Anyone know of a way to make the Note 4 go into "one handed mode" when I launch a specific app?

[Q] Is there any way to disable Recommended Shortcuts in notifications?

Does anybody know how to disable Recommended Shortcuts in the notifications shade? It appears every time I plug in the headphones. I remember that I had to freeze an apk on my Sgs3 to disable it on early firmwares. Later there was an option in the clock settings to turn it off. For the life of me, I can't find that option anywhere on the sgs4...

I've noticed that if you stop the Page Buddy service before plugging in headphones, it no longer appears. That said there's no option for Page Buddy like there was in the Note 2, or at least not in the same place it was on there.

Yes exactly, I have it disabled on my note 2 (haven't yet managed to sell it on).
I wonder what does this page buddy do on a SGS4?

From the description it's supposed to provide contextual pages.
I disabled the app and the notification went away. I'm leaving it disabled for now to see if it affects anything else I use.
Also there is an option for "Show notifications" for the Page Buddy service Application page. I just unchecked that, leaving the application enabled and the notification is gone now.
I wonder: What is "recommended shortcuts (earphones)" and where can I configure it? I like the idea, yet I'd like to configure it.
But I can't seem to find a setting or app. Is it really connected to a "Page buddy" app? I have no such app on my SGS4.

Launch Daydream with a Shortcut

Has anyone figured out a way to launch Daydream using NFC launcher, either directly or using Tasker or any other shortcut app?
I am using a wireless charging solution and would love to launch Daydream using NFC as I put the phone on the charger, but do not want to have daydream on all the time when it is plugged in to a wired charger.
I tried Daydream Launcher in the app store but it does not work on the S4.
Thanks.
Reviving an older post I know but....I'd also like to see this possible rather than having to go through the Settings>Display>Daydream rigmarole
I also would like to know if there is a quick or even automatic way to start daydream rather than lock screen.
Yes, daydream mode is a nice feature of Samsung, but very cumbersome to activate.
I'd like to see quick way to activate too.
Hummmm that gives me an idea, maybe a custom shortcut maker might help. Will give it a go..
Edit, I used quick shortcut maker and made a shortcut easy.
In quick shortcut maker you can do a search, so I just typed "day" and daydream showed up on the list all on its alone I hope this is what your all looking for.

Thanks ranger4740. :good: A shortcut sure does help.
I moved from a Galaxy Nexus to the Galaxy S4. The pogo-pin desktop dock was one of my favorite things about the GN. With Daydream, it made it into a perfect clock. So one of the first things I did when I got the GS4 was to figure out how to get as close as possible to what the GN was like in the dock.
The app Daydream Launcher launches Daydream and I was able to set up an NFC task for it using NFC Task Launcher. I also installed a clock replacement called Clock Plus that has more features than the stock clock app, such as allowing an adjustable brightness range for night mode that allows for extreme dimness--which I prefer.
I place my phone into a little plastic stand in landscape mode on my nightstand and was having problems getting Daydream to go into landscape, so I use an app called Rotate to make sure I have landscape Daydream mode when I plug in my phone and set it in the stand.
So now, I plug in my phone, unlock it, and touch an NFC tag to get where I was with my old GN and the pogo dock. Not quite as elegant, but it works fairly well.
The Secure Settings Tasker plugin allows you to toggle daydream too.
The best I was able to do with Secure Settings was go directly to the Daydream Settings page, but not launch Daydream directly, which was exactly what Quick Shortcut Maker did. This thread is about the GS4, so it shouldn't be Touchwiz that's the problem. Am I missing something?
I know there's a problem with Touchwiz messing up the simple way other versions of Android get to Daydream. Daydream Launcher is listed as incompatible with the GS4 and would not let me download it. Daydream Launcher Pro force closed. The only other daydream launching app I found let me download it and then gave me a message saying my device was not supported.
I tried using a touch-recording macro that could possibly be used in a Tasker task, but the stop button was hidden by Daydream's fullscreen window, so it wasn't useful.
I've even been looking for Xposed Framework mods to make a direct path and I couldn't find anything.
Just found this thread because I wanted to do the same
Found a solution:
Tasker + Secure Settings (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intangibleobject.securesettings.plugin&hl=de)
--> Install Secure Settings, Enbale System+, Set DayDream to "always", Set a Task in Tasker if Power + Wireless --> SecureSettings Toggle DayDream
So it will be on if you wireless charge and if you don't charge wirless the DayDream gets deactivated.

And I just found your post because I want to do the same! I have DayDream set to activate while charging or docked on my Nexus 6. The problem is that when the phone is fully charged, the current stops on my wireless charger and so does DayDream. Does your Tasker task fix that or does the Toggle keep it active until you manually toggle it off?
Puh.. Good question.
I don't use it anymore because my Nexus 5 are getting extremly hot if I do this...
So I can't remember how it was if the battery was full charged... But I think it worked all the time.

Thanks Chris, I guess all I can do is try it. Ideally I'd like it to activate for my wireless charger at home, but not for my wired chargers at home and in my car. If just that part works, it will be worth it.
Yeah with Tasker this should work of you have Bluetooth in your car. Tasker can than check if in car.

I think, you just need to download a third party app to get what you want.
I havent found a single third party app that would do it yet.
Stallion, do u have any links showing how to do it? Will it require root? Im looking for a non-root method for the time being

You need root to use xposed. Not sure of any non root methods, pretty sure you can't without root.

To open "Recent apps" you have to press and hold the Home button.
The alternative way is install the 'Android Missing Shortcuts' app and select 'Recent Apps' in the main screen.

Recent Apps issue + Headphone Notification options question

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can advise me on the below
Problem 1
Got my Note 4 on the 17th, I’ve come from a Note 3, starting to get used to the using left button to bring up recent apps however a function that I used regularly is no longer there.
On my Note 3 I could hold down the home button to bring up my recent apps, and if you long press on any of the recent apps it would show the option “show app info” which would then take you to the menu to manage that application, (the screen where you can Force Stop the app, Disable it, Clear data and Clear Cache)
I can no longer do this on my note 4, when I open recent apps menu and long press the application it just put’s the app into a pop up window, no such option to directly manage that application.
Am I missing something here? Or is it a case of just having to live with it?
Problem 2
No big deal really but when I plug in my headphones a notification will pop up saying they are plugged in, on my note 3 it would also show recent apps used with headphones and I can quickly choose the app I’d like to use, my note 4 no longer does this, it will only show a notification that they are plugged in, no option to select app.
( I know a lot of people found this annoying but it didn’t really bother me)
Thanks in Advance

all the little things like the headphone bit are missing from note 4 compared to note 3 they have the features in the hidden settings but even if you turn them on they don't work very odd indeed....
Out of interest where can I find these hidden options?
I'm rooted now if that helps
Cheers

you have to install nova launcher(you dont have to use it as main launcher you can still keep touchwiz as main launcher and just have nova in app draw)click on nova hold finger on screen and then chose short cuts, then click activities and scroll all the way to settings and in the settings scroll abit further and you will see air gestures, air view and keep scrolling and theres page buddy and other stuff,to activate them either just click and a gear like icon will go onto nova screen or keep your finger on the setting you want and that will bring the setting up of the option your looking at...hope it makes sense just dont expect much to work just yet as i say it all turns on but i cant get it to work...

[Q] Priority mode on the G900F || 5.0 Lollipop

Hey guys,
Following the update to android 5.0 Lollipop (by flashing it onto my device using the G900F Poland firmware), i quickly found out "silent mode" was replaced by a functionality called "priority mode".
After doing some research on it i decided to set it up since i need my silent mode. The thing is, i can't find it anywhere in my settings.
I tried using my volume buttons to see if i could change the mode, i tried the settings 'Sounds & Notifications' section but no luck on finding priority mode anywhere.
Does anybody know where to find this "hidden" mode? Because i'm lost at this point :silly:
Thanks in advance!
You can find it under toggle window, see for the option "all"...You can set it to priority for the alarms to get through and some of the contacts if you want...set it to none to completely silence your phone..

Oh well.. that was tucked away nicely.. Thanks for the help!
I made a new thread about this because i didn't find this one when looking for silent mode. And on my phone i looked for priority mode, but the toggle is just called "all" and the section in the sound&notification settings is called "interruptions". Well one thing this interrupted was my night rest. And my mood. Anyway, thanks for the answer.
