Difference between CSC versions? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any difference in using a csc from a different country? i am using alexandars rom and it has a pelothra of cscs and i am not sure about advantages/disadvantages of some countries over others.

Usually if you don't have any problems with language and some features of your ROM, I wouldn't worry about messing with the CSC files. Most parameters are universal.
But here is a quick overview and a fun read to spice things up on the CSC topic

Can we flash other country firmware on my wave 1?

I have Wave 1, S8500. I wonder is it safe to flash other country to my phone? Mine is Malaysia, with Bada 1.0.
I want to upgrade to Bada 1.2 using this S8500DXKF1/S8500OLBKD1,Singapore(Singtel) which can get from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=2&m=GT-S8500&r=2
And flash it offline using this guide: http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...s8500-wave-firmware&catid=57:how-to&Itemid=84
I hope it's a correct way.
The files from here: http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...15:samsung-flashes&catid=55:samsung&Itemid=82
Seem very confusing. Too many to choose and don't know if it cross country compatible or not.
I'd say yes simply because I'm using non-Philippine firmware on my phone
Firmware's are usually varied by region. I believe this is mainly because of the languages included. For special releases such as those from carriers, it may cause your device to lock on to those carriers. I'm not sure, I've never tried.
Most importantly, since this device is quad-band, you should have no issues with the radio firmware.
If anyone could give me link to XME firmware?

Differences between Official ROMS

I have read a lot of the GN threads and have searched but cannot find an answer to the following .
We are starting to see the appearance of several different OPEN European ROMS ( Germany, Austria, Netherlands).
1 : Each of these ROMS uses different CSC codes.
2 : The ROMS may or may not include different languages.
Apart from the two points that I have mentioned what other differences are to be fond amongst the various OPEN ROMS.
Is there any real advantage to selecting the ROM that corresponds to your CSC code.
For info : I have a Swiss CSC ( AUT) and have been using the Open German ( LPY) ROM without any problems. I wont Root or Full Wipe until I have the official AUT ROM, just in case......

Which CSC to suit Optus Australia for ROMS from different country

Hi everyone,
I'm a little stumped by the CSC. I'm in australia, on Optus. As far as I can make out my CSC is OPS. I've flashed Omega which defaults on BTU. I can't find an appropriate code using the included CSC changer app. Question is twofold: Is one of the CSC Codes on the csc changer app appropriate for Optus Oz?; does the csc make that much of a difference anyway? I haven't had a thorough test of battery yet... signal seems a little worse than stock, but this might be some sort of anti-placebo effect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike

Basebands

Hello,
as I am completely new to Samsung, I have got a question regarding the different basebands.
My S4 is running XXUAME2. New custom Roms are using different versions (for example XXUBMF4). and what is a CSC?
I couldn't find information if it is important to stay at the same baseband version, wher the differences between the basebands ar.
Can anybody please explain me?
Thank you!

Basebands are the same as the radio. They can improve your signal, and i some cases even affect other things like camera quality.
Newer basebands are nearly always better.
CSC is country code and you should try to find a code with your country
makhakz correct me if im wrong but csc's and modems are two different things altogether. my advice would be to leave csc alone as its allready set for you and just flash a different modem.
some modems may increase speed and connectivity others may improve these.
its a case of trial and error really as to which one works best for you

Country code doesn't matter anymore?

Hi,
I noticed recently that the Galaxy S10(+) and its firmwares are quite similar, if not coming from a network operator.
To illustrate this, I would say for example BTU which is stock UK has the same PDA and CSC numbers than French stock XEF.
How is this possible?
What's more, the phone seems to automatically know which code to use — after flash it will display on the 'About' tab the code related to your country, independently from what country-related S10 firmware you decided to download.
It can't be fooled anymore because as far as I remember you could flash other firmwares with different country codes so that you would sometimes get updates faster.
Or I might be just wrong.
@ThomasM6
Regardless of the branding, the available network bands are similar, if not exact, through Europe, Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and Oceania so that a one size fits all approach works on a hardware-level.
This same methodology is in place when it comes to firmware.
To an extent.
To demonstrate my point, I've attached a file called 'product.map' which I've extracted.
(I had to rename it to 'product.txt')
Inside that file you will see almost every major telecom company across EMEA and APAC listed.
It is using this file, alongside a combination of .info. txt., .dat, .xml and others across the operating system, to isolate the Carrier based on the SIM card inserted.
If it does NOT locate the appropriate telecom, it defaults to native country where it was intended to be sold.

A number of users have stated the software now matches the SIM's CSC so flashing the device is no longer necessary.
Some are still having trouble selecting the correct active CSC in a multi CSC firmware
