First article for me and plz mind my english
First of all i bought Gn2 every thing about it is great
The main problem for me is the screen dimensions its narrrow to use it in horizantal position (Landscape view) there is less screen rows in the screen which is not comfortable (for me) .
I believe the main idea of a phablet is to be a phone and feel like tablet but the width of this screen bother me while reading and i love reading in my GN1 some ppl mention its goofy look coz but it practical.
Gn2 is out of phablet zone it look like normal phone
Cheers

I think Sammy changed the dimensions and looks to attract more potential buyers. They are creating a new line that started with the S3 and will be used on all coming new devices. I personaly like it as improves usability, the Note 1 (wich i also had) felt a lot bigger in my hands han the Note 2 does.
So for me overall i like the new design :good:
This was a problem for me as well, especially when using the browser. I set it to fullscreen with quick controls so that it uses the entire screen estate to display the webpage. It's pretty much fine for me, now.
The 16:9 ratio is magnificent for videos, though
I had the same feelings towards this, but after using the phone, with it's speed and extra functions, it's now just a minor niggle, as the pros out weigh the cons.

I agree, the note 1 was a great device but its width made it look weird sometimes and was not as pocketable as the note 2. I personally prefer the new design and form factor much better than the note 1, I don't feel weird when I take it out in public

I gave my Note 1 to ny sister and when I compare it to my Note 2, the reduced width definitely makes the phone feel better in hands.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I have my Note 2 (grey) since 5 days and really love it. I agree that the extra width made the Note 1 somehow special. Thats why we called it a phablet. The Note 2 is "just" a big smartphone. But I never used the Note 1 in landscape except for watching videos, so I do not really miss the missing 80 pixels. On the other hand, small letters are much better readable on the Note 2, so I could just zoom out a little more and see as much on the Note 2 as I could on the Note 1.
The pros of the Note 2 overweigh the cons and I hope that Samsung does not switch to pentile again for the Note 3.

I had exact same feeling as you when u first got my note 2....I thought the dimension made the screen looked smaller than the note 1...but I'm used to it now...plus, the brightness and colour on note 2 is much better than note 1 make up for the different dimension...oh..also...note 2s new dimension is so much easier to hold hands

I am lurking in Note 2 forum only for this particular reason. I was fussy with 0.2" screen upgrade when S2 LTE was released and my intl S2 looked small compared to it.

The feeling of a Compromise is always there when first Switching from the original to the Note II.The reason that We went to the the Note and not to another device in the first place was because of its sheer size.
But the advantages of the Note II over the old Note are so overwhelming that marginaly narrower profile turns out to be an advantage in itself.

Mmmh, talking about screen ratio makes me thinking about some game compatibility.
Indeed, I have been highly frustrated that some games (I bought with my GS1) are not compatible with the galaxy note 1.
I was thinking it was because of the screen size, but I am thinking now that the screen ratio is more probably the cause !
Would it be possible that some of you check if those games are compatible with your GN2 ?
the sims 3
Plants vs Zombies
Thank you very much

Coming from a note 2 the s4
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
S4 users will say the S4, Note 2 users will say the Note 2 - there's a massive debate going on about it in the Note 2 forum..
I had a note 2, and had to change it because I was sold it as a 4G phone but it wasn't, and they agreed after a lot of argument to swap it, and the only available phone which was similar in specs was the S4.
I haven't looked back, however I did like the big screen for watching movies!
Aside from that, I can't flaw the S4!! Really love it
The Note 2 camera is a little faster at taking images (action shots of my little boy running would be literally blur free) whereas the S4 is still a bit blurry if he's moving (but amazing if he's still!!), however I'm sure that will be corrected as the software is updated!
It's really your choice, size and S Pen - go for a note 2, if they're not that important, S4 all the way
Depends on your needs really. The note will have a significantly bigger battery and bigger screen, the s4 will give a smaller but better screen and more than enough battery to get you through the day.
I've come from a note 2 to the s4 as I found the note 2 a bit too big at times, but I love the s4.
I'd say go check both out in a store so you can decide what's best for you:thumbup:

Same with me really, note was a good phone and the battery life was epic in days of huge screens etc....but with a case on that offered the protection I needed, it was just too big.
The s3 was a little too small so the s4 was the middle ground with the 5" screen. I was tempted by the Xperia Z but their skin over android I don't like.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk (how ironic is that eh)
S4 for sure now, I'm not anti Note though because if you'd said Note3 I'd have voted Note.
i was torn with this decision,
i chose the S4 because the .5" inch+ form factor is a bit hard to use with one hand but i tested the S4 (though not as best for 1 hand as others) but still it works out pretty decent for 1 hand operations, also faster processor.
Okay. everything depends on what you use it for. To put things in perspective - I own a Note II, won't switch for anything smaller as I'd miss out on the screen real estate + the amazing battery life like none other. S Pen is an added bonus for me, although I love it - it isn't really a dealbreaker as the former two for me. So what's "better" is highly subjective.
As for screen, I've played with an S4, and the only difference "I" (emphasis on the I, since it's my view) see with the screen is marginally sharper screen while browsing. I find N2 better for watching movies etc. since it has more screen real estate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252896 read the thread to know the perspective of N2 users and make your mind up, won't go wrong either way
S4 for sure.. it has much much much more powerful processor, gpu and ddr3 ram and stunning full hd display. 13MP camera and it has gorilla glass 3. If you need a stylus badly then go with Note 2 otherwise S4 is a beast in every way. You should check out the full hd display first before you decide.
Or you just use something else for a stylus, like... The eraser end of a pencil. Or whatever is handy. Since it has the same high sensitivity that the 920 has.

S4!
have Note 2 and have tested S4. will sell Note 2 tomorrow and get S4
The s4 ist not full hd. It has only 2 subpixel and therefore the resolution is only 2/3 of full hd. The advantage is the size and GPU

I'm also debating with myself if I should change my current Note 2 to a S4.
Pros for changing :
Better screen resolution
Better processor theoretically but it certainly seems similar to that of a Note 2 practically. In fact, Note 2 doesn't suffer from all the stuttering.
Easier one hand operation
Cons for changing:
Bigger screen
Bigger battery
S-pen (I really only use the S-pen screen capture function mostly though)
All of the above at a cost / top up price of $300 to move from a Note 2 to a S4.
This doesn't seem like a logical decision......
Coming from another phone: S4
Coming from Note 2: depends on your money
I've just ditched my SGN2 for the S4 and won't look back. I've got big hands but the size of it was getting on my nerves and I just didn't have that feeling that wanted to get it out all the time. Loving the S4 :cyclops:
Kevin: spen really isn't an issue as described above.
Stuttering is also basically gone since last update plus setting animations to 0.5 for me.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
At this point? The GS4 is the way to go, why?
-Newer CPU/GPU, A15 Cortex
-HD1080P 440PPI display, its STUNNING!!
-Newer and more Sensors
-Better one handed use
-4.2.2 out-the-box
-IR Blaster
-Newer and far better Camera
The Note2 is a great device, don't get me wrong but if you're getting a new phone now let it be a new gen based phone, it will be great for the next 2years.
Hi guys im considering selling my note 2 for the s4 because it's started to become very uncomfortable to use and cary when im at work other than that im loving my note 2 and im scared when I switch to the s4 it's not gone be as good of a phone as I would expect, like right now what's dragging me on the side of the s4 is for example the 1080p screen but maybe it's not that big of a difference, then of course the size but than it could be to small compared to the note 2, the speed of the s600 chip but than again it could be not a big speed bump compared to the note2, so pleas share your thoughts with me if you already switched to the s4 or have both devices (if there is already a thread like this would be nice to send me the link)

I had before another phablet, so I think my experience could interest you...In my opinion, the 5" screen of the Galaxy S4 is really amazing and the high pixel density (full HD on 5") is one of the best seen on smartphones nowadays. The screen has also hoover options with just fingers, so no need for pen to perform actions with it. If you really want to have a smartphone with most of the Note 2 features, I think the GS4 is a perfect choice. :good:
I used to have a note 2 then got an s3 because it was so big.. then now an S4... the only thing youll miss is the stylus... but if you dont really use it much... the S4 is better. Speed to me is the same when scrolling and opening apps... havent really gamed on my phones lately... Im sure youll be happy qith the S4.
Definitely go ahead and u will not regret ur decision s4 is much better than n2

If size is the major deciding factor then get the S4.
But you will miss the battery life of the Note2 and the large screen and stylus.
You wont loose for speed, camera and screen quality. The S4 is remarkably improved in those areas.
The default UI is still laggy compared tl the Note 2 and there are some bugs to be worked out for the overall performance of the S4... but the lasy few updates have steadily improved them.
Bloat is horrible on the S4 compared to Note2 ... but you can freeze those apps using the application manager.
Overall tho the gains are worth it especially the form factor.

Hi folks,
I currently own a Google Nexus 10, which I love to death, but a few things are starting to annoy me:
1. Battery doesn't last too long with screen on*, and loses charge on standby.
2. Takes forever to charge to 100% even with Pogo cable.
3. Slower than my Note 2 phone.
4. Gets hot to the touch in a certain corner (where the GPU is) while playing RR3*
I run a custom ROM (Omni), but I doubt this is the reason, as I've used CM11, PacROM, and the problems persist.
So, I'm strongly considering the Note Pro 12.2 WiFi to replace it in the future.
What do owners of Nexus 10 think of the upgrade? Was it worth it, considering it's a rather expensive device?
* - then again, I'm a RR3 addict, which chews through battery like candy.
I still have my N10, gave it to my dad to replace his aging Toshiba Thrive. The 12.2 (SM-P900) is definitely faster. Screen is just as sharp. Much much better battery life, and faster charging. The N10 is incredibly light in comparison though. The Samsung keyboard is a joy to use. Multi window and floating windows are nice as well. For my particular usage, it was a great upgrade.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
Love my Note 12.2 and the N10 now feels like a toy. Can't imagine going back... N10 just sold on ebay today!
Also worth noting is that the 12.2 will still charge, albeit slowly, while playing intensive games [emoji106]

Hi all!
Hi all!
I'm a second time convert to the Android world, I went from the iPhone 3GS(JB) > iPhone 4(JB) > HTC Sensation(Mike's Rom) > iPhone 5(JB), now I'm looking at converting to Android once again as I hear Android KitKat 4.4 and the Galaxy Note 4(although not being a huge step up from the Galaxy Note 3 or S5) is something to be in awe of.
So my question to the weird and wonderful community is what the bloody hell do I need to know, own, download, research, subscribe to? What's changed in the last few years, how has Google and Samsung advanced since the Sensation and the corresponding OS versions of that time?
Any information whether it be useful or not is helpful!

My phone is auto calling 911 when i reboot or soft reboot, but it shows on screen as 'unknown'. One of my apps is triggering a 911 call and masking it as "unknown". Even if i reboot in airplane mode the moment i take airplane mode of it makes the call again, and i have to rush to end it before 911 dispatch calls me back. So can anyone help me with trying to monitor which apk is responsible for triggering the call?
It only does it once after a reboot, and won't do it again till the next reboot(or soft reboot). I attached my phone info. I am rooted and i recently installed Xposed Installer, the framework and some modules, see attached photos for a list of the most recen downloaded apps.
Also, i am currently running a scan for any malware etc via Lookout. I have OS Monitor but can't really understand what it's showing me. Please help, i was able to soft boot earlier with no problem, now my phone auto calls.

I too am a second time converter. I left iphone 3 to Samsung Galaxy S, absolutely hated the phone, and moved back to Iphone 4, then 5, now preordered the note 4. I felt most of the problem was due to android hardware and the roms not being built effectively. Samsung I think botched their first galaxy S model with GPS problems and memory problems. The store on top of that was no where near where it is today. At that time, I would compare it to the WindowsApp Store of today. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to pick it up and use it without too much issue. Having a rough time waiting for the ship date!!!
