There is no way to reset G3 by holding down power button, sadly. I miss this feature from my s3...

Dunno. It's broken in latest KK firmwares and not present in lollipop => LG discontinued it.

I saw a thread on this for the Vibrant but that method doesn't seem to work for the Fascinate.
On the G1 you could hold down the call+Menu+hangup and it would reboot.
On the Vibrant you apparently can hold the power button down for 10+ seconds and it reboots.
Anyone know what it is for the Fascinate?
if it takes 10+ seconds to reboot wouldn't it just be faster to turn it off then back on?
well if your phone freezes it's much easier to hit a combo of buttons instead of pulling the battery. and if it freezes u wouldn't be able to reboot normally. plus it's much quicker when you're installing roms as it's an instant reboot and doesn't have to kill everything

if it freezes whats to say the button combo would work either? seems like if the normal shutdown and boot up isnt working your best real option is to remove the battery.
why the hell don't we have a reboot option when we hold the power button down?
Is there a way to add that?

On the G1 if it froze, the button combo did a reset. No need to pull battery I liked that feature a lot.
When I used to have my BlackBerry there was a key combo to reset it. Wish my Fascinate had one too. Then again, I dont usually have to reset my Fascinate as often as I did my BB.
This is driving me crazy...
If I am in any app and press the home button it takes at least 3 seconds to go back to the home screen.
It can be fixed with a restart but it starts happening again?!?!
something is wrong with your phone. Factory reset it and see if it still lag.
Tested and no lag takes about 1 second .

I was having this problem as well. A restart fixed it though. But the restart reset all the configurations I had made to the app draw. The folders were okay, but there were no icons in any folder. I will post if it comes back again.
i had the exact same problem yesterday too - a reboot fixed it too.
will also post if it happens again ...

+1 less than a second. Have no problems our lags whatsoever.
Are you using Touchwiz? or using done 3rd party launcher?
I suggest you first format sd then go into recovery mode (press home button + vol up + power button together until reboot) and clear cache and factory reset <<- this is what I did from the moment if purchase!!
I had lag too when trying to return to home screen by pressing the home button. I reboot my phone and the lag is reduced by not entirely gone...still takes approx 1 second for it to change.
But after I reboot my phone, I noticed the TW App drawer is messed up. I had a "Games" folder created before...but that folder got filled with other apps instead after reboot.

This is due to the double click feature of the home button. Since a double click launches voice control mode the phone needs to wait and check whether there's a second click. Rather annoying IMO.

Ah thanx !
That definitely makes a lot of sense, since I noticed hitting back button to go to the homescreen is much faster (but of course doesn't always work). I was pretty sure the delay was intentional but couldn't find a reason why they would do that.
I hope the delay can be removed later on for people like me who never use voice input.
Does disabling VoiceInput solve this issue for anyone?
IIRC is there an option in the settings...
Upz!
Guys.. ya still having problems on this one? I just got my phone last week and I must say the lag is horrible as compared to SGS1. Even the power button takes time to wake up the device. 1 sec is kinda actually if you compare it with other phones...
Was hoping if someone has found a solution..
I just checked my phone without these problems, you may do a factory reset and try it again
In my opinion the suggestion about the bundled Voice Talk app from Vlingo over here makes sense:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13905528&postcount=8
I did try to eliminate this by freezing Voice Talk in Titanium and rebooting, but did not see a fix in behaviour. Had tried LauncherPro for sometime but saw the same behaviour. Maybe will post this in one of the ROM threads.

Could you post your firmware? Thanks.
It's either the voice command, screenshot, or a combination of both causing this. I would assume there's a delay so that it can detect a second home press to activate voice command, or a delay to see if the power button is pressed to take a screenshot.
And yes I find it extremely annoying and hope someone can find a fix =(
If its to do with the voice talk double tap you can disable this in the settings. Disabled it on my phone and it seems ok but need to test it out properly. I'm running KF2 by the way.
I've found that whenever i install a lockscreen replacement the phones exhibits home button lag. But when i return to stock lockscreen, the lag is gone, and the home button works just fine.

I have been running CM7 on my Nook Color successfully for about 6 months now, but there is an ongoing issue that drives me nuts. Any help is appreciated. The problem is that, occasionally (about 4-5 times a week), the Nook will go to screen timeout and then not be able to come back out with any combination of buttons. The "n" button, power button, volume buttons, etc. all have absolutely no effect whether you press and release or hold down. The only way to get things back is to hold down the power button for 8-10 seconds and release...then hold the power button down again until the screen flashes and the green Cyanogen logo comes up. This, to me, is forcing it to shut down and then rebooting, though I can't see what's going on onscreen until the reboot. Then it will boot normally and work like normal......until the next blackout.
This happens even if the battery meter is fully charged, mid-way, or getting low...makes no difference. It will also happen no matter what the screen was when it timed out (home screen, app screen, etc.). Any ideas?

This is Sleep of Death (SOD). Well known issue. It happens when you have wifi set to stay on all the time. When the screen turns off and the nook goes into deep sleep, sometimes wifi and deep sleep get tangled up and you can't turn the screen back on. Only solution is to change your wifi setting or get a patched wifi module and flash that to your system. If you want a link to that patched file just ask and I will post it.
Edit: here it is:

Thanks for the solution
I guess I wasn't using the magic keywords to find the problem online. Thank you so much for the solution and link.
@leapinlar: Do we know if that fix will work with mrg666's new kernel?
It still reports 2.6.32.9 in about tablet but I was under the impression that was because he was too tired to change it that night.
In my case I'm just happy to set wifi to turn off when the screen turns off, (I hate, hate, double hate, loath entirely when a device I've put to sleep trys to get my attention).

The patch only works on 2.6.32.9 kernels. I don't know anything about his new kernel. Just backup your existing twlan_drv.ko in /system/lib/module by renaming it .bak before flashing, and if it does not work restore your backup.

Yeah, I did that last night and didn't get an SOD but that really doesn't tell us much. I'll try to remember to take this over to his thread.

Well, if you flashed it and wifi still works, it is compatible. On the CM9 kernel, it worked on .9 kernel until they updated to .59 and then if you used the patch, wifi quit working.
the phone surely had more than 90% battery.
received a call like an hour back.
the phone does not turn on now.
If plugging it in and resetting it doesn't work, then you need to put your SIM card in to a different phone and start up the RMA process.

Thank You. Its working now.
What did you do to get it working again? And are you rooted and/or on a custom kernel?
thanks!
You have to hold in the power button for a longer than normal time to get it to reboot. Usually about 10 seconds should do it to get it to reboot. Any device without a removable battery, like the Samsung Galaxy Tabs, work the same way.

You should only have to hold in the power button but whatever works is good.
It was probably still turned on but frozen in a bad state - you might have a misbehaving app that you need to look in to. Glad it started working again!

Can you explain more about this? Over the weekend my phone freezes while sleeping and would not wake up, had to reboot every time. I just want to know if this is because of apps or the phone itself.
I did however, uninstalled Nova Launcher, and haven't experience anything since then. Can anyone confirm that it is the apps and not the phone?

Okay so I just discovered an issue with my power button.
I tried to take a screenshot but it just won't work anymore. Volume down + power just locks the phone.
Holding down just the power button locks the phone too. I don't get the extended power menu (for reboot, silence/vibrate etc)
Any idea what could be wrong? All this just happened randomly.
I'm still on stock, unrooted, 4.3
I don't want to root/flash it, and I'd prefer not to do a factory reset (backing up and restoring data is annoying) unless there's no other option.
you could download a third party app. Did you press them both together and with equal force? Did you try to reboot it?

I can't reboot it (without a third party app) because I don't get the extended power menu.
I'm a little scared to try a third party app in case it switches off the phone but doesn't switch it on. Then, with my power button not working, I'll be stuck with a paperweight.
I tried pressing them with equal force.
Could be a software glitch? Sometime my volume buttons stops working. After reboot the issue goes away. I am using PA rom 4.3.
Are you rooted? Using custom rom or stock? If rooted, download quick boot (reboot) by sirius applications limited from playstore. It let's you reboot your phone without using power button.

FIXED :
I think it was a software issue.
I held down the power button for 25 seconds or so and that rebooted the phone and now everything's fine.
Thanks guys!
For my part, I don't know what starts the issue. But I can't get the extended power menu with plane mode, silence and co AND turn off the phone either.
I have to do a hard reboot as well and it works again after turning on the phone. But after a while, all starts again and the only one solution is hard reboot!
If you have the same issue as I do, it will happen again... Sorry !
