Hi Guys. I have installed the Omnirom 5.1 on my Samsung Galaxy S2 9100, but I can't get videos to play back properly. I get the audio playing, but not the images, just a black screen. This is both for downloaded videos and YouTube, BBC iPlayer etc. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks. Neil

Bring this up with whomever provided you this unofficial build.
Exynos 4210 devices are going to be dropped with 5.1 due to lack of any maintainer.

So I went to watch my favourite music video on YouTube (Earl by Earl Sweatshirt, if you're interested xD). Anyways when I went to load it in landscape mode, the audio would play but the video would not move. So I turned off HQ, and it started working great! Albeit, the quality was greatly dampered. I am on Froyo using Cyanogenmod 6, the latest release and I am using the latest release of the YouTube client from the market.
Sent from my HTC Dream
nope, the HQ videos uploaded since Jan or Feb 2011 have a higher resolution compared to earlier ones (640x360 as compared to 480x360),so they just dont play.the 320x240 vids play as usual,so in a way HQ doesnt exist anymore for our phones, unless you r watching an older upload.
This just sucks,if not HQ atleast there should be resize/fit to screen options in the player so the video doesnt get tinier on the already limited space.
Thanks for the clarification.
I was wondering why some HQ vids work fine on my magic but most of the time I have the same prob with Smokexz heh.
I've noticed while running Gingeryoshi 1.1, using the Stock Browser allows you to watch HQ Videos. But there is a slight delay from the press of play, to the actual playback.
Sorry for the bump of this old thread, but is there really no recent rom that allows for the play of HQ videos? Does anyone know if installing an old apk of the youtube app allows it?

yea i think COS-DS gingerbread lets you, pretty sure. I love Earl Sweatshirt, best 17 year old rapper in the world. And lets not forget Tyler the Creator.
strange did u try updating flash
a hard reset might fix it
There is no flash for G1 though...
Here's a video I uploaded showing the video playback capabilites of the Galaxy S2.
Enjoy
A thought . Would you be able to upload the original video you played to multiupload or such .
Reason being that can be used as a proof to those who cannot play that spec .

Hi man,
The original file can be downloaded straight to the Galaxy S2 through 'TubeMate' which is free from the market.
Actually, I'm going to do a video now to show people how easy it is!
Tube mate thats another app i forgot to transfer from SGS 1 .
Is it still on the market i thought it had been pulled .
I have APK anyway .

I downloaded a 1080p mkv file of the new Pirates trailer (seeing as my "limited" edition didn't come with one). Bloody amazing. Although not sure 133mb for 2'20 mins of video is really worth the space.

Once the MHL USB HDMI is available it will be!
maybe out of the subject op. but were do you get those nice 1080p rnb songs.
i need to make a new album
the phone can even play a 1080p flash video stream from youtube.com directly in the browser, without any stuttering or other problems.
Speaking about flash movies.
I noticed that this phone has problems with .flv files. It plays them no problem from start, but when you try to start/resume from middle or near end of the movie, and the movies is quite big, the movie application will hang or force close...
did you update flash? its available in version 10.3 on the market ... stock version is 10.1 and has some issues.
I got my mhl adapter today my girlfriend upgraded her phone and bought a infuse 4 g since she likes my gs2, and how bout that samsung included one in the box.

Nice! I've been scouring Ebay for someone selling the MHL connector without luck. Video proof is demanded!

Try updating your flash player in the Market. I just tested movies 2k and had no problems watching movies through my browser (Dolphin HD).
Most dont
Some work on movies 2k but none on icefilms or some other sites. I have the latest update from the market place. Thanks for your help.
Icefilms uses divx webplayer, not flash. There is no divx webplayer app for android so you will not be able to stream from that site. I wish I was able to stream from there too.
Hi All,
I have noticed a disturbing trend on my new Note 3. The streaming video playback is pretty terrible with just about everything except youtube. Has anyone else experienced this or do I likely have a bad unit? Thanks.

This is sort of expected behavior as apps need to be updated to utilize the Note 3's hardware decoder otherwise it has to be decoded in software which is slower and more battery consuming. What apps and what codec is the video encoded in?
Hmmm it seems strange that poor web video playback would be expected on a device targeted toward video consumers. I have encountered this with every streaming video I have tried to play in both Chrome and the built-in browser, with the exception of Youtube videos.
Have you tired Dice Player? Watching Pacific Rim 1080p right now
Only choppy video is from YouTube. I downloaded a few 1080p movies and trailers and they run flawlessly. So I'm assuming it's the youtube app needing to be updated as well as what exothermic video apps. Mx player works fine as well as the stock player

Hello all. I have had my S4 or a week now and am loving it. So superior to the Galaxy S3. But I have noticed a small issue. When playing videos on some apps like youtube, the video will studder alot. No this is not a buffering issue and i have concluded that. And it seems that when playing videos from the youtube site on internet, the sound will kinda lag sometimes as well. This doesn't happen on all video apps so i don't think it's a hardware issue. My S4 is not rooted and is fully stock. Can anyone help me??
