I'm rooted on Lollipop with the default TouchWiz rom, but my USB flash drive is no longer recognized on my phone. However, it is recognized on other devices on kitkat. How can I solve this?

i wanted to know if i would be able to update my friends GM900F to the newly released Android 5.0 ROM without a computer.
Only reason im doing this is because for some strange reason his phone isnt being recognised but my S5 (GM900H) is. When pluged in it doesnt even say connected as media device on the phone itself. Tried doing all i could, reinstalling drivers and what not even using another laptop on windows 7, and yes USB Debugging is on
he really wants to flash the new ROM badly and doesnt want to wait for an OTA,
I was wondering if in theory i could get it to work by rooting his phone with towelroot, installing Mobile Odin and then flashing the Firmware?
if it fails and is soft bricked i dont know how to go about fixing it cause it just wont recognise the device at all or install drivers, but my S5 (GM900H) gets recognised fine.
Has anyone ever used Mobile Odin to flash a whole new firmware?
any tips
Wait for first custom Roms and flash via recovery. [emoji52]

I had lollipp on my Android Samsung Galaxy S5 and tried to follow a guide from Android central on downgrading from Lollipop 5.0 to Kitkat 4.4.2
Phone has had serious battery issues since being on lollipop and sometimes heating and I'm planning on rooting.
I tried all the steps and got as far as flashing the firmware in Odin 3.10
and it keeps flashing up with fail.
Phone says Downloading do not turn off target !! with the android logo but Odin says Fail
The firmware i'm using is G900FXXU1ANE2_G900FEVR1ANF1_G900FXXU1ANE2_HOME.tar and also tried G900FXXU1ANG2_G900FEVR1ANG2_G900FXXU1ANG2_HOME.tar from sammobile.com
I've downloaded all the versions of 4.4.2 on there and have two usb 2.0 cables and a usb 3.0 cable to try in the front and back of pc.
Please help.
Whats the exact version of your galaxy S5.
Odin wont let you harm your phone. So always will FAIL.
It's a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F.
ok, yeah.
your phone isnt bricked. just pull the cable and battery out. restart. and i think you should be safe. if not..
Hold vol up, home and power button together. then you should come into recovery menu, in there i recommend doing a wipe and factory reset. just figure out how to save your personal data.
the main reason your s5 is heating up and drains battery= old apps not configured to lollipop. alternative uninstall the app that drains the most battery in the battery app. its not wrong with samsungs lollipop rom, just that its sometimes not compatible with old unupdated apps that are made for older versions.

What lollipop firmware do you have atm ? Some new firmwares are with locked bootloader.
Hi guys!
I am attempting to use QPST manager to backup my EFS prior to root access because I'm paranoid about modifying without efs backup.
I believe the cause of the problem is that I have downloaded the I9506 new zealand 5.0.1 rom and installed it over the australia 4.4.2 rom, the reason being because USB connection was working before I updated to lollipop. My mum also has a recently purchased I9506 running 4.4.2 which connects to my pc without a problem. I have the latest samsung drivers and even installed kies, which doesn't even recognise my phone and says to install smart switch.
How can I get my pc to connect to the phone with RNDIS+DM+MODEM enabled?
Also, is there any way to get kies to recognise my S4?
Edit: Not sure how or if this may help but in the service mode app accessible from the dialer (*#9090#) my phone says DIAG CONFIG NOT SUPPORTED. How can this be fixed to be supported?
Thanks!
Hello everyone,
In order enable USB OTG, I installed hadeskernel 2.6 , but lost wifi in process (due to incorrect modem), so I reverted back to stock kernel.
So is there any way to enable OTG without losing wifi or anything? I am on Marshmallow and my baseband is: A300FUXXU1CPH3
Thanks
Bump! I really need that too
Thakn you in advance
On the stock Oreo I was able to access(read & write) my external drive or any usb drive by simply connecting the otg cable.
But now on any custom rom whether its Oreo or pie Its a headache.
I'm now on custom Pie rom
Someone pls assist me by getting otg support on this or any other custom rom.
Is there a way to port the files from Oreo stock rom which consist of command for Otg support?
I'm so desperate to get my otg enabled but I also don't want to leave this custom rom.
