Hello everyone,
I'm dealing with overheat issues on my note 4 exynos model. I bought it November of 2014. Everything was fine ultil lollipop came out. I was completely stock and after lollipop I had a huge drop on my performance. So I rooted my phone tried different roms and kernels. I didn't find a solution so I went back to stock kit kat where everything was fine. After 2 months I got the update to lollipop again performance was normal but since then I'm facing overheating even with minimum usage. My cpu temp i's from 38- 70 without even gaming. Could be a defective phone or am I doing something wrong? Anyone else facing these issues?
For your information I did wipe catche dlavik catche. Restore to factory settings and I'm not using an sd card.
Should I go to a Samsung service center? I don't have warranty now, but I've heard people saying that they don't always check it if phone seems completely stock.
Thank you in advance.

Hey guys, so i flashed cm12 official on my phone 3 times by now and always when i used my screen my phone got really hot. So i went back to stock 4.4.2. im having a d802 from tmobile germany. And i think when i flashed cm11 earlier i had the same issues. I also tried setting down the cpu clock frequency to 1500mhz which also didnt help. Also battery life was worse than stock on both cm11 and 12. So do your phones also get hotter on cm12? Does anyone know if there is a solution? Id really love to use cm12 but im afraid of destroying my phone bc of overheating. Also i think the battery life is better tlon stock. Not to mention the camera, but i prefer cm12 though
Hello everybody,
I got my G2 some months back, and in almost a week i installed a custom ROM, cm exactly. I can't remember exactly, but i am fairly possitive that it was overheating since i bought it.
By overheating i mean 65-70something C for running every game, even when watching videos on youtube.
I have changed a good amount of rom, have bricked it once or twice, but now i am running the 05/05 nightly of BlissRom. It is running very smoothly, with no performance issues, but it is overheating like crazy on what i told you about. I don't know if it is standard for that phone. And when i am charging it is around 60 C. I use cputemp to tell the temp.
If i have to return it, will they check if it is rooted and not repair it? If i return to stock via LG Flash tool will they still be able to tell?
Thanks and sorry for the messed up post.
Hi,
My phone is experiencing major overbearing to the point where it's almost untouchable. Up to 75° celsius in the cpu-z. As you can see in the battery screenshot, the battery drain is huge as well. The device has an unlocked bootloader but I haven't rooted it, changed roms, kernels or anything like that since lollipop came out. The device is shy of two years old and it's always worked fine.
It used to get hot on heavy usage just like other phones but now it's getting a little out of hand.
I've checked app usage but it's nothing special and I didn't find any broken apps.
Is anybody else experiencing those temperatures and is there a way to check processor usage in more detail? Maybe with a ADB or an app.
Just got up to 94°
Happening to me, too, on Nexus 5 5.1.1 all stock, no root.
Maybe a factory reset or reflashing factory images will help? I have no idea if it will, but it doesn't hurt to try.
Recently started overheating
My Nexus 4 started over heating on Friday for no apparent reason and is drained in a few hours, been fine for 2 years and can usually get 18-20hrs after a continuous overnight charge.
Something is using the CPU but nothing untoward when reviewing Battery usage or Apps usage.
How do you log a problem with Google as I suspect it's a problem post 5.1.1
I've had to do a factory reset but is all good now. Not happy I had to factory reset but at least it's working now.
I have the same issue. 5.1.1 stock, no root. Did the FR twice and still the same. Very few apps installed. Does anybody use the tewaked MiFit App? It's the only non Play Store App, I use.... ?
Most probably a hardware defect. Google exchanged my device and now everything is fine again..
Hi all,
So I recently bought a new genuine note 4 Battery off of Amazon (bargain at £12!) and I'm just wondering about what's the best way to start using it?
The reason I ask is currently i'm currently running stock 4.4.4 BTU (before I was running 5.01. BTU) and I have the issue with the battery either going from 15% to 0% in minutes or sometimes it just turns off at 10% (like literally the phone just dies)
I've tried everything from a restore, new firmware, old firmware and event reset the battery status via the service menu. I'm just worried that i'll insert this new battery and may have the same issues, perhaps I'm looking into things too much?
Or should I give one of the new 5.1.1 roms a go?
Thanks.

ive only had that battery issue when i was using an old iphone 4s, i think a new battery should behave like a new battery and not have magic disappearing charge %
Yeah, I think it might just be the battery. Give the 5.1.1 roms a go. I installed one on my Z2 and it was better battery wise. I am still waiting for the update on my Note 4 G variant, I hope it will also make things better.
I don't know if this is the right place to post this.
Summer 2017, I have bought a refurbished Note 4 SM-N910F from a local dealer for €300. I immediately rooted it with TWRP as recovery.
I didn't knew much about tweaking back then but I came across apps like Greenify, L Speed and HEBF Optimizer.
However, few weeks later I managed to soft-brick it.
I brought it back to life with a stock rom found somewhere on this site.
Months later I screwed up by bricking the damn thing again, I installed Nameless rom but it had terrible heating issues, even after a week.
I got back to stock again a few times with Emotion kernel installed.
Current situation:
I am now on stock rooted MM with stock kernel.
I have issues with my phone while gaming. It literally throttles the CPU speed down to 1190 MHz in less than 10 minutes while it doesn't get even warm, literally no sign of high CPU speeds at all.
Now I'm on Xposed (Wanam's build) and installed DVFS disabler. The problem is gone.
But now my phone gets warm even while web browsing, and even with the same games where it didn't heat up before
Please help guys I'm sure you know more than I do.
I just want to play games without heat and thermal throttling just like before...
