Hello everyone,
Just soft rooted my Wildfire using Martin's 1-click soft root app, brilliant work by the way! From being a complete newbie to android I'm learning more and more as I go.
Testing root privileges with terminal emulator seems positive, so I tried installing and running titanium backup. i gave it root privileges no problem, but now it says I need to install busybox. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Anyone else had to do this recently? I did the soft root using dropbox and installing the apk's so have no adb experience!
Any help would be much appreciated

Really?! Brilliant thanks, just done it. Was expecting some long and complex solution! Cheers for the fast response as well
Hi
Chris and chips did you notice any performance increase after installing busybox ?
-dan
Nope. But the phone is a bit more useful now.
hi everybodye sorry for the question but im new on this, well i have a htc hd2 from tmobile, i install android nand, following directions of a forum from here, everything is working good, i install setcpu from market and it do not let me configure it,so i install root check and it said is NOT rooted, my question is how can i root my phone,, please help.. thanx a lot and sorry if my question is stupid for some of you guys
As long as you have hspl you should be rooted. I would check to make sure you have setcpu superuser permission
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
thanx so much for you answer and not make fun of me, well yes i installed hspl3, and when it done it said we hack it, but root checker still say, sorry you dont have root access can you please tell me how to check superuser permission, thanx so much,,
Look in your app tray and see if you have a Superuser icon. If you do then ckick in it and then find where it says allow superuser access. Most Andriod ROMs for tbe HD2 are already rooted when you install them. If you do not have a Superuser icon then Google "z4root" it is a one click root app that works. You will have to dowmload it unzip/extract the apk and copy it to your SD card and then use a file manager to navigate to the apk file and open it this will install the app to your phone. This is also what is known as "sideloading" in Andriod. Open the app and click on Root now button and it will root your phone.
Using a cpu overclock app has a downside as well as the upside of a faster response when in use.
The downside is that when downclocked and idle, the phone can take a couple of seconds to clock up to the operating speeds required - on some roms its more noticable than others. but a good solid ROM does not need this boost and there a few on here
please help
im having exactly the same problem doing my head in ,i installed a nand gingerbread rom that is faultless it cracked it and gave me a super user icon however the superuser never opens and when i install certain programmes they need root access and its saying my phone is not rooted ive checked with a rooting app and it says no root ive tried several methods that has not worked ie superoneclick gingerbreak nothing seems to work

The SuperUser app itself doesn't do all that much, it shows you what apps have superuser access. Until you download an app that requires root, and allow root for that app - your SuperUser app will remain a blank list. Once you do allow root for a few apps, you can go back to SU and see the list of apps w/ root access.
It sounds like you want to know of some good apps that require su access.?

In addition to installing Chainfire3D Pro to play Tegra games after you root, what else do you do?
How do you make the Note perform at its optimal level?
Is there any other things that you do after you ROOT your Note?
Oh by the way, how do you know that you have root your Note? Is there anyway to verify it?

My common sense is telling me that after you root you will have superuser icon in the app menu if not there is no superuser

download terminal monitor and run 'su', then 'id'.
If you have root permissions then id will show you are root.
I rooted so I can run droidwall (an android firewall, imho a MUST HAVE to block rogue apps), setcpu, and titanium backup.

Think you actually need to flash a new ROM in order to change the battery, even ROM Toolbox won't be able to do the trick.
I rooted so that I could run Titanium Backup. Without root TB would not function other than to say root was required..
Another reason I would root is to install some Anti-Theft software like Cerberus so that it remains in phone even after factory reset and I can track my phone incase it is lost.
restore apps by TB from GS2~~ delete/frozen useless apps from ROM by RE~~

Hello to everyone,
I own a Galaxy S5 G900F, (Unlocked Variant).
I have downloaded and installed LOLLIPOP AMBASADII.ODEX.V6.1 ROM with Aroma Installer and I am using Amplitude Kernel.
The rom came pre-rooted, with SuperSU Installed. I Only updated the app from the PlayStore. The program DID NOT prompt me for Binaries Update. I also have BusyBox installed.
When I check the root status with Root Checker, it says Success, which means there is root permission. Also, I checked it with Platinum Backup, and it also gives permission for root access. Finally, I downloaded a Root Browser, and that works fine as well.
The problem is with value-changing apps like game killer, game cih, haXplorer and game guardian. Although they prompt me to give permissions, and I chose "allow", none of them is able to work.
In game killer, it says "root privilage is needed"
In haXplorer, as soon as I open it is says "shutdown"
In game guardian, the program auto closes instantly.
All the above issues have to do with proper root Access.
So, how is it possible for programs like FX File Explorer (root), titanium (root), root checker and others to have root access, while others don't?
I would really like your answer on this, as I am trying for one week to solve this issue with no results.
Thank you.
Once you get root access, it is sytem wide, not by app.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah I know that, so what should be the problem?
Maybe you need an app to hide or cloak root status.
That such thing exists for Xposed framwork, but thus it is not comparible with 5.0 TW ROMs, you will have to downgrade back to 4.4.2 in order to use it.
