Hi all,
Let me try to walk you through everything that I've done to try and get some help here.
I have an lg g2 sprint (lg-ls980)
1. When I got it I first upgraded to android 4.4.2
2. Then I rooted using stump root
3. I installed xposed and a few xposed modules....I then decided Id rather have a different rom, so
4. I used autorec (which to my understanding changed my kernel in order to workaround boot loader and install twrp? is that accurate?)
5. Booted to twrp, wiped data and installed cyanogenmod and gapps
After this I get stuck and can't boot past the lg logo, so I booted back to recovery and restored my backup. So I did the same and tried pacrom this time with the same results.
I then decided that if I'm going to be stuck with stock rom I at least want my knock on back, so I flashed the patched kernel and same thing- stuck at lg logo....
I know I downloaded the correct zip files and placed them on the root, and always wiped before flashing.
Then I went into download mode on the lg support tool to try to get back to factory, but it says my firmware and recovery is up to date. The odd thing is that the lg support tool shows my phone as ls740 rather than ls980... is this because of something that autorec changed? Do I need to download zip files for ls740 instead? So confused..
About phone in my g2s settings shows android version 4.4.2 and kernel version 3.4.0
Anyways, if anyone could help me to successfully get one of these roms to flash and get back to the kernel that supports the knock code I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
I have a Nexus 4 with TWRP and root, I have 4.4.2 and want to get to 4.4.4. Unfortunately, I can't update to 4.4.3 OTA. It says the update downloads, I hit restart, and it fails in TWRP. When I reboot, it says I'm up to date for a couple hours and then says I have an update again.
I'm not sure if it's because I have a custom recovery or what but if I need to revert I'd need help with doing that since I did all this about a year ago and don't remember how I did it. I also vaguely remember deleting something in the cache to stop update available messages. I'm not sure if that's to blame, but I'm positive the updates are downloading at the very least. They're just failing to install.
I'm sure this has been answered a number of times but I'm having trouble navigating some of the topics.
Hey,
Download the stock nexus 4 factory image and flash only the system image through fastboot. This will revert your system partition to stock and it will allow the installation of the ota to continue without any loss of user data. You can wait for the next update prompt or you can just download the ota from the ota thread and flash it yourself through TWRP.

The update process usually goes through even if you have TWRP.
You can try flashing the stock recovery through fastboot.
Which is the stock Nexus 4 factory image? You mean what it launched with, or do you mean the factor 4.4.2 image since that's what I'm on? Also I'm not sure how to flash through fastboot at this point. Will that remove my custom loader or just remove my root?
You can get the latest factory image from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Flashing only the recovery will not remove root. It'll only replace the custom recovery (loader).

You can follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
Flash only the recovery (refer section D, sl no.12 in the above guide)

I don't believe the reason for your OTA failure is a custom recovery, it is most likely a modification to the system partition. You should extract the system partition image from the factory image and flash that through fastboot, which will remove your root but you can get that back by flashing the SuperSU zip. Then after restoring back to a stock /system partition, take your OTA like normal.

I'm not sure how to do what you just described. How do I extract a system partition image and how do I flash things through fastboot? Also what version of the system image? The one I'm on? The one it launched with? So what I want to do is flash a factory image, yes? I can't just do that through TWRP? I thank you guys for your help thus far but as to the specifics of what I need to do, I'm not finding much by searching, it all implies specific levels of knowledge that I don't have.
I appreciate the help thus far and going forward.

So, have you got your adb and fastbooot drivers set up?
Sent from my Nexus 4
I think so, yeah. Sorry for the delay in my posting but I'd really like to get this figured out in advance of 5.0 so I can, you know, use it.
So I mean, I'm willing to wipe everything, go back to stock, whatever I need to do to set myself up for getting all the OTAs all the way to 5.0. I just need a little bit of help with that ... I backed up all my stuff, so.
Why don't you just go ahead and flash android lollipop? Since you've already backed up all your data, you can start afresh.
1. Download the factory image from Google's developer site.
2. Extract the contents to the folder android/SDK/platform tools.
3. Connect your phone via USB, boot into bootloader and check if it is recognized by using a command prompt and using command fastboot devices, it should return a value.
4. Run the file flash-all.bat which you can find from the extract.
5. It'll take care of the rest and you'll be good to go.
But it'll wipe all data and bring it to an out of the box state.

Will that work? Don't I need to be on the latest build for that?
And by using "command fastboot devices" what exactly does that mean? What's the step-by-step once I get it all plugged in and all of that?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK6hYVuKNlw - This one works perfect just replace the file he tells you with
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-lrx21t-factory-51cee750.tgz < Factory 5.0
Hope this helps
Hit The Thanks if it did
I couldn't really figure out that video .. he was talking about installing APKs and stuff and I didn't know which file from the factory image I was supposed to use? So I extracted it into a directory with the fastboot stuff as per another guide, hit flash all and it said it all worked ... and it did! So ya'll got me started and I stumbled my way to the finish. THANKS SO MUCH!

About flashing TWRP on the LG G2
This is a reply to the last post in the LG/TWRP post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670&page=116
And specifically, I was about to ask the same question as "ctowne", about the lack of loki_flash in the loki package pointed in the instruction page.
I'm really stuck here, because I already "soft bricked" my phone (rooted LG G2 D802 international) in two different states that required a complete flash and wipe with the originale LG ROM and tool. And one of these was caused by the AutoRec tool, which apparently doesn't work for lot of people and could lead to bootloops.
So, before trying anything I'd like to be sure I'm doing the right thing, and more importantly, that I have the complete instructions to do it.
To sum it up:
-according to the thread, I need the loki package and the TWRP package, but there is no loki_flash inside the actual loki package
-but there's one inside the last TWRP package! Should I use this one?
-also, is not clear where I need to move all the files to make everything works
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you downloaded the correct version of autorec? I have a VS980 and autorec worked perfectly....even after updating to the latest version (26A), after which I flash TWRP 2.8.0.1 via recovery (which autorec installs 2.7.0.0).

Apparently something went wrong with my first install. I tried again and the AutoRec flash went OK!
BTW, how do you update TWRP? Just flashing the zip via recovery and nothing else?

Yes. Have whatever version of TWRP on your phone and flash it. Make sure to reboot recovery and it will show the current version flashed.

Hello all, I have recently run across InvisibleK's ROM for the VK810, with LineageOS 14.1! This is my first post after years of lurking XDA, and thought to make a thread here since this is not mentioned anywhere. It appears to function normally on my VK810, but took a bit of finagling to get it to install correctly. For the most part, this ROM is pretty buttery smooth for being on such an old tablet, and it breathed new life into my old G Pad 8.3.
My steps to installing:
0. Get on 11A/Android 4.2.2 using a KDZ, or, if you are already, just go to step 1.
1. FROM 11A/Android 4.2.2, Root and install TWRP 2.8.7.0, following the guide in the forum
2. Wipe everything except internal storage/SD Card
3. Install the ROM
4. Install GAPPS
5. Reinstall recovery (TWRP 2.8.7.0)
While installing, the ROM's ZIP threw a few errors but it was still successful. The only things that seem to not work is cellular -- the cameras work, however, I have not tested Bluetooth.
URL to where the ROM is:
download invisiblek org/roms/lineage-14.1/vk810/
EDIT: I got it to install, but a heads up this kills the accelerometer.
Anyone have another download to this? It doesn't appear to still be present on the original linked site
edit: found it, updater invisiblek org/vk810
Hello Invisiblek. I have a Vk810 that I have flashed to your Android 9 lineage_vk810-userdebug 9 PQ3A.190705.003 1388 dev-keys. Ver. 16.0-20190726-UNOFFICIAL-vk810.
But here I am stuck. If I try and flash any newer roms, my tablet freezes during boot not getting past the Vz preload screen. If I try and flash the twrp in your repository for flasing these roms, I get the Security check error and cannot boot recovery or rom. I was able to use twrp 3.3.0 to get this far.
Got any tips to get me past this point?
(I started by doing a fresh .tot flash of 4.2.2. Then used Stump root to root. DD'd twrp 2.8.7 to recovery.
Started in 2.8.7. Updated twrp to 3.3.0. Restarted into twrp. Wiped everything but Internal Strg/Sdcard.
Flashed Rom (current), reflahed twrp 3.3.0 just in case then restarted.
Trying to flash any Romz newer then this results in only being able to boot to twrp. Flashing vk810-recovery-eng_bumped.img results in Secure boot error for twrp and ROM.
Am I running into any 64/32 bit problems? I hate being stuck on a 32 bit rom
More In-Depth install Instructions:
[VK810.4G] [altev] OTAs, .IMGs and KDZs, oh my (and one 22B TOT too) updated 4-6-2016
Thanks to everyone over the past almost six years who helped me get to the point where I am so far. Glad to help others in what ways I can. Thanks to bweN diorD for his Verizon LG G3 VS985 repository. Inspired me to do this for the VK810.4G...

Please don't ignore this thread, I have tried all guides and methods. Still Stuck:
So, I have LG G2 F320S (32GB).
Only Download Mode is working: Shows User B890 and ROOTED.
I can't flash any kdz file using LG Flash Tool 2014: It gives error at 2% (Searched all about it, Some people say driver probelm, So I tried uninstalling the drivers and install them again: No sucess. Tried another PC: Same problem)
Tried TOT method: P.S. There is no .tot firmware available for this device. So I tried kdz instead. It gives error: Failed Previous Load() : (Searched it, Nothing found)
Tried LGUP: It cant identify model number: i.e. It requires device to be on.
How I reached here:
1. Device was working totally fine on official KitKat. No official updates. So, I found a .kdz Lollipop for it. I flashed it using LG Flash Tool 2014. Booted up nicely but I was facing a bug: Dead Sleep (screen wont wake up sometimes once locked, although touch was working, Tried some guides to fix that But no success).
2. Found a Custom ROM by Cloudyfa running Lollipop here, Rooted the device, Installed TWRP v2.8.7. Flashed the ROM: Booted up nicely but Dead Sleep persisted.
So, Tired from everything: I wanted to revert to stock by using KitKat kdz: Put the phone in Download mode and tried to flash the KK kdz: Error at2%. It has been days .
P.S. The kdz I am using is fine as I once flashed it on the device in between all that flashing thing and this firmware was stable.
I've been out of the g2 scene for awhile but just want to make sure you've checked the hash for your kdz. Files go bad sometimes.

You could also try to find koush's universal adb driver or something equivalent. I've seen adb that seem to work but actually don't.
