sx56 upgrade query

I just upgraded my o2 XDA 1 to sx56 upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003.I am aware of that sound problem, which is pretty sucky. But is there anyway i can change the sms ringtone other than the default ones??can i set .wav or .wma as my sms ringtones.Any help will be appreciated.
Copy a wav containing the sound into the windows folder of your device.
The file should automatically show up in the "Start - Settings - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications tab - 2.Select how to be notified"-dropdown.
I am not sure wether you can use only wav-files, I think the extension needs to be wav, but you might be able to trick it into playing a wma file by changing the extension to wav.
Copying Wav File into your Ringtones Folder.
You can also record music files using your Voice Recorder Application and or Voice Prompts or Messages. This is cool because now your PDA is different from all the others that have the same standard ringtones and prompts. The Quality using the Recorder is also pretty good. That is the easiest way to do it. Oh and ofcourse you must then move the wav files to the correct Folder for your ringtones to see them.
Hope that helps.....

why some .wav files wont play in my mini? thanks for replies

hi all... would like to ask something:
i have few wav files (for ringtones) that wont play in my mini.. they are ringtones files and play normal in my desktop pc. the sizes are normal too.. i dont understand why certain .wav files fail to play in my mini. any suggestion how to fix those files?? thanks alot.
I think they need to be PCM-format wavs.
Windows Sound Recorder (in Programs, Accessories, Entertainment on the PC) will save them in this format. You can also adjust various other settings for size / quality.

Custom Wav Sound Settings?

Ok I am trying to get some custom message/MMS tones and I have been searching the forums for the past hour and a half. All I have gotten is convert your tone to wav and stick it in the windows folder.
I've done that and it still wont work, so I was wondering if there were any special settings that I need to save the wav file with so it will work. I've tried many ways and different combinations but I'm hoping that someone would know better than I do. Thanks for any help!
I think you want to save them to Windows > Rings.
The folders for ringtones etc are;
\Application Data\Sounds\...
\Windows\Rings\...
or\My Documents\My Ringtones\...
All of these folders are checked depends on the type of sound ie , I use a simple mono 8bit wav file to save file space for sms text etc, MP3s or WMAs (smaller files) for ring tones and MIDI files for alarms.

Message Tones Problem??

Hey everyone,
I was wondering how to change the message tone in the HTC Touch HD, to a message tone which i've downloaded over the internet
Thannks
Appreciated
look for a small program called ringo, it allows you to take small sections from your ringtone or song, and converts and sets them as either ringtones or message tones
Try convert those tones to wav format or wma format. and paste into -my device-windows.
and it will appear in the sound settings. cheers!

Hi, together!
Can any body tell me the name of this sound file and where I can find it (look to attachments)?
It's a notification sound and appears for example when i will make Softreset with "HD2_connections"-Button.
