Same here, although will try different modems to see if I can get better reception

I had 4.3 stock battery was amazing then 4.4.2 horrible so I had to root to fix it some roms have better battery life then others only use the stock slot I've had 7 hours in screen time

I wish I'd stayed on 4.3

Yep. It's awesome.
I'm staying with Bean's ROM version 6 (on 4.3) and never look back or forward for that matter.

Stock 4.01 vs. 4.1.2 vs 4.2.2

Hi
I am considering updating my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 currently running 4.04, but I am usure about which version to chose. I prefet stock roms. And I can see that they either offer 4.1.2 or 4.2.2.
4.1.2 is fastest/best? From what I can read 4.2.2 makes it very slow
Try them all. You won't know till you've tried then yourself .

4.2.2 is terrible. Do not upgarde to it. Everything is very laggy and slow - I am evem having random reboots from time to time.

I recommend 4.1.x , coz it's best
Sent from my GT-P3100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If you must stay stock, I would stick to 4.1.x.
As for me I would prefer a CM rom, just to get rid of the crapware and the speed improvements.
Cm ROM is actually really stable I'm on 4.3

4.1.1. 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 are slower and buggy.

My tab 2 came with 4.0.3 and it was laggy as hell but after i updated to the official 4.2.2 for france ( the only official 4.2.2 on sammobile ) it's much more stable and fluent ....

i have cm 10.1.3 (4.2.2 android version) and im totally satisfied by its performance. My 3110 is way faster than in stock 4.1.2 due to all these preloaded useless apps that i dont need them. I havent found any drawback compared to stock 4.1.2
4.3 only if you don't want stock. Its fastest custom rom. But from stocks 4.1.2.
All these ROMs sucks,,,,I am on slimbean 4.3.1,,this is pretty much fast,,,

porting a note3 rom to note 2014

its been awhile since I've done any work on a rom I used to do some stuff with MIUI. What I did with that was mostly simple stuff from phone to phone. The question is if I wanted to port a note3 ROM over to my new 2014 what would I need to change besides the kernel, the build.prop I just can't figure out what else?

If it's Kitkat you're after you're out of luck... The note 3 needs updated bootloader to run KK, and once upgraded there's no going back to JB...
Id love to see an AOSP ROM

Uhm there are dozens of note 3 Kitkat custom roms he could port, and he obviously knows that. Don't waste space with non productive dribble.

And each of them use the KK bootloader... Not non-productive dribble (drivel) if its actually relevant unless you want to test and see if the Note 3 KK bootloader won't brick your lovely expensive toy...
Maybe you should check things out before spouting non relevant drivel....

The Canadian note 3 can flash back because of fewer restrictions. No reason to assume the tablet is more secure when that is never the case.

True the Canadian Note 3 has looser restrictions but that is a VERY small percentage of Note 3's in the world.
Based on the statistics this does not bode well for the International version either exynos or qualcomm...
I'm not assuming the P60* series is completely locked down but I tend to look at worst case scenarios then work around that.
My job tends to revolve around that so there's no nasty surprises and people ending up dead.... This bleeds through to all facets of my life...
After the KK bootloader is released we will have KK roms... Why try out questionable roms that may or may not work on/brick your device...
Does this seem rational to you?
Fairly, Im certain he wouldn't release a port that he hadn't tested. And the rom itself can be flashed separate from the boot loader once we hare the 4.4 boot loader for ours, and rather I believe he intended a non KK rom. however if after 4.4 releases he chooses to its Just a matter of getting the original dev's permission then if a direct port isn't possible checking the dev's change log and replicating it as thoroughly as possible.

danvdh's version is also great, no problems installing and running. Camera works well too.

I'm using jamal's rom for two weeks now and got two minor bugs. Twitcasting app doesn't work in stock kernel. But I installed Alucard's one and now it's OK. But another more annoyance thing happened 4 times or so: the screen in which you accept or decline incoming calls vanished when receiving one call and I wasn't able to open it anymore. Only after rebooting the device.

4.4.3 is coming this month, it's mostly bug fixes.
You should be more excited for 4.5 (Lollipop) which is coming this year.

Sorry guys. Have been super busy. I'll be going out of town soon for a while. When I get back I'll give a try.
I'll keep ya posted.
So, if you're rooted, you won't get the update? I got 4.4.2 while rooted.

rooting alone has nothing to do with getting, or not getting updates.
I went from 4.3 to 4.4.2 rooted, and everything.
What matters is things like /system changes, recovery, and sometimes kernel (if it changes).
And even recovery is not really an issue (at least with twrp), you just boot into twrp, find the ota update in /cache, and manually flash it, clear caches, reboot, easy peasy.
As for /system changes, just flash a stock system.img, get the update, and you're golden.
Or you can just wait till someone releases a flashable 4.4.3 and use it.

If it's not a build.prop edit, it's very curious and interesting. Maybe can you dump your ROM and upload it for inspection ?
It's a DEB device, so it sounds great

Any chance you might flash the 4.4.2 factory image, then grab the 4.4.3 update again and pull the update URL from the logcat so we can all enjoy?

Moving a ROM to a different slot in safestrap 3.75

So I'm currently running my note 3 with hyperdrive rom in the stock slot and alliancerom in rom slot 1, due to not setting up alliance properly and wanting to move some things around i'd like to move hyperdrive to stock slot 1, install a base nc2 standard android onto stock slot (so its properly stock haha) and then install a slim rom on slot 2. my question is, can I just do a full backup of stock slot, and then restore it to slot 1, i mean its kind of like copy paste but obviously things aren't always that simple, so would this work? Or how could I move my ROM without completely re installing it. thanks guys!
First off I believe they say the rom slots don't work properly so I would suggest just finding the rom you want to use and install it on stock slot and leave the rom slots alone but if you want to use them I'm sure just making a backup of the roms then installing them where you want won't hurt.

I assume they work because I have a rom in rom slot 1 that works, granted I haven't used it for more than 10 hours or so combined but it works...
I could be wrong but I believe there are wake lock issues causing bad battery life.

Ah damn, oh well I guess its just easier to leave my daily driver in the stock slot, I want to install another rom to a rom slot, I'll honestly be using it like 1 hour per month or something so I dont care about battery life at all, would this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768055 work on my phone which is running an NC2 rom right now, the rom says its nc4 but i'm not sure if there is a previous version.
Yes you can. There's a nc2/nc4 kernel out there somewhere but can't remember where. I'm at work right now but when I get a chance I'll look around.

Few questions here, so when I go to the biggins rom page it says that if you were coming from NC2 / MJE you would install a different md5 than the one you linked, also what would happen if i just tried to install the nc4 objective rom right now into one of my rom slots, worst case scenario it just wouldnt boot and i could go back to recovery and change back to one of my nc2 roms right?
I don't believe there's a big difference in nc2 and nc4. They are both able to be rooted so I would just upgrade to nc4 (be careful that it doesn't upgrade you to 4.4.4 after you upgrade to nc4) and be done with it.

Well I want to use my hyperdrive NC2 still as daily driver, but I want to try out the objective nc4, I just flashed objective onto rom slot 2 and it booted but it didnt work it seems, as though it still has all my data from the other rom, guess that doesnt work haha. And it crashed com.android.phone and the os after a while.
I just breezed through hyperdrive's thread and there's nothing in there that says anything about being on nc2 or nc4. Just that you need to be on 4.4.x kitkat.
