Can anyone find a reason why android one devices when on dual sim load the sim cards network very late?? i have to wait for at least 7-8 minutes or more to get both the signals appear on the bar! As compared to other phones.. Like sony xperia or htc phones the loading speed of both the sims are quiet nice speedy types.. Jst in 2-3 minutes worth waiting n woah uh have both the sims loaded!! Y problem in android one phones?

Do I need a "4G sim card" to get 4G speeds or no? My current sim card is probably 1 to 2 years old. Thanks.
(I know the new sim cards have a skinnier gold contact area).

Yes, you do in fact need to use the new '4G' SIM card.
I have an extra sim laying around that has the skinny gold contacts. Is that for sure a 4G sim or not necessarily? Thanks.

Not necessarily. The MT4G came with one in the box. I suggest you use that one or go to a T-Mo store and get a new one.
I don't understand this. Why would you need a new sim card? I have my old sim card and get "4g" speeds.
The new SIM cards help decide how your phone communicates with the network.
The older generation of SIM cards have a limited capacity to connect to the 4G network. They can only connect a couple thousand times and then they will stop. You'll be able to make and receive calls and text, but Data usually stops working. You will need to replace the SIM card with a new ones that has the ability to connect to data at a higher frequency rate than the old SIM. T-Mobile started to release these newer SIMs almost a year ago, so you may be using a newer one. If you want to know if the SIM card you are currently using is 4G compatible, call into Tech Care. They can tell which kinds of SIM cards are old and new.
Again, I would recommend using the one that shipped with your MT4G.

I am still using the original SIM from when I opened my T-Mo account (approx Jun 07; crappy free flip phone). I get 4G data speeds fine (see my sig image). Did not swap SIM to use this phone.
every day come new rom that vary in appearance and function, but no one ever thought of creating a ROM on an adapter which works perfectly dual sim ...
many of us need to have 2 cards and hence the need for the dual sim.
Great masters think even us poor owners of 2 cards!
thanks
Good Day All,
This is my first posting. Can the HTC HD2 be made into a dual sim (both on standby) phone? I know that you can purchase the dual simcard holder, but you have to manually switch between cards. Is the an app that would allow both to be on standby?
This would be great on only for the HD2 but for some tablets as well.
Thanks for your thoughts
No, reason being> for both to be on standby you need 2 hardware radio stacks.
Well that's not strictly true as I recently got one of these for my galaxy s2 ...
http://www.magic-sim.com/product-details.php?Product=13
it's transformed it into a dual sim phone with 2 sims actually active at the same time. I couldn't say if it works on the HD2 but it's maybe worth emailing them to find out?
It's a pretty handy device and it says it works on android tablets etc on the site.
Well thats not strictly a single dual sim standby device.
gmate is a seperate radio module (basically a second phone) that transfers the call, sms ect via BT to paired device.
Only works with some Android & iphone OS's & if you are going to have 2 devices you might as well have 2 phones.
Well kinda, although I find it more handy than that as its much smaller and lighter than any decent phone and I can't afford 2 galaxy s's so it's a pretty good compromise for me personally
Different strokes for different folks tho
Good point

Yeh wouldn't work for my needs.
Good idea but real answer is down to the handset manufacturers.
Thanks everyone for your replies....I appreciated them...
you should buy a dual sim phone.
It's the easiest way to get a great phone with dual sim i think
If only there were a dual sim HTC HD2 on the market....lol

Yeah. It's called buying another identical phone and taping them side by side.
*end sarcasm mode*
No, its limited by the chipset.
there are 2 in 1 sim adapters you can buy on ebay that will allow 2 sims for one slot. however there are many "versions" and some work some dont, its very hit and miss unless you know sim tech.. the one thats 40$ over the 3$ one with the newer version number is usually the one to go with..
but also know NOTHING about htc devices.

they're are Chines phones with this built in. there is one on youtube that i saw when i was browsing phones.. dual SIM capability and a 1.5GHZ dual core processor perfect replica of the Iphone4 but running android 2.3 G.B. i think it had about 572 MB of RAM but w.e.
either way i have seen it before and i know it is possible
. but i for sure think there is no way in hell you can mod your cell to do it...
Deal Extreme has some things you may want to check out...
Just do a search for "dual sim card" and you'll find a lot of options.
check for nokia c2 03 and above in list
it has range of devices
but they are symbian

Suppose you go on holiday for a couple of weeks: You buy a local sim card to get mobile internet and you're still available on your normal number for calls/sms.

I found a German website advertising a dual sim android phone. So yes, they do exist. I'm however not sure if Cyanogenmod could support such a phone.
i dont have any idea
I have no idea why dual sim phones aren't yet available in Europe. It is the ultimate solution for anyone who needs to use a work phone. In the times of dumb phones it was no bother to carry two but now when we all have our smart special one people are really struggling. Is there any normal (non-developer) user who is simultaneously using two smartphones? I don't think so.
It is very common in China, they call it "Dual (sim)cards, Dual Standby"...
nope at least not with a stock android phone, why would you want to ? i doubt any manufacturer would make that anyway, impractical feature for most people especially as most phones come locked to one network and are intended to stay that way, they wouldnt see a need for consumers to have two of the same network sims

they would, i should think... think of it this way: they give you two sim cards and you pay for two simcards. all they want is the money, and you using two sims will get them more.

I guess you need to buy a dual sim card phone from china or one of the known brands
Well there's the new Galaxy Y Duos, though i don't think how android would work with 2 SIMs
Although, i used to switch SIMs when i need mobile internet by:
Turn on flight mode >> open phone >> Switch SIMS (depends on your phone design) >> Close >> Turn off flight mode.
worked on a galaxy i9003 & HTC desire S no need to even shut it down.
From memory a lot of ZTE and Huawaei phones do tend to be dual sim. I think there's a few triple sim ones as well.
Seems to be a super popular feature on asian markets for some reason. Exactly why, not sure.
i had three note threes in last month all with same problem
unlocked phones. where the signal bars are when it loses signal
a round circle with a line threw it show on the signal bars area. now
when it finds signal again it will show up signal bars but when you
try and call or txt. it says. NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK.
now these are brand new phones out of sealed boxs and three phones
in a row in past month hav had same issue.
i hav another note coming on wednesday now if the same is with this
fone what do i do. whats the problem.
i hav tryed many diff sims. tryed the sims in my iphone right nxt to note and
they work perfectly. tryed rebootin fones and messing with network settings
and nothin does it. this is beyond crazy whats happenin here
i had a note 2 last yr and it worked flawlessly with signal so any ideas.
3 fones same issue now 4th one comin this wk. ???
Hi, it looks like your phones are locked to a different network than the ones you got your sim cards from. Try to unlock them first. Your sim worked on iPhone because your iPhone is officially unlocked. Hope that helps.
