I am using a Lg G3 d855 and i have tested some roms of this forum....
Here are my results (tested with Antutu Benchmark) :
"Blisspop 2.1 Android 5.0.2" 26466
"-=- CloudyG3 -=- Android 5.0" 24934
"CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.2" 42888
"Resurrection Remix LP v5.3.8" 40236
"Stock Lg rom Android 5.0" 41399
I would upload the pictures, but i dont have the permission to post external link.
I also compared the google camera vs the stock camera and the quality was almost the same. So i decided tu use the Resurrection Remix rom because of the editing features.
I hope this will help you to choose your rom

I'm pretty sure aosp ROMs are significantly less in quality camera wise
Most popular? I think CC 4.2 is one of the most popular rom and of course AN 9.4 (but this is outside XDA). And quality of camera is way better is stock compare with aosp. I just dont flash aosp because camera quality. But thanks for this list ?
Eh? With Cloudy 2.1 I get 42XXX and you say 24934, did you swap some digits in the 1st and 2nd result?
And yes, the camera quality on AOSP ROMs is quite bad compared to stock based ROMs.

I will the delete the "popular", so it will be just the roms from the forum. Can you post the reults with yours roms ?
Are you saying Cloudy is a lower score than the stock LG rom? I get a similar score with Cloudy on Antutu to you but I find that hard to believe! The stock LG rom was a slug for me. Cloudy is far smoother.

Just the the benchmark thread, no one gets under 35000, something must be wrong with your scores. Did you use an old version of Antutu for the 24XXX results?

Opensource Open Camera works with any ROM. Might be better than changing entire ROM.
opencamera.sourceforge.net
opencamera sucked for me, confusing interface, crashed on cm-12.1-20151226-NIGHTLY-klte (havent tried it again after moving to CM13), doesnt do anything for 60 or 120fps so i'll just use AOSP/stock CM until snapcamera is enabled... which appears to be so soon omg such excite, very anticipation http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/127285/
Non-TW based camera apps will suffer from low voice recording. There is a workaround for AOSP ROMs but it is not as good as TW.

qualcomm made a reference 'snapdragon camera' app for their processors, CM team has been working on porting that code for devices & material design
sultan's rom for oneplusone has used this app for a few months now, he has also submitted code updates to the CM version, i think lg g3 users have also had a port of the app to play with
all 3 of these devices (s5, o+o, g3) use the same 'Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801' chip, hence snapcamera, CM is enabling it on various devices over time
i am unclear on how many features there are, but possible ones are picture modes, shutter control, histogram, sharpness, anti banding (artifacts from 50 or 60hz light bulbs), denoise, timelapse, & i am expecting... hoping... for 60fps & 120fps

Image quality wise, compared to TW and CM's camera, it basically just have very low noise reduction which causes less blurry pics on low light and which results in more detail

The OPX is my daily driver (for now) and photography is a HUGE part of my life. Most stable custom ROMs do have more features than the stock, but the camera app functionality and interface will never compare to the stock software. The 2 main features I use are slo-mo and manual mode. So why don't I use OOS 2.x.x? Simple, the community build based on marshmallow has massive performance fixes (especially concerning the GPU and gaming). If the camera isn't a big deal for you than go ahead and flash a custom ROM, this will add more features to your device and the cost of a great camera app. But I definitely suggest upgrading to a marshmallow or nougat based ROM (my personal favourites are CM and PA, they have many features and are pretty stable) due to the poor performance of the GPU on OOS 2.X.X.
let me know you opinions on software concerning the OPX below?
whats the point?
Anyway i find sultans HAL combined with snapdragon interface better.

Thanks for your thoughts and feedback? (camera seems a little buggy tho?)
The problem with the camera isn't the app it's self. It's the photo quality. Sultan hal uses higher iso settings to eliminate low fps during photo capturing, thus creating to much noise in the picture. That's why you can't get best of both. Furthermore that in latest OOS cam the video recording fps is normal now on, there is no need for me to change in any custom rom. ( by the time these lines are written of course, because no one knows what are talented and really hard working custom roms developers will bring us in the future)
Ps: of course I have test for long periods purity, sultan cm13, caf RR, and official cm13 in order to have a reference point.

Yes, I agree. But the interface on OOS is much more user friendly in my opinion than any STABLE custom rom out there. Sultan hal is much more complicated for the “simple everyday OnePlus user". The most noticeable downside between the two is trying to record slo mo on any custom ROM. There would be too much zoom, too much noise and it was hard to make it play in slo mo. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.?

To be honest, there are some problems with Lineage but it is still in Nightly so it is to be expected. In my opinion the best one (and the most popular) is Fulmics 6.9. It is based on the stock LG Rom and makes your G3 look like a G5 with UX5.0. I've been using it since day one and have had no problems with it at all. No bugs whatsoever.

If you would like to preserve the camera quality, then stock ROMs are the way to go. The bad thing about stock ROMs is you won't have Nougat with them, and worst of all, they generally don't have as much battery life as the AOSP Nougat ROMs and feel a bit less snappier.
If you would like to have the best battery life and/or performance, go with AOSP ROMs.
From my experience, best ROMs out there for LG G3:
ROMs with LG UX 5.0:
- Fulmics ROM
ROMs with LG UX 4.0:
- Tekcafe UX4
Fulmics have a few extra options in the camera and is much more (and easily) customizable through its Fulmics Tweaks menu, but Tekcafe UX 4.0 feels more fluid and snappier. For me, the extra speed bit is not a deal breaker, but sometimes I really hate the white UI of UX 5.0 - it appears fugly and eye-piercingly-white at times!
AOSP- and CM-based ROMs:
If you want a relatively more stable Nougat release, go with Mokee or Resurrection Remix, though AOKP will also probably perform well, too.
If you can live with a few bugs and a "dark" camera when you launch the camera (you need to take a picture with the camera for once so that the brightness gets properly adjusted for the following shots), AOSP Extended or Dirty Unicorns unoffical Nougat release should also be fine. Last time I tried them, AOSP Extended and either AOKP Nougat or else Dirty Unicorns Nougat (I can't remember which is the one now) had substantially better camera performance than most AOSP ROMs out there despite the aforementioned camera auto brightness bug. The problem is this auto brightness bug really started annoying the hell out of me after some time, so I switched back to stock ROMs.
Resurrection Remix Nougat was mostly fine, but sometimes I felt that it got slowed down too much if you enabled the Power Saver or lowered the performance profile of the phone through the battery menu.
If you want an AOSP-based Marshmallow ROM, Mokee, Resurrection Remix and Dirty Unicorns will probably be the better choice for you. Although the last Marshmallow release of Dirty Unicorns was an unofficial build for the D855, I liked how fluid it felt. The phone really felt slick - like a well-oiled machine :good: Unfortunately I stopped using it as the camera was nowhere near as good as stock. If you don't care about the camera, you may give it a try.
I hope this answer is of any help to you. Good luck with your new ROM!
Interesting thread, might i ask which ROM would give the most adequate camera quality? Thank you.

Stock ROMs or Stock-based ROMs should be your choice for the best camera quality.
So far I have tried the stock LG v30b, Tekcafe UX4 v3.5, N&N ROM v10.0 and Fulmics 6.9. I have been on Fulmics for some time now, so I can't make definitive comments about the others as my memory is fading, but from what I remember they were all very close to each other, if not identical. With Fulmics, you have a few extra options such as FHD 60 FPS video recording. That might be present on N&N v10.0, too, but honestly I can't remember it at the moment. For me, the most striking difference between the LG G5 camera app in Fulmics and the original LG G3 camera app in Stock v30b/Tekcafe UX4 was NOT in image quality but rather in colours/saturation. In daylight conditions I wouldn't see any difference, but in environments illuminated with lamps in a less-than-ideal manner, I get a bit more saturated and slightly yellowish pictures with Fulmics v6.9. With Stock v30b/Tekcafe UX4, colours seemed more natural, but also the picture seemed to have slightly less contrast with a hint of slightly washed-out colours. Honestly, I can't say one tops the other - all have their cons and pros, but all should be more than satisfying at the end of the day. As for photos taken using HDR, I found that the LG V20 camera mod found in the Fulmics Hub worked the best for me. If you zoomed in a bit after taking the photo, you could see that it reproduced colours a bit more faithully while being slightly less grainy, but it occasionally hung or crashed on my phone, so I ended up reverting to the stock G5 camera, which ALWAYS works great for me! :good:
If you want to preserve the camera quality, but want to get rid of most LG crapware, you can try Nimax Slim Fit, I've been using it in the last few days and so far I'm really happy with it. It's one of the most snappy and battery friendly stock based ROMs that I've tried.
I tried the AOSP pixel g3. So far it seems stable, however its far from the G3's stock rom. But honestly, nothing beats the vanilla android experience.

I flashed the LineageOS Official Latest nightly build a few days ago. It seems to be good, very responsive and good battery.
Unfortunately....there is an issue (on my device anyways) with the screen rotation not working. I have tried every possible configuration under screen rotation settings and it just wont rotate any screen or app.
After hours on google, this site and even submitting a post on here for help and getting no responses, I am going to give up on Lineage and move to RR I think.
My device is the LG G3 LS990
Allow me to join this thread too, I am confused on choosing the better rom too.
My standard on choosing rom is
1st: battery life
2nd: speed (performance)
3rd: customization on layout
Most important is battery life. I have tried many roms, I flashed AOSP-CAF for its pure android & slim, but I cant even use wm density command, plus customising the notification tiles.
---------
I flashed Fulmics, Tek-Cafe and crdroid, stock based & crdroid cannot read my SIM contacts, and crdroid drains battery pretty fast.
--------
I am using Cloudy G3 now but there are bugs making music app force close sometimes, if there are no good custom roms, I will be flashing back stock v10n. Since Kingroot is not compatible woth v30c D855...
----------
Which rom would you recommend in my situation?
Another question: will lowering size to 1080P, and DPI, increase the battery life and performance of the phone?

I moved from STOCK ROM because the voice dial through bluetooth does not work neither Lollipop v21a nor Marshmellow v30b, v30n..

Instead it works with RR and LineageOS but the Camera and stabilty are bad.

In my opinion, camera quality on custom ROMs isn't bad at all. I'm just telling you what the vast majority of people say.
Also, TouchWiz is a resource hog, so TouchWiz ROMs will never have the same performance as AOSP or Lineage ROMs.
Hi all,
New here; long time silent follower/downloader but never posted.
I had a couple of handsets spare in the house and lately have been a bit sick of iOS so decided to dust off the old OPO and G3, and to flash a custom Nougat ROM. I thought I'd end up using the OPO as it's higher spec than the G3.
I've installed AOSP-CAF 7.1 on both phones, with stock Open-GApps.
The interesting thing is that despite the OPO having 50% more RAM and the exact same CPU, the D855 feels much snappier and gives a better user experience. Any ideas on why? Is it the kernel? Bummer at the minute as I'll be forced to use the G3, even though it only has 16GB and 2GB, also with the lower res front camera. With the display being higher res as well, I'd have expected the OPO to trounce the G3! Any ideas?
Thanks!
Change ROM ?
Or change the kernel :highfive:
Seriously, I think that is due to the kernel settings. Sometimes (i remember on Omnirom),some roms need other kernel settings to feel better and smoother

That's what I thought too, but when I got the ROM running on the G3 it was definitely smoother. Any suggestions for ROMs/Kernels?
Definitely want Nougat and definitely minimalist/stock Gapps. Don't like the funky custom looks on a lot of builds.

No,Bluetooth works perfectly fine. Moreover if you encounter any other issues, the developer of this rom is kind enough to fix it for you.
