Sony Flashtool 'Emma' Linux alternnative - Sony Cross-Device General

I wanted to use the Sony Flash Tool 'Emma' to upgrade my Z1's bootloader to the new one with recovery mode support (http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...f-unlocked-xperia-devices-video/?k=1431953400), but it's not available for Linux operating systems. Is there any way to download the upgrade and flash it manually or any Linux tool with similar functionality?

Why do you think so? On the Sony developer site it says that it was for Xperia T2 Ultra, E3, bla bla bla and also Z1

Yeh I was wrong

Setting up Windows 8.1 in Virtualbox now, but it's weird to only provide the tool for Windows, as most Android developers rely on linux based Systems

[Driver] Asix AX88772 kernel module (USB Ethernet) for Xperia Tablet Z

Hi,
This is my first post so let me know if there is anything missing...
Based on this thread dedicated to the Galaxy S III, I managed to build the kernel module for the USB Ethernet adaptator for the Xperia Z tablet.
It was not that easy for me, so if other are interested, here is the precompiled file for the stock ROM 10.3.1.C.0.136 (4.2.2).
(I also built it for the Xperia Z ROM 10.3.1.A.2.67, feel free to ask for it)
For any instructions how to use this file, please see the thread linked below in the Galaxy S II forum, it works the same for the Xperia Tablet Z.

Hi,
finally I got in to work in my xperia ion ics stock kernel .But the problem is as per this post slideshare.net/gxben/elce-2012-dive-into-android-networking-adding-ethernet-connectivity Many apps based on java framework will rely on connectivity manager, they do not recognize the connection. An ecm patch was already ported to android x86. But if such a patch is made for arm based phones and tablets one could flash a custom kernel to make it work.Installing a kernel is not that much easy for an average android user like me. With a locked bootloader is it possible?.If such a patch exists for arm phones.

Hi, KrisTouF!
Thank you for your work and could you please share usbnet.ko too.
And two more questions:
which adaptŠ¾r do you use and should these files work with all adaptors or only with yours?

Hi,
Lenovo Vibe X2 is having same specifications as you said. I think it is possible to port that rom in Infocus M530 but, before that I want to say that the lenovo X2's L update is having some serious bugs. Please check it. And one more thing, in order to port you need custom recovery. Did ported any custom recovery into your M530. If yes, please let me know. Because I tried lot times & failed to port CWM & as well as TWRP.
No update for our device yet?
No custom rom,No recovery..... Is infocus m530 support dead?

Nope. Since it is rooted you can directly write to the raw partitions for "flashing" a rom, thus no need for a recovery. But it is too dangerous. One tiny error would brick the device.

so better to buy a new phone than waiting for a os update...
I have a zopo zp999 (with a shattered screen so I'm back on ol' faithful - Galaxy Note 2 n7100)
The whole MT6595 I think suffered from being relatively closed source. Even though there was an ubuntu version of the mi3 I think and its source code released, other manufacturers didn't come to the party - like zopo.
Manufacturers are really their own worst enemy for slitting their own throats by being so restrictive with source.
It also might be partly associated with the MT6595 containing a PowerVR GPU.
Non-Mali (ARM) gpus tend to be more closed with their drivers too.
Whereas ARM have been releasing the drivers for their mali gpus for years now.
the MT6595 was the targeted at being a super-mid SoC. The top of its time. I think the last 32-bit CPU, and once the 64-bit MT697x cortex A57 & A53 based product well everyone lost interest really.
It's a good modem. They have a pretty good engineering mode - eg ability to choose LTE/HSPA frequencies.
beyond that... eh...

Phone supports treble and AB partitioning. You can probably flash a GSI from the project treble forums.

Does flashing a gsi is as safe as flashing a custom rom.
And after flashing gsi is it possible to revert back to official android one(pie)????????

a GSI (Generic System Image) is just a fancy term for a custom ROM system image for project treble enabled devices
And in theory, this phone supports the A/B partitioning (apparently, according to treble check app), you can try flashing to the other partition and set it as active?
Besides, I think you can flash the stock images if you can find them too.
Although, obviously this means you need to unlock your bootloader. Which of course voids warranty, etc, etc.
Yupp if any developer will take interest and nokia release source code.
Source code available now for 6.1 Plus & others.

Nokia have released the source code, so dev could possibly create a AOSP rom for the 6.1 plus and other source codes for other Nokia's are also available. https://nokiapoweruser.com/nokia-7-1-and-nokia-6-1-plus-kernel-source-code-now-available-for-download/
All we need now is a way to unlock the bootloader officially. Hopefully it happens this year. Nokia keeps saying stay tuned and watch their facebook page for updates on bootloader unlocking, so it should happen eventually.

Hi Nikhil, How did you go. Did Nokia allow you to unlock your Bootloader??
Did anyone flash a gsi and was able to get gapps afterwards? If so, how? I can't find a functional twrp for our device

Linux ?

Hi. On phones like ZE551ML is possible to install a normal linux ? Since it uses a x86 atom cpu, and the bootloader (isnt it bios?) has been unlocked ?
Of course not along with android, no emulators, no android kernel and all that crap...
