I'm getting pretty frustrated with my Note 4, if I use my phone the way I prefer to use it, I have so many useless icons in my notification area.
I have managed (through the use of an xposed module) to remove one icon so far, but still my notification area looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Is there some way I can hide more of these icons? I don't need to know that Bluetooth is on and connected, I don't care that my phone is on silent, my lock screen tells me my alarm is set, and the time is taking up more room than it needs to.
time can be shortened by setting 24 hour time in time and date settings.
for the alarm icon you can use smart alarm icon(root/xposed) or alarm pro/zdclock(3rd party alarm clock)
Or you could use a different launcher.

What other launchers remove status icons?
This is what I've managed so far with GravityBox and the advice from thedicemaster:
I still think more can be done, I really don't care that my phone is on silent, and the text for the clock is oversized.
here's another trick.
don't use silent mode, instead configure your own silent mode.
keep ringtone volume above 0, and choose "silent" as the ringtone.
you can set notification tones to 0 without triggering silent mode.

Hi,
I'm currently using Switchpro to toggle my controls and I absolutely love it but is there an app out there which does the same but puts the controls in the notification bar?
Something similar like they've done on the samsung galaxy s but with more options:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Thx
I'm not sure about an App to add this functionality?
But if you can get used to the Miui interface, it has that functionality built in.
I'm using the J-Style MIUI ROM and it's great.
from the notification bar i can change:
APN -ON/OFF
WiFi -ON/OFF
Rotation -ON/OFF
Backlight -OFF/LOW/HIGH/AUTO
Normal/Silent ring
Vibration -ON/OFF
Bluetooth -ON/OFF
GPS -ON/OFF
I don't know if you can use part of the MIUI ROM to get this to work on Sense/Non-Sense
completely overlooked this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838013
I've posted my question there
MIUI looks great but I'm not looking to change ROM's right now (might give MIUI a try in the future though!)
cheers

PS there is an app called "Quick Settings" which you can launch from notification bar, but it's an app so you don't see the controls immediatly when pulling down the notification bar
This is going to be hard to explain but here I go.
I'm using a kitkat TW rom, by default, when you lock it and unlock it you get the clock and message original from galaxy and you can just swipe anywhere to unlock it.

If you are playing music, by default, it doesn't show the clock and message, instead it scrolls to the right and shows you the music controls.
So, we could say that it passes from showing screen 3 to show screen 4.
The problem is that in my phone it passes from showing screen 3 to show screen 2, which doesn't contain any widget. Hence, I have to swipe to the right twice to get the music controls.
Is there any way to edit the default "lock screen" that it shows when the phone is playing or not playing music?
Thanks in advance
put a widget on the screen 2

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
As logical as your suggestion seems, the music controls widget cannot me moved from screen nor added in a new one.
The idea is to get those controls when I unlock the device, not another widget
ok, if your lock screen have an empty pages, try to remove them
just keep the home & music lock screen

Has anyone seen the above alarm notification on their Watch -if so which application does it come from ?
Its goes off twice a day (8:06am and 8:13pm) and I no clue why.
Thanks
It's the alarm on the watch... It is different from the one on phone.. Disable alarms on the watch

If you set an alarm on the watch (usually via the Google Voice commands - "set Alarm for 2pm" for example), it automatically sets it for a daily repeat. This caught me off guard too the first couple of times I used this feature. I really just wanted a single "reminder" type alarm and not the daily alarm.
The good news is that it is easy enough to delete these set alarms. Just go into the alarm app on the watch and you can swipe to delete them. I've started using the "timer" functionality more for these reminder type alarms. The end effect is the same, but it is only a one time alarm instead of daily. You just have to set the timer in hours and minutes. So "Set timer for 3 hours and 15min" works fine.
I use my phone in the car for navigation, music, etc. However, not every trip requires me to have the phone display on. If I'm running into town, I don't need navigation of course.
However, I also like the Always On Display, but in the car the phone is in landscape orientation, and Samsung couldn't be bothered to make the AOD orient itself in anything but portrait mode, as I'm sure everyone is aware of.
What I'm wanting, and asking, is there a way using Tasker, Automate, Automateit, etc. to toggle the Always On Display off when my car dock app launches, and then turn it back on again when the car dock app closes?
I tried using all three of those with no luck, I just don't understand some of the complex "languages" they use to describe processes and such. If anyone could help me with this I would greatly, greatly appreciate it.
Same question.
Any ideas?
In Tasker, use any method that allows you to set "aod_mode" system variable
I'm currently using the (old and unsupported but still working for some of its features) Secure Setting Tasker plugin
Here's the setup to set AOD Mode to "on":
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Set the value to "0" to disable
Anyone knows how to make the top notification (ex: spotify) always show in full? I have to drag it down to see the extra buttons, which I didn't have to do on my other phone a lg g6 on oreo also. See attached images for how it shows and when i drag it down a little you see there are more options. Why is it always showing the smaller version of a notification by default? Even other apps like system Do not disturb do this, have to drag down or click the notification to see the button to "turn off"
Edit: it's called expanded notification... I still can't seem to find how to make this topmost notification auto expanded. Its quite dumb that the expanded one takes a few pixels more, why bother shrinking it, samsung??

Temp fix... use another notifications app like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.treydev.pns&hl=en_US
It lets you set whether to auto expand the first or all notifications... yay.
It's also lighter on memory than others. About 70 MB use according to dev options running services.
