Official Theme and Customization Thread for Runnymede AllInOne by Sebastiaan15

Hey everybody,
Because the original ROM thread for Sebastiaan15's amazing Runnymede gets flooded and spammed with theme-related questions, themes and problems to skins and customization, it has been suggested to start a new thread to discuss all these things in one place.
So let's do this here and feel free to share and participate
How to change themes, ready to flash themed ROM-zips and various themes can be found in 3rd Post on this site Enjoy!
I've also tested several kernels with AIO 2.2 and published the results here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19514860#post19514860
Good idea, keeps the other thread cleaner.
Great thats what i´m talking about, so first of all:

If you read the tutorial and follow the steps, your modded rom should work.
If i forgot something pls let me know and now have fun ^^.
Don´t flash the zips from the desire hd threat
Flashable Theme.zip´s now availabel. Look on bottom of the post !!!
--------------------------------------------------------
Include theme into Rom.zip:
1. Download the ROM zip file.
2. Download the desired theme
3. Move the files from the zip theme to the ROM zip:
a. /system/app to /sd-ext/app_s
b. /system/framework to /sd-ext/framework_s.
4. Copy the NEW ROM in your SD and flash it like a new ROM.
On STOCK Hboot is the framework on system and app_s on sd-ext
With 7zip you can easily open the zip files without extracting and copy the new files into the rom.zip.

Include theme after Rom flashing:
You can adb them in, or put them in the rom before you flash.
Or you can use QtADB, if you are not so familiar with adb or have your rom allready configured,
there you have an explorer and you can easily change the files after flashing.
1. Boot to recovery (volume down & power) and mount your sd-ext/system folder, depends on Stock/Cm7r2 HBoot.
2. Use QtaDB to copy the files to your device. Doing this form recovery is saver then from running device.
you get QtADB here http://qtadb.wordpress.com/download/
You may have to give the new files the rigth permissions, same as the old files have, if you copy them into the booted device.
Use Root Explorer and long press on the new files.
Then you can change the permissions otherwise your rom crashs.

one question... i extracted files from framework...than should i put these files into the ROM.zip's framework_s folder and replace existing files.... or make a sd-ext folder in theme.zip and in that make framework_s folder than put files in to ....
I've tried both.. didn't worked..
by 1st method I got stuck on boot screen
by second method just got wallpaper and icon folder on SD card...otherwise no change at all...
So please write the step by step procedure by mentioning the directories and the zip files...
Thanks all

I have tried it several ways as well, and I'm unclear which files to copy (e.g. all of the files in the the theme zip or just the framework ones)...

If you are going to do a fresh install just download a theme.zip, unzip it and copy the files from the system\framework\ folder into the sd-ext\framework_s\ folder of your rom.zip.
Do the same with the stuff from the system\apps\ folder to the sd-ext\apps_s\ folder.
Then just flash it as usual.
If you already have a ROM installed, just push the according files into these folders. I guess using Root Explorer might work, too.
But havn´t tried either.
Flashable Runny AIO Download link is addet to 3rd post.
Just a question if you are on stock hboot can u simply flash the theme .zip files ? Or do i have to do same steps as cmr72 users ?

On Stock Hboot the frameworks folder is still in system, but the apps are in sd-ext/app_s. So you can´t flash the .zip files, you´ll have to move the apps to sd-ext/app_s.
If you take a closer look into the theme.zip and the rom.zip you´ll now what to do.

One more thing which is scratching my head...
How is this possible to just put only TWO file instead of META INF, SYSTEM, DATA etc.. into ROM's framework and get complete THEME..
If a theme.zip is completely used to flash then how is this possible with just two files...
NULLINGER??? got some idea?????

It should look like this in the framework_s folder
this is my themed v5.0 framework folder
And if you wish to have the apps themed as well , you have to put the apps from them folder system/app -----> sd-ext/app_s
This should work
Edit: In OtADB you have 2 explorers, one shows your system and the other your phone.
You can drag & drop files from system to any folder on your phone.

Buddy all folders are there and they are getting created perfectly...
Please follow the on screen instructions of the script...
Superb tool, many thanks for your work on this!
When diff -ing smali files, I'm confused, do I merge from right to left or vice versa? The file on the left is the original MIUI file, so I add from the left?
Many thanks again.
Peace
Edit: if Miui is on left and CM file is on the right, then I add content from CM file, i.e right -> left? Right?
When diff ing You always add stuff to your miui... not the other way around...
The next version will try to make it a lil easier..
Yeah the folders are still not there, I am following the directions, so I guess I am unlucky.....
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
What do you mean the folders are not there?? As I said the script explains itself... so you should just follow it...
Cm n miui folders are created 1 after the other... so when the script stops n tells you to extract a particular zip, its waiting for u to extract it... then it checks it n then the other folder is created...

Hi! Great tool, but can I port MIUI on my stock Sense-based ROM?

[MOD] Mods for odexed Stock ROM / official JellyBean XXLSZ

Hi guys,
as promised some days ago, I will provide Mods now for odexed Stock ROM XXLSZ.
Why? Because lots of people don't want to flash deodexed (Custom) ROMs for different reasons (odexed feels snappier or still want to be able to update via OTA or too much risk or whatever...)
Usually all Mods (like 4-Way-Reboot, Ink Effect, unlimited Apps for Multiwindiw, etc.) are ONLY made for deodexed ROMs - so you guys on odexed never benefit of these great customizations.
Now this will change and I will provide some of these Mods - as my time is limited, I will do this step by step.
Prerequisites:
- you have to be on odexed Stock ROM XXLSZ (e.g. flashed via KIES, ODIN or Mobile ODIN)
- you have to be rooted
- you have a working CWM Recovery installed
Installation Instructions:
- download flashable zip and copy on your SD-Card
- boot in CWM Recovery
- select and press 'Install Zip'
- select and press 'Choose zip from sdcard'
- select and press the flashable zip (e.g. '4WayReboot_odexed_XXLSZ.zip)
- select 'YES - Install 'nameof.zip'
- Mod will be flashed

Don't you normally loose the feature of OTA updates when rooting with another Kernel (with CWM)?

I am not sure tbh...but you can have root with stock kernel and also CWM recovery running....the way Philz provided

- When I used MO when installing XXLSA I injected Root/CWM but was able to make the update to XXLSC with OTA.
- But when I install a Philz Kernel and activate the Software Updates I get the info that the kernel was changed (blablabla) and OTA isn't possible anymore.
So I guess that using the Mods by rooting the feature OTA shouldn't be important for a user.
I don't see why someone should bother if he have already done something like this - you simply download from Sammobile and you are GTG.
And yes - if you flash Philz you cannot do OTA.
eybee1970 - AWESOME!
Great support for odexed ROM.
Thanks alot eybee..

Hy eybee, is it possible to know the procedure,? I have been trying to do this myself but always end in boot loop? How did you Odex the file back? In the phone or pc?
updated OP with Ink-effect
does it still say after flashing the zip "android upgrading" after every restart?

you have to be VERY careful in odexing back! It does NOT work when you take a given jar with all mods included and trying to odex back --> ends up in bootloop as you know (though you will no see any errors in odex back process!). So you have to start modding from scratch...
Got it... Flashed it and works perfectly... Is there a way to go back to normal reboot options(no 4 way reboot)

Yes. I am doing it from scratch by using the services.odex
. So while smaling back, I covert it to classes.dex?

just use the tool --> 2. Decompile all Odex --> then do the smali editing --> then 4. Deodex all --> then rename to classes.dex in Folder 7. --> then take original jar, open with WinRAR (or 7zip) and copy classes.dex inside --> then move this jar to Folder 01 modded files --> put original jar and odex in Folder 02 original files --> do 5. Reodex All --> in Folder 03 odexed files you'll find the modded files ready to flash

Airview is already build in second mod...not for gallery but the general one...just did not mention
EDIT: I will do some mods for apps also, but will do that with deodexed apps, as some apps make trouble to reodex (did not find proper solution til now...)
The script in flashable will contain commands then for deleting the associated .odex file - but there will always be a 'Undo Mod' so you can easily restore to stock, if you don't like

[Script] Delete unwanted apps

From the time I had HTC HD2 i use a script for deleting unwanted apps.
This script should be installed from custom recovery (works flawlessly with TWRP 2.6.3.4) like any app or kernel.
After script execution clear cache/Dalvik and reboot.
If any of the apps updated, then the updated apps will be in data/app and needs deleted from there as well.
Apps list may vary depending upon the particular firmware.
Using this script as example you may add/remove any apps in updater-script inside archive according to your needs.
List of apps I delete from /system/app (currently running Cataclysm ROM):
- BasicDreams
- Books
- Calculator (I use Calculator Mem Lite)
- Drive
- GenieWidget
- GoogleEars
- GoogleEarth
- GoogleHindiIME
- GoogleHome (I use Nova Launcher Prime)
- GooglePinyinIME
- GoogleTTS
- HTMLViewer
- iWnnIME
- iWnnIME_Kbd_White
- Keep
- KoreanIME
- LiveWallpapersPicker
- Magazines
- Music2 (I use WinAmp and PowerAmp)
- PlayGames
- PlusOne
- Stk
- Street
- Videos
P.S. I am not responsible for any damage to you phone, you do it on your own risk.

How exactly do we add apps to the list to delete? I see the folder contains the recovery script but no list from which to edit. Do we just use 7zip, create a folder within the zip, then add apk names???? I miss having ROM Cleaner from my Evo LTE and have been looking for a suitable replacement on the Nexus 5. This way I don't have to keep waiting for the same 20 apps I delete from SlimKat to convert to ART when dirty flashing lol.

Unpack archive, in /META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script make your changes, save, use 7Zip->save->archive format:zip, compression level:Store->press OK, that's all.
Thanks I think I got it. I used Notepad++ to edit the script. I added some priv-app apks too. Will that cause any issues? I just changed /app/ to /priv-app/ in the code.

You may view content of /system/app by Root Explorer on your device before.
And yes, you use right editor!
Thank's for sharing this ! Aweosme ! Every time, I was doing it with Titanium Backup xD
Just a curious question, was does happend if the app doesn't exist in the system ? Example 'delete("/system/app/Test.apk");' but Test.apk doesn't exist, does that change something ? I don't think so but just wanted to ask before I will try tomorrow
Thank's !

Don't worry, if file doesn't exist, that does change nothing!
Thanks, useful script!
Can I take the same files (the folder META-INF) for Nexus 7 2013 ? Or I need to replace it by one in a rom for N7 ?
Thank's !
EDIT : I just saw this line in the updater-scrpit '#This script for Nexus 5 ONLY!' I will see how to do it on Nexus 7 !

Yes, you can use META-INF folder.
Mount line for Nexus 7 (2012) will looks something like:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/APP", "/system");
But it seems that N7 2013 has same partitions structure like N5, so this script should fit Nexus 7 (2013) w/o any changes.
this script screw up my phone real bad.... i have to wipe everything and flash my ROM again, then restore my nandroid backup.
i don't know which part of your script is not compatible with my phone, multiboot or ART.

This script is absolutely compatible with usual Nexus 5, several guys used it w/o problems, it seems that the problem is multiboot. You can look inside - script absolutely correct mount system partition, removes unwanted apps from /system/app, unmount system, that's all. Probably multiboot uses another partition structure unlike one-system phone.

this has to be the best feature to date in my opinion.
i could test out other roms while maintaining my base rom intact.
i'm not having any other problem except this one.
i just remembered i did disabled some of the apps that i'm not using. maybe this is the reason it screwed up.

Don't think so, I tend to think that multiboot is a reason.

Why not just mount system partition with busybox? Then it works on any device.

[MOD] Flashable ZIP template - ANY DEVICE

Hi,
Here is a flashable ZIP template. This is just an empty zip file that you can put anything that you want and will write it to /system. This mod is good if you want to change SystemUI's or something. It will not contain a ROM. This is just adding APK's to ROM's, Frameworks, Libraries, Bootanimations or other things found in /system
GUIDE -
Want to personalize it a little? Here is a quick guide.
What you will need
- NotePad++
1 - Download Flashable ZIP template
2 - Extract it
3 - Go to META-INF/com/google/android/
4 - Right click on 'updater-script' and open with NotePad++
5 - You can only change code line of the text in red ''ui_print("blahblahblah");''
6 - Once editted the test in the UI print tags save it and close
7 - To add things to flash go to /system
8 - Add the file you want in its specific directory* e.g. - Applications go in /system/app and frameworks go in /system/framework and Boot Animations go in system/media
9 - Once done, select both META-INF and System Folder and right click and select 'send to > compressed zip folder
10 -You are all done!
Download -
http://d-h.st/E5n - Don't say thanks. Hit that button
You can use this without credits just giving something back to XDA
Press thanks if this helped. Will do other guides too

So it is designed? or is only a text? I mean is this for people who don't know how to create a updater_script? Or it is a designed updater_script for all of'em?

All UI prints can be editted. It doesnt matter. I just put them as the text of what is being installed beneath it.
