait to see what other awesome developer work you guys can do with this phone!! Keep up the awesome work!!

When will we see Cyanogenmod ?

So when do you guys think samsung will decide to release the code for the exynos and we can get more ROMS ?
Are you excited or want cyanogenmod ?

Not remotely interested in CM on this device. If I wanted it I'd buy a Nexus or OpO.

I was thinking king about this too. I am a fan of AOSP Roms, but the camera quality is always neutered so badly on samsung phones, it's not worth it. Not to mention other stuff like finger print scanner and the edge stuff. We have root and a theme engine as well as exposed, it's pretty good.
The only phone that I used CM on that was worth it from Samsung was the note 4 because somebody made a camera nightshot fix, the pic quality was indistinguishable from TW, but that was an exception.

Is the OP2 not compatible with Marshmellow?

I mean, whats the hold up OP?
OP2 certainly is compatible with Marshmallow , you can already see many MM based ROMs :what::what:

How can a flagship can be compatible with only 1 version of Android?
There's already HydroOS 6 for testing out there

But I guess you're not a newbie to android. Anyway. It's compatible. OnePlus said the release will be in Q1. So it should be there before March.
I don't know what takes them so long. Their OS is almost all stock android except for few customisations.

drivers, optimizations, bug testing, security, enhancements, adding skins also Google certification!
Yeah exactly. OOS is near stock. Moto g3 is running MM but we're still waiting :/ and should probably wait till the last day of the Q1. Or probably they'll miss even that date and come up with an apology letter like they always do :/

That's a good answer! Xda is for everyone, not just developers out there! If there are no common people, then to whom the developers develop?,!

I am pretty sure drivers are written usually by the hardware makers, so that'd be Qualcomm for the SoC or whoever made the fingerprint sensor, camera, other sensors etc. Skins - I ain't seen much skinning by OPO except for changing the dark mode and colour of stuff when in dark mode. Security - this is why they need to release latest android, because google is fixing 100's of issues.
Anyway I am shocked that even the slow manufacturers like LG have upped their game and have 6.0 and Samsung has leaked theirs too. I usually wouldn't care but custom ROMs not that attractive without Fingerprint sensor and Laser AF.

Will the s8 get lineageOS or Resurrection remix rom?

Ok i know that there's on the forum an uncompleted versions of both roms, but i saw that on resurrection remix official site that there's a folder for the s8 so that it should be supported and its also already supported by the s9, so any chance we'll get one of those or not?

Short answer: maybe
Long answer: nobody is publicly working on it but that might change.

I know 0 about coding, but if there's already a s9 version wouldn't that easy to make it also for s8 i think both works similarly (as i said i dont know what i'm actually saying), am i completely wrong?

Sadly, S8 & S9 have different chipset so definitely they will have different device tree-coding architectures as well.
so probably we'll never get that for our s8 if we didn't after 1.5 year, and i still don't understand why there's a folder on the official site and why i read in some forums that it was released officially
