Samsung Galaxy S4 Call Drop and Network Issues

Hi All,
I have been facing major call dropping issues on my new Samsung Galaxy S4 which i previously thought to be a problem with my new postpaid connection. but later on searching realized this to be a bug which many others are facing world wide. I couldn't find any proper solution to it other than this.
What is did is change in settings>connections>more networks>mobile network>network mode> then select gsm only. Have been using it for 2 days now and seems the issue is resolved.
Might help others.
This isn't a fix, why would I run my phone only in 2G / Edge mode... for a 3G/4G device???
There is something strange going on here, I've replicated this issue on 3 different carriers in 3 different countries (AT&T = USA, Chunghwa = Taiwan, China Unicom = China), so it's NOT a network issue. I strongly suspect that the first batch of Samsung GT-i9500's have faulty network chips, there is no other explanation as to why this is a continued issue even after all these software updates.
I had a reception problem with the I9505 too, so it's seems the hardware isn't the problem. With the newest firmware, the problem is gone.
My reception is great, only in shelters it goes down to zero bars and still didn't had any call drops.
I use an I9500 which I bought it on 13/05.

This isn't a RECEPTION issue. Randomly, throughout the day:
1) Signal will go from full bars to NIL... I'm talking airplane mode with the circle with a line through it.
2) Some time later (a few seconds to longer sometimes), the signal will come back along with 3G / H+.
It has improved with software updates, but it still happens and is completely random both time and location wise. The worse part is, this will happen sometimes in the middle of a phone call, which means you suddenly get disconnected. And yes, this happens when I'm sitting in one spot with a strong signal, so something is seriously wrong with some of these early i9500's.

I yet have to face this issue. You using i9500?
Happened to me with a self cutted microsim. Replaced it with a microsim factory made solved my problem.
I was experiencing the same issues with my i9500. It all solved when I flashed MG9 modem. Since then, I´ve never lost signal or service.

There have been several other network related issues with s4..all with different solutions. .but as of now the issue I faces was random call disconnects which is gone after selecting only gsm as im on 2g..
We can discuss all problems related to s4 network and their probable solutions in this thread... hope that might help many..

Have the same problem whit telenor in denmark. Talked to telenor about it. And they told me after some test, that the phone refuse to change from 4g to 3g when there is a incoming call.
But when i'm at the 3g /gsm network only i'm getting all incoming calls

It was all good with MDM.. Then I flashed the German rom and updated to MGA and then MH2. Both of them(MGA and MH2) find it hard to stick to the 3G signal and it just drains the battery. I put it to GSM only (2G) and the signal is full but the battery in my opinion is still not AS good as MDM. I sooo soooooo hope they fix it in the next update and soon!

I've had the same issue on 4 carriers: ATT, China Unicom, China Mobile (2G only), Hong Kong (forgot the carrier). This only happens on my I9500 because I cannot replicate it on my HTC One. In all instances where my I9500 craps out on me my HTC produces a strong reliable signal that never drops.
Same thing here... it happens on China Unicom, Chunghua (Taiwan), and AT&T. There is something seriously wrong with a HUGE lot of i9500's.
I have the i9505 and I only have 3 options in the network mode setting menu not 4 like I was told by other users there should be.
My network data connection drops out more often than its connected reguardless of the signal strenghth bars or also despite the about phone signal information.
I have tried a few roms all with the same problem. Im on the 3 network uk I had galaxy note before the s4 and never experienced any problems at all
It is also not area related as I have checked the coverage for the area and im in a fantastic area for cover but if I am indoors outdoors at home my dads or the shops still the same constant no internet connection error the h or h+ or 3g icon just vanishes from the too for no reason.
Can anybody at all offer any help or advice in any way in reguards to it or is it most likely I have a bad handset?
If I have the network set to auto or wcdma it is the same problem .... if I select gsm only I dont get any data internet connection at all is this right?
There is no wifi on either to cause any interferance I keep it turned off on the handset and bluetooth is off too
Thanks for any help or advice

Hmm, really bizarre that both 9500 and 9505 handsets are seeing the same phenomena. Could it be something software related then?
Question: For those that see this cutting out and returning of network signal, do you have a bunch of stuff disabled / uninstalled / removed?

Problems with N900A LTE Signal

Hello everyone: I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this, but I'm having annoying problems with my handset since I updated the OS to Lollipop N900AUCUEOC1. My handset is SIM unlocked and use it here in my country Peru, South America. The problem is as follows, it is most of the time with only 3 signal bars of LTE, the handset must outside to get full bars, but the real problem is that sometimes it doesn't get any connection at all (pic attached), most of the time happens right after I disconnect from my house's WIFI, or sometimes, it only connects to H+(4G), I have to dial *#2263# and change it to any option and then, set it back to LTE/GSM to gain access to the LTE Signal, and I do this everytime I lose LTE signal, I must tell the phone to use LTE instead H+ o get the signal back. I think there is a set of numbers somewhere that I can manipulate and tell the phone that LTE signal is available always and stop losing signal. I little story to understand my predicament, when I bought it it I had the same problems, and I took it to a guy who did something to the handset and worked perfectly ever since, he told me he "recalibrated" the signal settings. But after upgrating it to Lollipop, the problems came back. And the guy is no longer where I remember I found him.
Thank you in advance for your help, I really appreciate it.:fingers-crossed:
If you have questions or need more info, I'll be happy to provide it.
Hello,
Try to enter in Settings -> Mobile Networks -> and choose the Prefered Network to the mode you want!
**You're not breaking any rules, you are just asking for help! XDA is exactly for that!**
(I'm using an unofficial and modified CM13 by TEMASEK, so this steps is in AOSP settings app, but I think that is almost the same thing in TouchWiz)
Try this and tell if it works! ^.^
Sorry about my english, I'm brazilian...
Hey, thanks for your reply, but I cannot do what you told me because I don't have that option, I'm running stock ROM and it is not rooted. I canot change the ROM to any other ca use of my locked bootloader . Don't worry, I'm peruvian, English is not my native tongue.
Images of my problem inside this word
Good morning, here are pictures what I have to go through to get the internet connection back on my handset. But today was the worst day of this issue, even this procedure did not work and I had to restart the handset in order to have internet connection.
Please, I need help!!!

Xiaomi Mi A1 big network issues

Hi everyone, I own this nice terminal, but I have a big problem. When I use the 2g network, since I'm in Italy and in 4g cannot receive calls, the phone has a very low signal and remains completely absent very often. I have the same problem when 4g makes the switch in 3g. Sometimes to recover the signal I have to turn the airplane on and off. It's normal? And does anyone have the same problem or can he help me? Is this a hardware problem? With a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro in I own these problems do not occur, so I rule out the problems of my network operator.

Also noticing issues with Chromecast .It fails to detect Chromecast and need to toggle airplane mode
With the 7.10.14 i didn't noticed this.
Chromecast works perfectly, also i'm not facing problem with 2/3/4G signal.
Wifi is not that great however.
I'm not going to upgrade to latest version until they don't fix this problem.

I'm in italy too but the modem, so far, worked really well for me.
I'm using vodafone and when receiving calls the signal switches back to 3g (very rarely 2g) but never faced any issue. After the call ends the phone switches back again to 3/4g in a few seconds.

Network issue when using the 3G mode

Hi,
I have a SM-N910H and since months i have an issue with my 3G and network connection.
When i set the network to automatic 2G/3G, the phone can't recognize my network and i have a message telling that i'm not registrated on the network, and when people called me the phone rings for them but for the Note nothing happens. When i switch to 2G, the phone works perfectly and i can connect on EDGE :crying:.
i've reset the phone many times and update it with the latest ones but nothing happens.
has anyone faced the same issue?
If i root the phone and put a custom rom can solve the issue?
i love so much my Note so i don't want to loose it.
Thanks in advance.
