Fps lock - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, guys. I have fps lock in most games, e.g. "Marvel: Contest of Champions". Game runs smoothly about 40-60 fps before i finish one fight, then it locks to 30 fps. However, restarting the game returns smooth framerate, but only until i finish one fight. With some games i can't deal smoothly (60 fps) at all. How can i unlock fps? Why does it happens so?
Wanam Xposed is installed, DVFS is disabled.
Down below is my rom and screens from game. First pic is the moment when fps drops.

dvfs disabled not an good choice, it an eseential set up for cpu, it raise/lower cpu clocks based on temperature among many things.
You could burn your screen, phone with it disabled.
Example on note 3, with it disabled, cpu temp is 90C or more. With it ON, cpu temp is 75C.
now, unlocked fps, to raise fps on any phone, disabled all animation, then disabled with android tuner all games/apps that start at boot, then install an overclock kernel.
From 2.2ghz cpu to 2.7ghz cpu your frames will go higher.
also iq governor, like SIO could bump your frames.

Infos about GPU and CPU ?

Hey guys,
is there are app than can display me the current cpu and gpu clock
or some benchmark exspecially for the gpu ?
Since days im trying to get Dungeon Defenders running with 24+ frames but no chance.. ROM's only change 1-2 fps etc.
Nothing helps so now i'll look if my gpu speed is correct
THX =)
would be cool, if there's a widget that displays the clockspeed, and gpu speed, temperature at real time.
That game used to lag like hell til I installed lastupers SO 4.6.8 kernel. Its smooth now but still lags when there's a lot of action but its better then all the other kernels I've tried before.

Thermal Throttling... Let's talk about it

Please, after reading my post, don't blame me or suggest things like "mobile devices aren't meant to play or aren't meant to replace pc", I'm not looking for surrender, I'm looking for advices or proposals.
Several times I've noticed Thermal Throttling (from now TT ) effects on our device, because during high-resource-demanding apps, for example Real Racing 3 (but everyone can have his own high-resource-demanding app example), TT decreases cpu frequencies (maybe gpu too?) when it reaches a certain temperature, causing framerate drop. With cool-phone RR3 has superb framerate, but when phone becomes hot (after 6-7 minutes), there's a noticeable framerate drop caused by TT. You can notice this just by watching at asphalt flow under the car or how trees move in the environment.
This is normal, TT is normal and good beacuse it prevents high-temp damage, "but" I think that LG (or qualcomm or android) has implemented this function in a wrong way, not optimal. If this effect is so significant, it means that cpu frequencies cut is too much! I think it cuts in "half" cpu frequency, but it's a very conservative behaviuor, it's too much! If we consider another device, for example 4-cores clocked at 1,2 GHz, this device won't have 50 fps as G2 (in first minutes), maybe it will have 40 fps all the time, but it won't throttle down; G2 instead will throttle down and framerate will drop to 25 fps, which is not optimal, until it will cool (when stop playing, because it won't cool during playing). If these two devices were two cars, slower car would be the fastest because it will be constant and have best lap times.
First of all, there's a "normal" hardware problem that involves cooling and this problem can't be faced. But it's a software problem too, in the way TT is tuned; TT setting is what we shall deal with.
How can we achive this? There are several ideas:
1) Reading through forums I read about two possibile secret menu settings (3845#*802# ... 802 is phone model):
a) Thermal mitigation daemon off: this value should affect screen light dimming to lower temp, but it's not something that can slow down fps;
I tried it but my phone rebooted after 5 minutes playing and went into bootloop...
b) High temperature priority off: this value should affect TT temperature start treshold, for example increasing it from 60°C to 70°C, that is still a safe (internal) temp; I noticed a decreased TT effect, but it doesn't disappear. It simply happens after more time (for example after 10 minutes instead of 5). It's not a ultimate solution;
2a) Lowering max cpu freq to a value that prevents reaching TT treshold; but it depends also on environment temp, we should make too much tries; can someone say what max cpu freq to set? Obviously not to low... if 1.8 GHz it's good, if 1.4 GHz it will be better sell G2 and buy a less hardware performant nexus 4, but in real life better in performance than G2 because N4 can be less affected by TT;
2b) Lowering voltages, same as 2a), it's very difficult and we won't be sure to solve the problem;
3) There are several system files ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472318&page=43 ) that can be involved in TT tuning... Very difficult to achieve...
4) If TT can be tuned by kernel, a custom kernel with better TT tuning... hoping in a dev. (I think this would be the best solution).
What do you think about?

Do you mean this "Support Inteli CPU Temp control (by @faux123)" in "whats inside"? Is this what I'm looking for in 4)?

You have to test. But almost all custom kernels are pretty much tweakable to your loving. Anyway depends on which device and Android version you are. Check carefully that you are not with a brick in the end.

Well all I'm gonna say is I'm a huge gamer, I own multiple consoles and am into pc gaming and I've been doing some gaming on my g2 and here is a list of games I play gta 3/San Andreas, dungeon Hunter and I play psp games and most demanding of all I play dolphin emulator (GameCube games) and out of all the them the only one I can't play for more than 35 mins is dolphin because it's too cpu intensive(after 40mins fps goes down and at about an hour the phone might reboot itself it's happened before) and my phone is all stock(because dorimanx kk kernel is not completely stable yet)

I tried 2 kernels:
1) Dorimanx 4.4: too much options to set... with default installation G2 is slower in antutu and in gaming...
2) Simple Kernel V5 (No Oc version): wonderful with default installation, phone becomes a little bit hotter than custom kernel, but no TT! Very Good! Also, I can revert "High Temperature Priority OFF" to its default setting (OFF): phone becomes slightly cooler and TT becomes barely noticeable. TT can be still considered solved, with temperature and battery benefits.

{help}All games and benchmarks locked at 30 fps .

Hello
I have recently bought nvidia tegra note 7 and updated it almost immediately to lollipop(5.1). But now all the games that i have played or the benchmarks tested seemed to be stuck at 30 fps max. Have rooted this device and
i have recorded the fps using gamebench .
games include nova 3 ,real boxing and even glow hockey doesnt seem to go above the 30 fps mark.
benchmarks like quadrant and antutu also gives 30 fps locked on graphics benchmarks.
I have tried to set this on max performance mode from that hidden settings(using activity launcher) but still no improvement.
is there a workaround for this
thanks in advance
I am running 5.1. I'm not sure if I'm locked to 30 fps. I don't think I am....
I don't think the hidden performance settings work on TN7. I think they only work for Shield Tablet.
Have you tried a full wipe? I'd also go into recovery and wipe there. 5.1 is quirky and you want to be sure you completely wiped the data and cache partitions.
Otherwise you could revert to 4.4. The performance settings definitely work on it.

Simple kernel tweak to increase performance in 3D games and CPU Intensive emulators.

For must of you rooters, that pretty plain simple, for other that might eliminate unexplained lags.
You MUST root the device, after rooting install either Arter97 or Skyhigh kernel that is highly suggested, also appreciate their hard work on the kernels
Then install kernel auditor or synapse in order to gain access to governor settings and change from interactive to Performance.
Interactive does not scale between A57 and A53 cores properly when needed by heavy 3D games(not all) and by heavy cpu emulators or games, i tested it on tekken 6 via ppsspp emulator and angry birds 2.
Before that, AB2 worked with lags here and now, and Tekken 6 was laggy too, after the tweak Tekken 6 works perfect 60 fps and AB2 work with no single stutters, that also applies to certain marvel games.
Other thing that can help is to disable DVFS via xpose module, although i noticed that phone works better and more fluid with it's on.

Pubg mobile on S7 edge exynos 935f

Hello everyone. I have started playing pubg mobile on my s7 edge exynos version and the performance is soo bad. I get like 20fps and the game lags so badly even with around 100ms ping. Someone told me to root my phone and use gltools to optimize the game by setting fake gpu as adreno 630 would fix the frame lag issue. I did so but still there's no significant changes. I know my device might be pretty old for a game like this but i feel bad when i see a less config phone performs better than this. This is my only priority right now to play pubg smoothly. Is there any way i can make the performance better?
Thing that i have tried so far: game tools, performance mode, changing up the resolutions, editing UserCustom.ini with loads of codes provided in various youtubers, turned on 4x MSAA but nothing could give the smooth 60fps gameplay.*
As i am noob about all the kernel thing and overclocking gpu or cpu, will anyone be kind enough to give me a proper solution for better gaming experience? Thanks.
Nah. It should play fine. I'm thinking you should look into connection latency as well. Even a high end gaming rig PC would stutter on PUBG at 20FPS if internet connrction latency is bad. Latency has nothing to do with internet speed. Even if your speed is high, but the connection between your phone and the server goes through a lot of hoops like VPNs, ISP rerouting, etc, latency will be wacky.
There's also the issue of battery age. The phone is about 2yrs old. The battery may have aged and is full of dendrites so it's not giving max power anymore. So even if you set it ti max performance, the battery may not be giving enough power to play it fully.

Would changing the battery help? And i am from Bangladesh, and whichever connection i use, it never goes below 100ms.
100ms latency for a shooting game is pretty bad IMO. Could spell life and death.
Changing the battery will help only if the battery is part of the problem. Right now I don't know for sure.

Use pubg gfx tool from play store
Man, i play pubg in high quality with no lag.
First, install tgp rom with tgp kernel in these advanced settings:
Big: interactive. 2184ghz max/728ghz min.
Little: interactive. 1586ghz max/422ghz min.
Fiops/fiops/bic.
Then install PUBG ANTI LAG and set: graphics balanced - style classic - resolution 1280x720 - fps 60 - shadows disabled - antialising disabled. And set the config.

Same for me, lags, bad fps, 30 or below. settings fake gpu to 630 might bump up graphics settings and cause more lag. so dont do that.

Just a little underclock, but you dont have to do that. I just did because pubg heats my phone. I forgot to say to install game tunner and disable game launcher

60fps, game tunner is very good
Yeah I forgot to mention game tuner. It's the tool to properly adjust resolution, fps, and performance allocation on Samsung ROMs.

I had the same problem with my samsung g9350 but I finally fixed it.
Game tuner , Put HW Performance to +3, +4 would drain too much of your battery, this would make sure that your phone is getting enough GPU, frame rate limit to 60 fps, resolution is 75% while im using HD Resolution on game mode just for the Game tools, I haven't tried increasing the resolution yet, im fine with HD for battery purposes.
I have Govtuner set on battery mode, L Speed on Battery Mode, This is just to counter the heating issues caused by HW Performance.
GL tools so I can use MSA 16x, force 16bit rendering, Optimize GLSL Shaders and of course FPS counter.
Firefds Kit from Xposed just so I could disable Touchwiz DVFS. <== This right here is the cause of our problems.
When I play solo or duo, i get 60 fps, since you faked your GPU, you can use Extreme Settings in pubgmobile which limits the cap to 60.
And I just adjust accordingly, like when I play team, sometimes my fps wouldn't reach 60, I lower it to Ultra(40 fps max) or high(30 fps max).
on 80 battery, i get like 4, 20-30 mins games, the device doesn't heat up and is smooth. Hope it helps, I was just like you once, doing everything just to have fun playing Pubg mobile.
Hello. All I can say is that the gpu exynos is not good for the game I have the Qualcomm version and without any change or third application I easily get the 28 fps with the default settings.
Hello bro
I use a tgbkernel and i get awesome performance in samsung galaxy s7 edge exynos, i m playing pubg seance season 6 and i m happie for my phone ?dost use useless apps in phone thank You
Hi bro if you still using the device, how much FPS you get after the new update. Do you use GFXTool?

100ms latency is ok IMO. If you're a good gamer, you could get away with even 200-300ms latency.
