Hi all,
I posted this in the XDA general thread and got tons of PM from basically everyone except any Devs.
Since I'm a 1+ owner I'll post it in this section instead.
I'm a music producer that would like to take this challenge and compose some ringtones to be integrated in a ROM.
Just think about it; you will offer unique ringtones that reflects what your rom is all about.
I had some offers in the past that I had to decline, but now I'm available so hit me up if you want to add an extra feature to your project
If you want some samples and/or talk further, PM me or post here and we'll sort it :good:
And as everything else in this community, it's for free.
Regards,
Cham

Hey everyone, I'm one of those many thankful people who has a 'hacked' rom on their G1 (JF 1.5r2).
I love the fact that there are so many variations to suit the needs of individuals but like alot of other people I find it oh so difficult to keep up.
I know droiddeveloper.com is doing a great job of providing hosting and keeping the people up to date on the latest news. My question is: anyone interested in a more structure website? Where people not necessarily knee deep in the forums and actively participating can get some info on the ROMs; the good, bad and ugly. Maybe in a more hierarchical structure to make it a bit simpler.
If the rom devs or people with sufficient knowledge want to get something going pm me (i'll be happy to share my email through a pm) and maybe we can get something going. I've got no problem with paying for some hosting etc.
I've had the same idea for a while now, I can create the site for this, if enough people will be interested?
It would probably be somewhat of a tree, with phone models, then available base software versions, followed by the individual ROMs. The ROM's associated page would be maintained by the developer, or somebody designated to do so on behalf, but it could have room for user submitted reviews, questions, screenshots, etc.
A site for ROMs from all devs

wrong forum, go post this in general
No offence, but I'm not particularly fond of that guy's tabular layout.. My suggestion would give each ROM a page of details, features, screenshots, comments, contact details, etc.

If you or someone else wants to, fine by me, but I actually prefer a semi-standardized block view that merely spits out the raw data I may be looking to compare in a build.

Can a mod move it or should I just re-create it?
Just wait for someone to move it.
I'll draft up a design and overall layout for you tonight, dude, if you wanna go ahead with this?
Yeah definitely, I will check it out late tonight/early tomorrow.
In an effort to help cut our clutter down, this thread should be used for all general feature requests.
First request:
Use the other forums for non-develop related posts.
Second request:
Aosp ported to the eris.

^^ This ^^
A proper tutorial for changing splash1 - DONE
A proper tutorial for boot animations -- including all the ins and outs of image creation/format, programs that are used, and a more complete description of desc.text and how to use it.
I'm all for helping out on those as well pm if anyone would like to exchange info before creating a nicely formatted thread based how to. I'll prolly drop in to chat at some point when I get time too.
PS: I think we should start putting our how-to threads in the general section to avoid people posting randomness in the development section. Since at that point we should be doing minimal development anyway and development related conversation could still take place in the proper forum. Also this could be put in the general forum once people catch on.
All those in favor say Aye.
somebody please make a better dialer... It is the bane of my existence
aosp
Forgive my ignorance, but what is aosp?
theme development
now that we have root has anyone taken a shot at a skin for eris? maybe port some of the wicked cool stuff they have working on the hero side? tons of notification bars, clocks, rosie scrollers...and so much more...just excited to see where our devices can go.
To the devs, thanks for all your effort. For those who are impatient ect just know these guys n gals have work, school, families ect and all they do for us is on their own time...so that being said be courteous and thankful and most of all patient...development has to well...develope....

AOSP is the Android Open Source Project, which is the latest open version of Android, Codenamed Eclair at this time. Its roughly the same as Android 2.1 release.
My Requests
All HTC Widgets including the new ones from the desire/ legend (Friendstream, RSS Reader, Today in History etc.)
Re-skinned Sense Bottom Bar (Some Hero Roms have a rectangular one rather than the curved one we have)
Speed/ Battery Optimization
speech to text
A larger camcorder resolution would be nice, at least the resolution the phone runs in. Also an overclocked processor.
Could anyone see about Using Dialer One as the default dialer app? Like when you press "PHONE", Dialer One comes up instead? That would be great.
Good after noon all.
heh, talk about feeling nervous for a first post. well before I contiune, I do want to say thank you to the XDA community, you helped me get both my MyTouch 4G's rooted; Anyway on track with my question.
I am currently running the DemonSpeed Miui, and I have a them I've been working on a theme, I noticed alot of the MIUI themes especially the Lock Theme Thread seems to use other peoples themes/info.
My question is I know i have made/edited a them from ATLEAST 7 different authors, added custom wallpaper, etc the works. and I want to know, should I first contact all 7, or should I just post this.
It should be made further clear, that I am "not" discrediting any owners of the original works and further attempts to contact them will be made. I just want to seem like I am a "thief" saying hey this is mine, yatta yatta yatta.
I should also note this theme is also fairly....huge, coming in at a near 35 MB for a theme does seem a bit excessive but I wanted to create an all in one "Super Theme" and of course credit will be given where it is due.
Any advice would be appreciated, and thank you for your time.

I think you should contact all of them first just in case, and credit them all in your post obviously. For the most part, the devs here on xda don't seem to mind anyone modifying their work as long as their credited, but you should still contact them and let them know. There are some devs who WILL make you take down your work if you don't contact them and get an explicit yes/no response back from them.
So just to be safe, and to not risk a forced removal of your work, contact them all and wait for a response. It'll be worth the wait just to save yourself the potential trouble with mods and angry devs.
Alright, I noticed something in the wiki that I think should be fixed. The Epic 4g page is horrendously out of date: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SPH-D700 So I figured this will help get the page organized and updated. ROM Developers Post your already existing ROMs, as well as kernel dependencies and the Samsung build (Such as: EC05) they were built off of. Please Include whether or not they are OC/UC capable as well as UV/OV capable. Kernel Developers, please post your kernel Name and a link to the thread containing your kernel. Include what builds they are compatible with (ex: EC05)
DON'T FORGET VERSION NUMBERS
Please keep it to ONE KERNEL or ONE ROM per post.
FOR EVERYONE WHO POSTS KERNELS OR ROMS
Include special features and version numbers. Post all versions, one by one, to help the developers!
As this is a wiki page, anyone can help out by starting to update the lists
Thanks for your help!
Reserved for ROMS
Reserved for (more) ROMs
reseved for Kernels
There's a post in general that had most of what you ate asking for I can't engender if out has the eh17 stuff our not though. I believe the user name that posted out was Mr. Timm.
I do appreciate the effort though.

If the rom developers wont update the wiki, why would they take the time to post here? You'd be better off looking through the forum and putting it in their yourself
Nice thread but I don't think developers will update this.
Developers want to start their own threads and monitor how much traffic their threads receive. I guess this can help them with their development careers.
Sooo....
This was meant to get everyone caught up. there are so freaking many great ROMs in the dev forum for the epic 4g. Lots of these need testing and such to speed the actual developers along. The problem is, only a handful of the up to date ROM's and kernels are located where people can just look and find them lined up (the wiki). And If we have to search to find a thread, to find all of the other threads, its not working very efficiently, cutting out what was meant to do that in the first place. If you want a look to see how ours SHOULD look, but hasnt been updated to, just check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Supersonic/ROMs
in comparison to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SPH-D700-Community_ROMs
I just personally think that we can do better than we are over here in the epic 4g section, and maybe with all the ROMs listed together, we might get some more collaboration as our devs look up their friendly competition. I am just trying to help out in the small ways.
There's a thread that was created recently that's similar to the one you are trying to create.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215248
You can take info. from this thread to help yours, which could be awhole lot easier on your cause.

You think that using this info would help get this thread lit up? if people see what i have and try to complete my list? or is this hopeless. I REALLY wanna get this list expanded and maybe get all the stuff that is missing from ACS's Autoupdater filled in. because there is so much stuff missing. Which is reason number two for this thread.
---------- Post added at 06:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:58 PM ----------
on second thought, reading this post.... maybe I will Just beg ACS to start adding the stuff as downloadable in ACS.
Well in my opinion it's a lost cause. What would really help your thread if you included a review of each rom, kernel, theme, tweak, etc from well known testers (John Corleone). But that would be A LOT of work.
Umm. With the ACS updater a dev permission is needed for their work to be shared.
What XDA need is a working search button so when a subject relating to a topic is searched random ish is not brought up.
If you're trying to write an review for each Rom start a thread in the General section asking for a in depth review of Roms nd stuff on the wiki.

okay, you people have missed the point by miles. I do want this to get done, and it doesn't have to be the ACTUAL dev. anyway. i am soon to quit, and just use the ERA list that got linked to, and i will TRY to start updating the wiki. Even though most of you did not help me what so freaking ever, you still get thanks. because i am just in that kind of mood.
Hey and Hello Folks, it's been a while since my last Post on the Nexus 6 Forums...
Maybe there are some People left who remembers who i'am, but this isn't Important yet!
I'm just creating something new and get some help with it from a advanced Developer which is well known to some of You.
What i want now? I want a Team! Someone who helps me to stay cool if it gets hard. Someone who helps to create and test Things with Me...
I don't want to say what it is now (CopyCats everywhere), but i'm excited about it and it goes Cross Device Supporting in the Future if all goes right...
I'm searching specially for Themers and People which are advanced with Modifying ROMs or Sources...
A Name for this Project is already selected and the Plan is to follow My Plan. If You're interested and worthy to trust, i will tell You what i want to do and You can decide if You want to Join. But this here is TOP-SECRET and i want to Release it with a Big Bang and without any Public Infos before...
We can use the Thread if You want, but Infos about the Project get shared only over PM or Hangouts/Allo! Peace Y'all
Push
If you're still looking for someone, I might be interested. This reply is my first post on XDA in the longest time, but I used to be very involved in the ROM, kernel, and theme scene. I've also recently begun building apps. I know my way around the source code, and the Java and xml inside the apk's, so I know I could be of some help with the theming at the very least.
This kind of project may just be enough to pull me out of "retirement", so please, feel free to contact me if you'd like. You can PM me here, and we can set up a Hangouts chat or something.
