I have been using my Galaxy S5 with an OEM Wireless Charging Cover and Nokia Qi plate for many months now without any issues.
Recently, I installed an iOttie car mount that supports Wireless Charging. When using this car mount, I noticed that the Camera would not turn on. I get a popup error message that says the camera failed or that it can not connect to the camera. I then tested the camera while charging on my Nokia Qi plate and got the same error. The error occurs both with Samsung and Android camera apps.
I also made some other observations ...
-> If the back Camera is already running and I place the camera on the charging plate, it continues to operate.
-> If front facing camera was last used and the camera app was closed, after placing the phone of the charging plate, if I start the camera app it starts fine with an operating front camera but as soon as I switch to back camera, the error occurs
Based on these observations, it looks like the back camera is having issues initializing when the phone is being wirelessly charged. I would have never caught this issue because one would not try to the back camera when the phone is lying flat on a wireless plate but with the car mount, I tried to use the camera from within Waze app and when it did not work, it lead me to this entire discovery process. Did anyone else experience this issue? On one hand, I am hoping it not just my camera but on the other hand, if it is working fine for others, I will try to get a replacement.
You're not alone. I have the AT&T S5 and it does the same thing. Which really sucks as I tried to use it as a car cam to record bad driving habits and I can't. With the S5, wireless charging is the way to go so you don't have to keep opening and closing the charging connector flap. It is very annoying to me. Basically I believe the strong electromagnetic field generated by the charger coil is affecting the electronics of the camera. It's probably one place that is not properly shielded. I doubt you'll be able to find a wireless charger that doesn't interfere with the camera.

I'm on TELUS in Canada and have had the same problem. Has anyone determined if it's a software problem? I've been tempted to flash my phone to Cyanogenmod just because of this issue. It's a royal PITA and totally negates the reason I went with wireless charging in the first place.
Thanks,
Dan
I noticed the same issue when I tried using Autoboy Blackbox dash cam app and even Android Camera app while the device was charging wirelessly in iOttie wireless mount charger.
The workaround is to start the app before placing the device into the mount.

I'm having an issue when the Focus is charging. In this state, the lock screen will not slide up to give me access to the phone. Typically it will slide up about 1/4" only then comes back down.
Is there a setting for this or is this a feature ;-}
Anyone else having similar issues?
Problem Solved! See post 5.
I am able to unlock my phone while charging. Have you tried rebooting the phone and seeing if the problem persists after that?
Mine if fine and can lock/unlock/use while charging.
I can unlock, but I can't get into the settings menu at all when it's charging. I can do everything else, and get into settings in other ways if they're linked from a program, just not through the main interface while charging. It's very strange.
Problem Solved - Don't buy AT&T ZERO Charger Kit
Hi Everyone,
I found the problem causing my Focus to "pseudo Lock up" when charging.
As I was troubleshooting this problem, I first noticed my focus did not lockup when using a car charger or when plugged into my computer. This led me to consider why it was only happening when plugged into the wall. So, I tried a different charger, the one which came with my Focus, and there was no problem. Then I tried the charger that came with my Tilt 2, working fine there too.
So the problem is with the wall charger I was using. This charger is the AT&T ZERO Charger Kit. At this point, I am not sure if it the problem is with the individual charger or with the ZERO brand. I will be returning this charger tonight and at that time will ask them to allow me to try another one to see if the same problem manifests.
I will report back to let you all know.

I second this! I was using an LG charger with same specs as the charger that came with Focus. It charged it but wouldn't let me use a lot of features of the phone. The stock charger works fine, as I use it at work all day. Another day of streaming from Zune and Last.FM for 6-7 hours!
Do not buy the AT&T ZERO Charging Kit
Hi Everyone,
So I confirmed the AT&T ZERO Charging Kit does not work properly with the Samsung Focus.
I returned the wall charger I purchased and while at the store, we opened another unit and tried it and the problem replicated.
At this point, I do not know if the problem is limited to the Focus or is all Windows Phones. If anyone else has a ZERO wall charger, and a different phone, please let us know your findings.
Do not buy this device to use with a Focus as it is not compatible with the Focus.
Same problem here - AT&T Zero charger and Focus will not unlock when charging. When I take the cable out of the charging brick and plug the cable into a USB port on my computer the phone resumes charging AND unlocks just fine.
The iGo charger that I have works fine no lock screen issues.
On a separate note, my work exchange server mandates the lock screen, but unlike WinMo 6.x you can't set the time interval when the lock screen activates. I had mine at 24 hours of dormancy before it would activate. WP7 only allows you to keep the screen on longer. I hope they add some more options for this. I can't stand having to punch in the four digit code every time I use the phone.
I am using the stock charger and it slides up 1/4 of the way several times then it finally sides up. The touch is then slow to respond, but it eventually works again. Anyone else having this issue? I have tried this charger and an old Tilt 2 charger.
Review of AT&T Zero Charging Kit
There is a review of the AT&T ZERO Charging Kit at:
http://cwmcgowen.wordpress.com/2010/11/28/review-att-zero-charging-kit/
This is the same charging kit that was incompatible with my Samsung Focus.
I've recently to to fix my cellphone reception by opening my phone. After I performed the mod. My External speaker wifi and Camera no longer work.
Any idea where these connectors are so I can double check the connections?
Thanks!
My phone is also running much hotter than before.
One connector is on the back of the mother bored (the side facing the metal) and the other in front. Then check and make sure that you ribbon cable that connect from the camera to the mother bored are connected. One all the that is FULLY connected it should work again. I would show pictures but the ics rom doesnt have the camera working yet. But what it sounds like to me is the main ribbon cable that has the camera and speaker connected to it isnt plugged in correctly.
In a sample of 4 devices, 2 did not work with a Qi Charger.
I think I saw a post around here where someone took the back off and cleaned the contacts that connect the coil on the back cover to the battery charger and Qi started working for him. I've got a Qi charger on order from Hong Kong (which means it will sit in customs in New York for some unknown number of weeks before I get it). It will be interesting to see if it works on mine. I've already noticed that NFC is kind of spotty (which I think uses a similar antenna and contact system).
There is a thread about this. One person found that there was some gunk near the Qi connector pad when opening up the unit. Once they cleaned it off, Qi started working.
A couple of others repeated the process and it also got their Qi charging working.
However opening up your unit can be a little hit or miss on whether you crack the case as you need to wedge something thin in between the two halves and run it around until the tabs all separate.
I would just exchange it if Qi charging is important to you.
If you will probably never use it but have an otherwise good unit (no dead pixels, no abnormal backlight bleed, no multi-touch issues, etc.) then it might be a harder decision because you might pick up new problems in your efforts to resolve an issue you'll likely never use.
OK, so I know this is a bit of a Hail Mary, but...
I have been unable to get it to work. I've tried every position possible, even face down...
Does anyone have a Chevy with wireless charging working? Is there a setting in Chevy's software, or a switch somewhere?
Have you tried another phone on it and seen it work? If not doing that would eliminate the vehicle being the problem. Just a thought
I haven't tried any other phones, but my phone wirelessly charges fine on the Samsung Fast Charge puck and an Anker pad.
I have 2019 Tahoe Premier and the wireless charging is perfecto. I always charge my Note 8 on it. If you connect your phone through bluetooth to chevy Mylink, You can even see in the dashboard the charging status and the %age charge.
Just check that you keep you phone well seated in the space with screen facing up and there is no thick back cover on your phone.
Hope this helps. Let us know either way...
Hello!
Lately my S8 has had a mysterious issue to where the battery always reads as a low temperature and the phone, as such, refuses to charge and errors out to low temperature. Would the issue be the battery? Or is it a more board level issue? The phone, as it stands, functions perfectly fine and has no issues with anything else except charging. The phone also recognizes the charging cable fine. The phone is using the stock ROM, on OneUI 1.0 (I haven't had the time to root it yet)

Underneath the back glass is the wireless coil/ temp sensor. If it's not plugged in or damaged this will occur. If you've had your device apart for any reason check this. If you've dropped it it's still possible if this piece isn't the issue it's either in the port or deeper

I have attempted to charge it with the coil attached, without it attached, and with wireless charging. All have failed and gave the low temp error. The coil does indeed recognize that it needs to charge, however it errors out.

The temp sensor is built into the coil. It can be bad. I'd order the coil and try. They are separate parts so the wireless coil can still try to work but the temp sensor is stopping it. Seems to be a fairly common issue

Thanks! I've gone ahead and ordered a replacement coil. I will get back to you if this fixes the issue or not!
That or the stupid moisture sensor. Although that one would be more apparent despite its the most obnoxious and useless feature I have seen implemented into newer phones. I've had phones acquire a few drops of sweat or condensation in my car and that would prevent charging.
Replacing the wireless coil seems to have resolved the issue. It was kinda obvious considering I found damage to the previous coil.
