my wife dropped her verizon note 4 and the screen no longer works. all the sounds work (power up, call, text sounds). i tried multiple battery pulls and watched youtube videos on how to "fix" it with tricks like holding the power button down for 1 minute and pulling the battery for 5 minutes to no avail.
the screen was not cracked but there is no output. i have already disassembled the phone hoping to find something unplugged but ive had no luck there either. my question is, is there a way to ensure that the lcd screen is bad before i drop $180 on one? i'd hate to pay for a screen and have it be another problem.

Hello, My G1 has just suffered a problem, i was scrolling down a web page and the screen faded out like it had lost power but the backlight was still on, the keys lit up and it still could make the trackball clicking noise when you moved it. I took out the battery and left it for 5 minutes and rebooted my phone and the screen turned on for about 3 seconds and faded out like before but it did boot into android as I heard the notification/startup sound. I think that the screen has burnt out but im not shore so has anybody had this problem before and/or might know how to fix it
Just some more infomation, If the screen dies and I leave it for a few minutes, when I unlock it or slide the screen up, the screen works for a few seconds but then fades. Also the fading looks like the screen lost power or like its losing pixels
From my experience with phone hardware this doesnt look like screen problem, but rather the lamp driver in the motherboard. the only way to narrow down is test the motherboard /screen with another phone.
If this is the case, it might require servicing the backlight driving circuit, which by far requries soldering/desoldering some components in motherboard.

had the same problem its a hardware issue. tmobile sent me a new phone no questions asked
Thanks for the replies, it seems that it has fixed its self as I've been using it for about 5 hours and no problems so far, I'm using it right now to type this, if the problem persists I will try and fix it or just buy a new one
I dropped my S4 the other day and cracked the glass but it continued to work. A few days later I picked the phone up and hit the side button to bring up the display and now all I get is a flash and the screen remains black. Rebooted, pulled battery and still does the same. You can still hear emails coming in and when I get a phone call I can swipe the screen and take the call but it remains black. The only thing that lights up is the led and the menu and back button. I took it apart looking for a loose cable but saw none. Any ideas? New digitizer?

A few weeks ago I dropped my GS4 coming out of the grocery store. It hit the curb on its side right at the volume button. The screen (glass and LCD) broke. The volume button also deformed slightly. The case I had on it offered no protection around the buttons or the top and bottom. Got an Otterbox on it now.
Anyway, after weighing my options I ordered a new screen was replaced it myself. The process is pretty straight forward and only took about 20 minutes. I could probably do it in 5 if I had to do so again. Since the replacement I've noticed a few odd behaviors. It doesn't seem to charge as quickly (could be my imagination, I have no hard data to back that up.) I had it on the charger for about 6 hours last night and it only got up to 86%. It was at about 25% when I plugged it in. To be fair, last night was the first time that's happened. I was using the same charger I've been using since I got it.
Its also fully waking when I wave my hand over it to check notifications. It used to just show the screen with the notifications and time. Now, that screen comes up briefly then goes to the unlock screen.
The replacement screen is an OEM Samsung screen for the i337. The internal markings are all correct and match the broken one. Any ideas why this is happening?
Okay, the charging thing seems to have been a fluke. Haven't had an issue with it since that night. The issue with it going to the lock screen when you wave your hand over the screen persists though. It is happening every time. Also noticing that when I make a phone call from the handset (not sure if its the same when I initiate the call from Bluetooth) that the phone volume slider appears on the screen. The volume doesn't change, the slider just appears.
Hi,
I broke my screen on my nexus 7 screen some time ago and only got round to replacing it last week. The problem is after I replaced the screen I can see nothing on screen but the tablet is on, LED flashing to show I have notifications an also volume up sound when volume is at max.
I have double checked all my connections and all seems well. The next thing I guess it to replace the ribbon cables to find if the problem lies there.
Has anyone had a similar issue and could indicate if I am missing something.
Thanks,

The same thing happened to me on my note 2 u have to change a chip inside your phone which shows the display there is nothing wrong with your phone it's about display it will only take 50$ to replace it
hey guys...
so i had a rough night with my s7 edge...
i was at a concert and i started filming it with my phone and after about 2 minutes of recording i closed the camera app and put the phone back in my pocket
then, after maybe 5 minutes i wanted to check something my phone, but i couldn't get any response from it
the camera app was open with a black screen.. i tried turning it off but no luck
after few attempts and pressing all the button combinations i could think off, the screen went completely blank, but the led indicator and the capacitive buttons were still lit
i took my phone out of the case and i could feel it getting warm, then i thought maybe putting it under cold water would help it cool down?
i put it under a tap and let the water flow.. however, still no luck
then, after some time the phone finally turned down completely.. i turned it on and everything seemed normal until next morning
i wanted to watch a youtube video, but i couldn't hear any sound from the device.
i am sure that the water got inside somehow, but i thought the phone was water resistant? did anyone experience the same issue? can i fix this just by buying a new loudspeaker? how complicated is it to replace it?
thanks in advance
you can reflash rom and see if it's software or hardware related. the whole phone is glued, so its not that easy to replace, but a lil bit patience with hairdryer might work.
