The other day a young girl about 200 miles away decided to steal her daddys truck and go meet an older pervert she met on the interwebs. Well an Amber alert was issued and my phone woke me up, and the orange triangle with a number stayed on my phone. I was told by verison that it would not disappear until the alert was canceled. It was canceled and it is still on the phone and Verizon now says they just don't know how to make it go away. I can live with that but I don't ever want to hear another Amber alert. I am not cold or uncaring but I think that the Amber thingie is missuses for children that are missing but safe. I can set it to not go off except for presidential alerts and I had it set but it went off anyway. I don't want to root and there seem to be no solutions on the internets yet. I would think that with the proper file viewer I could go in and switch the sound file to an empty or super quiet audio file. Sort of a windows work around. Anyone here know how to do this? I am not android literate but I can follow directions.
I don't know if you are on lollipop yet, but for me there is an actual app called "Emergency Alerts" in the app drawer. The setting are in there.
I think on kitkat, the settings were in the Messaging app.

Hello everyone!
I've got some weird issues with my Samsung Focus. Throughout the day, my phone doesn't receive any messages. It can be for periods of 10 hours. If I shut off my phone for a minute, then turn it on, I'll either get a message then another a minute later..etc.. Or I'll get a flood of messages at one time. The messages were all sent from the past, and come in the proper order, but not at the right times (they have a delay). I didn't have this issue until I started looking around at my diagnostic application so I believe I accidently changed a setting in it. I've already talked to at&t but the store here won't do much with it because the water indicator is red. I have my phone in developer unlocked state (I sideload apps and apps that I make). The reset data functions don't seem to change the diagnostic settings back, so I'm thinking I'll have to flash it with an original rom, but I'm not an expert by any means, but I'll understand whatever instructions or tests that are given.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I haven't had a phone that never had text messaging issues so this is a bit annoying for me when people think you're ignoring them.

Can anyone help here? I'm running a T-Mobile SGT7, and it runs great, with the Sapir version of CM10 from the development section.
The dreaded Phantom Voicemail has returned. The options to turn off Voicemail Notifications under PHONE do not exist in this version, and I can't seem to get any help getting rid of it. It is annoying as hell, because every time my phone comes out of airplane mode, I have to hear the notification sound go off (even though the voicemail notification sound is set to SILENT), and the icon just won't go away.
Steps I've taken.
1. Notified erezak, the guy making Sapir, multiple times.
2. Searched for any known fixes. Found none for CM10 at least, other than for Sprint devices. They seem device specific.
3. Looked for the setting under phone, which doesn't exist in CM10 for some reason, though it was there for CM9...
4. Froze the Mobile Data (voicemail, in Titanium Backup) app in Settings/Apps. Comes back the next time airplane mode is turned off.
5. Uninstalled the Mobile Data app (in Titanium Backup), and the Phone keeps crashing until I reboot. When I reboot, the notification is gone, but I also don't get any bars for phone. I need it for AGPS.
Keep in mind, I do NOT use the actual phone option here, as the device is installed in the dashboard of my car, but place calls with it using Tablet Talk to my phone.
Also, the SGSIII had this going on, and they added the fix for it some time ago. If you don't know what Phantom Voicemails are, it is getting a voicemail notification that cannot be cleared, at all. The phone on my tablet has never been used.
Suggestions?
Over a thousand views, several ROM updates, and the option to disable voicemail notifications still isn't here.
The fix for CM10 for other devices is there, can't we just pull that?
Perhaps this could help get this fixed for us?

I'm having issues with the build system again.
However, the next build will contain the option to disable the notification.
My apologies for the time it took.
Missing voicemail icon
I am new to CM10 rom and I would just like to be able to put a voicemail icon on my home screen, latest version I flashed tonight did not have that anywhere that I could find....a little help please.
Thanks

Hey folks, this issue has been present on my Droid 4 as well as my note 3 for a few months, regardless of what rom I am on. The problem is that my Fiance works in a medical radiation cancer treatment center, and there is absolutely no cell reception for her. Because of this, we use hangouts through the day.
If my phone has been untouched for, lets just say 1 hour, and she sends me a message, I get a notification. However, if I reply to her, and a few mins later she messages me back, I get no notifications. No sound, no notification bar pop up, nothing.
This is super frustrating, but it acts almost like a feature that has been implemented on purpose. I want it to pester me, and I want to know the moment I have a message. Otherwise, I am constantly unlocking my phone and checking out the hangouts screen.
Running Jasmine now, but this was a problem with stock as well.

I have this SAME EXACT problem. Couldnt figure it out. Me and my wife are using whatsapp for the time being.
I have the Samsung GalaxyS5 from Verizon. Recently I noticed I have been getting notification sound/vibrate when I don't even get a notification. I have tried what seems to be everything and just can't seem to get it to stop. I also noticed that it happens every 5 minutes - on the dot. Even when I put my phone on silent it still vibrates. I know this in right, I'm thinking I have some type of bug or virus. I have the Verizon Protect which scans for viruses and such. According to that, I have nothing wrong. I had a system update which I installed a week ago. This hasn't been happening for that long, only about 2 days. But every 5 minutes exactly I get the sound of a text, with no text.
If anyone has any idea I am up to all options. I have went through numerous threads on different websites and nothing seems to be working for me.
I just need someone with a bit more tech skills than what I have!!
Please help me out. Thanks a bunch!!!!

It's not so easy to identify an app that make a notification sound/vibration. Just some suggestions:
- If there is any notification message on the notification bar, long tap on it and select "App info" to see it belong to which app.
- Check yourself what apps you have installed recently. Try to uninstall some apps that you suspect.
- Use Permission Explorer to check for apps that have "Vibrate" permission.
1: "Ghost" notif sound/vibe ~1/min? 2: Call blocking w/o Call Master app (req. root)
First a quick success story (*Please* skip straight to the 2 questions below if you are pressed for time. This story has nothing to do with my 2 problems/questions): I just got this phone Friday, after talking to Sprint's Customer Retention Department (how I love them - miracle workers) to get out of an existing lease on my previous phone, the Galaxy S5 "Sport", which was a BIG mistake to get. I still had another 14 months left on the lease, and I was SO sick of the phone, so I called threatening to cancel my service. I said that T-Mobile has offered to pay my early termination fees and give me a free S7 Edge and the "Jump" program. I told them that I really did not want to leave Sprint, but I felt like they were giving me no choice. *Boom*. Lease canceled with no fees, phone buyback amount credited, and a $25 loyalty rebate next month to offset the ONLY thing I had to pay (the $30 activation fee) when picked up the S7 Edge at a Sprint Corporate store down the street from my office less than an hour later. I felt like I'd gotten away murder! The store employee was combative at first after looking at the notes on my account, so I just called Customer Retention again on speaker phone, and I happened to get the same nice young lady, who proceeded to verbally and emotionally abuse/bully the store employee into doing *exactly* what she said, including apologizing to me for his "incompetence" (her word!). I was blown away. This was all on a whim. I didn't wake up on Friday planning to do this, so I had an unexpectedly enjoyable weekend with my new precious. I was disappointed at first about the relatively small amount of Root/Kernel/ROM discussion going on, but I got over that very quickly. I love Samsung pay already anyway.
Hope that made some of you chuckle.
2 questions for the Sprint S7E vets.... I scoured this phone's entire forum group for the answers to both of them, but with no success:
1. I am hearing the default notification sound (or a single short vibration pulse if ringer is set to vibrate), VERY frequently. Every 30 seconds, then 45, then 30 seconds again, then 1 minute, and yet.... there is nothing in the notification pull-down indicating any activity. It's not a "persistent" notif for a new email/gmail/text/FB-event that I haven't truly acknowledged. There is LITERALLY nothing visible happening on the phone. No LED behavior change, no icon counters on any home screen, or in the app drawer. There is NOTHING to acknowledge. I feel like Jack in The Shining... more and more with each vibration! I have gone into settings/notifications (basic and advanced) and blocked notifs from every app I saw that I didn't see any reason for it to notify me, but the notifs keep coming, and coming.... Could blocking individual app notifs as I did have actually created this behavior somehow? This problem is the one that I can't make it through the day without going insane if I can't figure it out. WOW.
2. My primary reason to root in the past, other than bloatware removal and the hotspot mod, was an app requiring root that I have run on my last 6 phones, going back to the original Epic 4G. It's called Call Master (by "Fahrbot") and it is one of the most complex apps I've ever used, besides some of the Wanam apps/plugins. It's the most comprehensive call blocking app as far as I know, and that's why it requires root, to hook into the phone's services in order to catch/answer/hang-up any call from any number that is not in my contact list. It prevents non-contacts/unknown/restricted/private numbers from even ringing my phone, let alone leaving me a voicemail. They just hear dead air when they dial my number. In effect, it is a "white-list" call blocking root only app, and I I simply can't live without it. I haven't had time yet to test the built in so-called "blocking" settings of the S7E, but if it sends them to my VM, well... that's call rejection, not call blocking, right?.
Sorry for the length. Any and all thoughts/ideas appreciated. The "ghost" notif issue is driving me insane even as I type this... OMG!
Problem #1 stopped when I turned off the slider at settings/accessibility/notification reminders. I swear it was doing it even when there were NO unacknowledged notifs though. At least it stopped, but does anyone know what invisible notif could have somehow remained unacknowledged without any way to see it?
#2 I'd still appreciate input on, from anyone who has experience with the phone's built-in call-blocking functions.
