Hello ,
I am planning to buy a Galaxy Note 3 , and was reading some reviews about it , When I read too much complaints about the "'IndexService has stopped " problem ...The complaints were REALLY too much that it make me feel afraid to buy it and find the same problem .
So I am asking whether this problem still exist or it has been solved with updates or whatever ?
Also is there any other considerable issues with Galaxy Note 3 that may appear ?
Thanks in advance
I've never even heard of that

Thank you all for your help , this is good news for me .
I think it may have been a problem that have been solved later
I don't know whether I am allowed to post another forum links here , But besides other forums some people here were talking about it too in this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463788
and this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46229914
Also please tell me if there is any other considerable issues with it .
That error is usually caused by a corrupt file on the MicroSD card, or a folder with far too many mediafiles.
The first cause can be solved by simply scanning the SD card for 0kb files on a pc and deleting the images/songs/videos that come up.
The second is solved by dropping a .nomedia file in the folder, thus excluding it from the scanning process.
For instance, I have a folder with 80.000 files in it. (saved websites for writing research.) If I remove the .nomedia file from. It, indexservice crashes. (as does Gallery). And it causes a massive battery drain. Since I don't need it in my gallery or music player, I've put the nomedia file in and thus excluded the folder. Result: no error.
It's an android bug, not directly related to the Note 3. Don't worry about it, it doesn't happen very often.
As for other issues, I've never found any that a reset couldn't fix.

^ This. I've done far more tinkering with core system files and such than I should have, but about the only way you could ever do permanent damage is if you were to go messing with the partition system or NV data....

I will just echo the above users. Have never seen this error yet (using the phone for about four months) on this phone.
However I have heard about the error, as some user said earlier, it is related to external SD cards.
That error should be the last thing you should worry about if you are thinking about purchasing the Note 3.

The Desire HD has got to be the best phone I have ever had, however I have now lost six memory cards to it.
I am running on the 1.32 version, as I've not upgraded the firmware since hearing some of the horror stories. I'm running the stock rom, and I'm always very careful when connecting my phone to the PC or removing the memory card (I.e I always make sure I unmount it first, etc).
I'd lost five memory cards when they came up saying it had been unexpectedly removed. There didn't seem to be a pattern. I returned the phone and got a new one after the third card, since last night I've now lost another three the same way.
The strange thing is that my friend also bought the same phone, two months after me, and has had the same problem (although has only lost two so far).
Does anyone know what else might be causing this? Any software that might be causing it? I've noticed that one or two of them have died shortly after I've taken a picture or video (like last night, for example).
I have tried to restore the memory cards by trying them in a PC, but it won't even let me format them to start over again.
I love this phone to bits, but I can't keep losing memory cards like this. There must be some reason for it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Wow that is crazy! I've had the phone for around 3 and a half months and I'm still rocking the 8GB that came with the phone. If it's software related flashing a newer rom could fix it.
I would suggest a custom rom since I've been pretty much running LeeDroid a few weeks after I got the phone and recently switched to CM7 and I never had this issue.
Flashing is pretty much straight forward, the chances of bricking are ... well I haven't heard of someone bricking a DHD. If you just follow the steps it won't take long and if you don't
read up enough the worst that could happen is a headache
Also, what kind of sd cards were you using? Brand/Size/Class?
I lost my 8gb card which came with my DHD the other day too. That was my first loss since I got the phone in October last year. The card can't be read on any other device either.
If it is software related then I would like to know so I can try to do something about it.

What are you guys doing with the cards? Is this happen during normal usage with the card inside the phone? Or after removing the card from the phone and use it somewhere else?

Sounds like flashing a custom ROM might be an idea. I have used a mixture of Samsung and Sandisk cards, all have been 8GB.

With both me and my friend, the cards have been in the phone all the time. The only time I've tried to remove it was to see if I could recover the files on a PC.
Also, like I said, a few times it seems to have occurred after taking a video or picture. In fact the second time I had one die, it seemed to be one particular HD video causing it, and once I had deleted the file by going through the PC, the memory card worked fine again.

The same thing happened to me. (mp3 instead of video) Android seems to be pretty picky about corrupt or somehow malformed files I guess.
Sort of leaves me wondering where I go from here.
Even if I replace the memory card, I'm on edge the whole time as to whether it's just going to die on me again!
Where did you get the memory cards?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Most premium memory cards these days, come with 5yr minimum guarantee try returning one of your dead cards to the manufacturer and see what they say? Personally I have never had an issue with my card and had a DHD from november but I have run custom ROM's (mainly CM) since root was achieved.
Ive had the DHD since the first week of uk release, im 3 cards down myself
No dead SD Cards here.
2 months on stock, 4 on custom roms

Same until the card died in my phone it has never been taken out by me, it arrived with the card in the phone on arrival and till last week its stayed there.
I have no idea what went wrong, I went to sleep after using it the night before. I woke up and the phone was sat at the sim pin prompt (so obviously failed in some form over night) when I checked my SMS later in the day they were all gone so I tried to restore from SMS Restore and it failed to find the file on the SD card. When I looked into it more I realised the card was dead.
Tried it on my laptop and work PC, AND my HD Camcorder and it does not register in any of them, its as if the controller on board the card has died rather than it corrupting the data on it.
Cant say I am impressed at the moment, I have the notification bug for SMS, it keeps removing the SMS database, failed to lock onto WiFi in some occasions unless I disable then enable wifi, and now its destroyed a microSD card. Think I shall be off back to an iphone next.
Hi
Have any of you having SD Problems, tried booting to Recovery> Fix Permissions, or used Rom Manager> Fix Permissions.

Had mine for 5 month now, and still using the original SD. No problems.
Mine has now chewed through two memory cards however I have come to expect random things from my desire

I've had my memory cards from various places. I had the one that came with the original handset, and then when I had my phone replaced HTC gave me another one with it.
Since then I've also purchased the rest from stores, and even two of them were the more expensive higher quality ones. All gone.
I have noticed this morning that I am able to access the card through my PC. The first three times I put it in, I got a message saying that it couldn't access it, and would need to format it. The fourth time I put it in, it's opened everything as normal. When I put it back in my phone, it comes up preparing SD card, and then a few seconds later says it's unexpectedly removed again.
Those that haven't had card issues, are you running a custom rom? If so, what do you think the best choice would be, and would it affect the normal day to day operation with things like use of the Android Market, etc?
My phone is stock and no customization.
Not sure what the correct route would be as the cards have been destroyed by our devices so would this be covered under card warranty?

Does anyone know what do I need to do to get my phone working?
Thanks
A friend of mine has the same problem, Im pretty sure thats a hardware issue already. !

I'm pretty sure this is a hardware issue... I have been having this problem myself, and have tried flashing many of ROM and Radio's since it has reared it's ugly head - all to no avail. The WiFi an Bluetooth do share the same Broadcom chip... maybe there's enough of us experiencing the problem that we can collaboratively order a dozen of these things (they only seem to sell in bulk).
Had the same issue, ATT had to replace the phone.
Any more news on this issue?
Same thing happened to my Atrix last week (Bell, 2.3.6, locked bootloader, unrooted).
Same here
Same problem on my original Atrix, which was replaced under warranty by AT&T six months ago. Recently my replacement Atrix has been having the same problem. Wifi won't enable and frequent reboots.
Although the phone should still be under the 1-year warranty, AT&T refuses to honor it because the screen is cracked (so much for Gorilla glass).
After getting two phones with the same problem, and hearing about countless others having the same problem, and getting screwed out of the warranty, this is definitely my last Motorola phone.
EDIT:
The "fix" that was originally posted here doesn't actually work. I'm almost certain that this is a hardware problem. As of now there is no software fix, if one even exists.
Check this thread for more info:
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/0c2f1387d6
I recommend that you post to acknowledge you have the same problem.
i tried the script and it tells me "oops... did NOT find wpa_supplicant.conf! any help?

I found a permanent solution to the problem. It was probably more obvious than I originally thought it would be. This is probably what will fix it if you recently ran some sort of 3G tweak as it probably damaged/corrupted /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf. Before I get started with what what problems my phone was having:
-'Wifi Error' message when enabled
-Random reboots when trying to enable wifi
-Bluetooth worked fine (and if you are having issues with bluetooth it may be due to a similar bluetooth related file having problems)
-Impossible to fix by flashing new roms, wiping/factory reset, and virtually every other possible thing I tried
So, just before giving up, I found something called 3Gturbocharger--which can be downloaded from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021 REMEMBER: IT'S 3GTURBOCHARGER, NOT ANY OF THE OTHER SIMILARLY NAMED FILES.
Now, the value of the script isn't really in the "tweaks" it provides, but rather the easy way it provides to reset the file of interest (/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf). Run the script using "script manager" as root, once you've done this you'll be able to run a feature within the script called Wi-fixer. Run it and reboot. The problems should all be corrected. You could also try to manually navigate to 'data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf' and simply rename it to whatever you want (as the script does), at which point the old file will be replaced by a newly generated one.
I'm assuming that in your case the bluetooth equivalent of "wpa_supplicant.conf" was corrupted. Possibly /data/misc/bluetooth/dynamic_auto_pairing.conf or /data/misc/bluetooth/incoming_connection.conf. Worth a shot trying the method I described on those files as well. Try it out, you've got nothing to lose.

im getting that to
My Atrix wifi stopped working in the past, but started working again. It currently stopped working once more, giving me an Error if I turn it on. The Bluetooth has never had issues and still works, I am a month past warranty but with unlocked BL it doesn't matter anyway. This seems to be a slight issue with these phones unfortunately.
I could live with the phone without wifi, but the constant reboots are unavoidable. I notice that when I originally boot the phone, if I use it and keep the screen on it works, but as soon as I turn the screen off, it reboots. Odd to me.
Ya I have the Bell Atrix myself and I'm still on Froyo because of complaints of GB. (especially battery life) Maybe I'll do ICS, but I'll wait for some reviews since its not that easy to go backwards as say my OG SGS...

Anyone try doing this manually? I can't locate the file.
wpa_supplicant file
hi, the file is in etc/wifi and the bluetooth file is in etc/bluetooth/ i renamed the .conf files but this don't solved the problem.
First I have been trying to use search before this post but is unable to work, and after spending few hours in google trying to find a similar situation, finally decided to come here and ask if someone have experienced something similar, my device Galaxy S4 I9500 after yesterday every sound started to heard like the chipmunks, songs, voice notes even notifications, and can't find what caused this.
Please bring some light what needs to be corrected in order to fin all the sounds in my s4, thank you all.
Did you root your phone? Or modify some files that may have caused this? If not, then it may be hardware problems

Yes my device is rooted but I didn't modify any file system yet related with sounds.

Maybe some app you installed recently messed up your phone. I don't think is a hardware problem.
Try a factory reset and clear cache from recovery.
I've been having this issue since I got the phone. When I make a new folder in the drawer and fill it with apps and then reboot the phone, the folder will only have a few or none of the apps I put in it. So I put put the apps back in the folder and continue on my day and after a few cycles of this the folder somehow retains memory of what apps it had and stops resetting. But it's gotten a little annoying 'cause I'm orderly.
Anybody know how to fix this or what's causing it?
I have no other issues with the phone, and it's not even that big of a deal. But it's too bad that my experience with the phone is so close to perfect aside from this little glitch.
Thanks.
i had the same issue and it thru off my ocd LOL.. so im monitoring it atm
Was there ever a solution to this? I'm having the same issue on a Note 3 running v 4.3. If found it asked a couple times quite a while ago, but I haven't found a thread with a solution.

Exact same situation. I've experienced it both on stock and hyper drive roms. I am still having an issue finding the solution. Any news?
I'm having this problem with my white N9005 device, it's making this annoying lags/hangs whenever im using it. It's like something is updating on the background. It will hang for 2-3secs then go back to what it's doing.
For example, messaging, whenever im typing something it will stop but i can still press the letter but won't show up in the screen, after said lag the letter that i pressed during the lag time will appear as typed. I dont know how to explain any further. Anyone experienced this issue? Any solution? Thanks!
Check for rogue apps that could be slowing you down or next I would back up any needed info from your external SD card then format it.
