Need help with Java/Web DB - Java for Android App Development

I've been working on this application and I'm at a complete standstill. Basically, it's a restaurant app which relies heavily on restaurant menus as it's core foundation. Without a database of menus, the app/website cannot exist. So, I've tried contacting grubhub, openmenu, locu, etc., which all offer an API for this. The caveat here is that in order to be granted access to the API, you must have a valid website or app which has "traction", or basically, thousands of users. How can I get access to one of these APIs or how can I source the information to create my own database? Any and all help/ideas are appreciated.

[REQ] app to fetch data from web site

Hello, XDA-Developers!
Basics: I'm looking for someone who can develop an Android app. It needs to be a simple application to fetch pages from a web site from a phone-friendly interface. It's intended to be a companion to the web site to enable easier access.
Background: I run a gaming website, gameshard.net. We're doing ok, and in order to reach out to new users and make it easier for users to access the site, I want to develop an Android app. But I have no android development knowledge at all. So I'm looking for help!
The Specifics: The GameShard.net app should be a simple, clean app designed to let users access information on the website through a touch-friendly interface. Specifically, users should be able to access the latest news, our library of reviews, features, and their profile (and inbox) from the device. The closest similar example I can think of for reference is the Eurogamer app for iOS. The app will be free, so incorporating adverts in a non-intrusive way would be welcome.
I leave it to the developer to decide what the easiest way to do this would be. It might be that the app could be a simple launcher for a custom iOS version of the website, or perhaps it would be better to fetch the data in a different way- I'm open to your ideas! And I'm willing to pay for your time, of course.
So, thats my pitch! Please let me know if you have any questions, and if you're interested in working on this send me a message.

Google SpreadSheet and Android

Hello everyone,
I just joined and I am not sure if this is the correct section to ask this. If its not I really apologize
I created a Google App Script that generates a form with check boxes and text-boxes for our monthly equipment checks. A technician would walk around and check off any damaged equipment that we have. This data is recorded in a Google drive spreadsheet which then generates a report.
I would like to create an App which basically does the same thing. But I am not sure where to start. I tried researching the Google APIs but it is way beyond me.
My question is has anyone attempted or done something similar in the past and if so how easy is it to manage? I would host a simple database on our network for this but there is no way that our systems department would grant us the permissions.
Also are there (free) different or easier alternatives out there. My data would be True or False or Yes or No answers also text-boxes would store around 50-100 characters a very basic description of the problem.
I would really appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
You should probably have a look at the GData api for java its simple fast and free
I am currently working on a project using this
I will be right here for any assistance

[Q] Best networks for CPI/CPA without SDK integration?

Hello there!
Let's say I'm developing a web app targeting a specific group of people. I know their goals, their interests and their needs. I want to upsell them relevant services, products and apps, with entire experience natively integrated in my app interface.
So I need reliable mobile ad networks providing JavaScript or some kind of REST API, so I could just request product image, advertising text and referral link, and then mind my own business at displaying them inside the app correctly, without any need to install jar plugins and registering mediators. And then be payed by CPI/CPA.
Any idea what networks are the best in that regard?
(I'm using Intel XDK btw)

can you just put google adsense ads? i've been wondering what is wrong with doing that?
Curious to see what the answer for this as well, have definitely seen this question pop up a few times.
Adxmi use API integration
global ads network Adxmi use API integration.
API integration available
I got API integration as I wanted from Adcash. Guess API is most common choice, at least in my comm. circle
Please take a look at Hyper native ads API for app developers.
Our solution will cover your needs for sure.

[Q] Call for entries:: A Football (Soccer)Mobile App.

We seek developers from any part of the world for an innovative mobile app project.
This project is dedicated solely on Football in a country in Africa.
For the eventual developer of this app, all the payment will be done through this medium. Although we are willing to pay between $1500-$1800 or maximally pays $2000 on this job
PROJECTS’ MAJOR COMPONENTS
News feeds, Videos/highlight shows, live score, Interactive communities, Feedback/suggestions
OVERVIEW
To design, built, operate and later transfer a football (soccer) mobile app.
OBJECTIVES
To pull news and other specified contents from web-portals, blog sites to the app. All this must be done without slowing down the app. invariably; we are talking about a sorting algorithm that is robust, fast and easily assessable to the app. IT MUST NOT SLOW DOWN THE APP.
Alternatively, creating a pool at which the app can interact with. All the news, videos et al will be aggregated in that pool and the app can eventually interact with it.
SPECIFICATIONS
The major components will make use of strong sorting algorithm because for instance, all the news components will be sourced from different web sources.
For LIVE-SCORE components, we are looking at an sms-based auto-app-update-lives-core. For instance match updates can be sent via sms to a dedicated phone number which must have been programmed to automatically update on the app. However, we will always appreciate if there are better, and cost effective options to achieve this feat.
OUR REQUESTS
The design must be simple but captivating,
The navigation must be easy
Must be on different version of Androids, iOS, Window Phone and Blackberry
Please when applying, endeavor to email me for further briefing.
The match fixtures, result and league table components must be easily navigable and more importantly, easily updatable.
The featured football/soccer clubs must have their logos attached to them. (We will supply those logos)
The app logo and naming must be unique. We will welcome inputs from you on this.
We are proposing a back-end kind of connection to match-day videos/highlights on a website. This app must have proper referencing of the source website, same goes for the news too.
The feedback component of the app must be able to send feedbacks/suggestions to the app admin.
We are yet to decide if the app will have an authentication pane with it, where one can sign-up, have a profile and log-in and out. But if it will, then it must be very simple- Username, phone number, email address, supported football club. The user log in page must be able to allow each user to log in automatically.
The app must have an interactive community, where app user can intearact based on the football/soccer clubs they support.
CONCLUSION
Please note that we are more interested in anyone/group that can achieve our BOT (Build, Operate and Transfer) option for us. We will strictly follow your own proposed remuneration afterwards.
There will be an MOU to be jointly signed by both party before the start of the project . This MOU must state your specified time frame for setting up the project, and also operating it.
Please note that all financial consideration will be paid to you ONLY when you are about to transfer the project to us.
More importantly, the App must be able to have specified sizes of Advertisement pane (This is a very important component).
For the eventual developer of this app, all the payment will be done through this medium. Although we are willing to pay between $1500-$1800 or maximally pays $2000 on this job

Best libraries/practices for native/cross-platform apps with DB backend

Hi, .
I am trying to figure out the best approach for an upcoming big project. Except doing small projects for Android (no web backend), most of my experience is with java, C++, and drupal programming.
The app I am looking at involves storing location for each user and a bunch of user data.
The app then needs to visualise/sort based on the nearby users on the map.
I've been reading up on current mobile technologies, which brought me to phonegap and drupalgap, although I am slightly afraid of being overly complex, and the delay of js rendering.
So I am also considering using a simpler restful service for login and user data storage (any recommendations? Do I build this myself?) and just building 2 native apps that communicate with this.
Drupalgap seems overly complicated to me and doesn't offer a good UI (would I use intelliJ and then just build a simple site in Drupal that is being rendered?). Or using the rest full services by hand (without phonegap) to do it native, as described at varunity.github.io/Drupal-Services-Android-App. Maybe there are libraries for this?
Sorry for the many questions, I just want to save myself time and do it right from the beginning. I am still very much in the process of reading up on existing libraries.
Thanks,
Do
