why is my back power button light not working on any rom except roms based on stock LG?
is it supposed to be this way? is it off by default?
Simple answer:
Lg made the phone so lg Roms work 100%. Anything else comes at a cost.
That rear light is part of that cost. ?
But its on the back...so I never see it

Hi all,
I'm getting an HTC Magic (I don't have it yet), but it comes with the 3 mp camera, wich I really don't like. The thing is, the camera is easy to replace according to the service manual, and the kernel source brings the possibility to choose between the 3.1 and the 5 mp camera, so I'm trying to find one on the internet to replace the original when it comes. Does anybody know of some place where I could find spare parts for it? (some service center or chinese manufacturer who has spares)
The silly question is also related to the camera, but differently. The question is, does the magic has the typical leds on the front indicating network /bluetooth/wifi/ gps status? (those lights that light orange when charging, flash on green when there's network coverage and stuff). I'd really want to get it some kind of led flash for the camera...
Regards!
www.cnn.cn is one ive used for some parts of htc diamond, i have had no trouble with this website.
it doesnt have any parts for the magic though, but that could be just a matter of time.
but is it really possible to replace the cameramodules? thats really interesting.
Thanks! I'll keep an eye on the following weeks, maybe I'm lucky and they get stock soon
BTW, the camera module can be detached from the assembly by disconnecting a simple connector. I assume the 5mp camera is of the exact type to make it easier to assembly both variants at htc. Then it's a matter of entering or a boot parameter to the kernel, or simply hack the kernel so it always use the 5mp one .
About the flash, I think I might use the trackball led, if it's easy to access and I get room for the wires in there (everything is pretty tight and I don't want to screw too much with the phone just yet -it's less than a week old after all-)
Regards!
In the process of trying to fix my sister's Mytouch 3G 1.2(Headphone jack, not Fender), I picked up another Mytouch 3G(No headphone jack, not Fender) thinking I'd use it for parts(I was thinking the antenna might be bad, it was pretty beat up). Seeing as my sister's seems to have actual hardware problems rather than software, I was looking into what it would take to fix up this other one either for reselling or using, and I'm trying to figure out if this one has hardware problems or if it might have been a failed flash or something.
What it does:
When you try to turn it on, if you hold the button down, the power LED will flash amber a varying number of times, then do absolutely nothing until you take the battery out and put it back in.
No fastboot, recovery, or 'blue light mode'.
My thoughts:
This could either be a hardware failure somewhere in the phone, or it could possibly be a particularly bad flash of either the radio or the bootloader(I'm not entirely sure which is responsible for what). I'm just looking for somebody else's opinion on whether this might be a hardware failure or a software(User) failure.
If anybody has the equipment and is willing to take a shot at fixing this, I would be happy to pay you to take a shot at it, if it might end up cheaper than the $24-ish it would take for me to get the JTAG gear myself.

Press the trackball in and press the power button. If the LED goes blue its a firmware problem and should be repairable via JTAG (if that's the only issue). If you don't get the LED the board is shot.

Nope, just more amber flashing. No hope for it, then? Ah well. Thanks for the second opinion.
Hello,
I am new here and hope to find an answer to a problem i have with my Acer A500.
I am very happy with this tablet but when i wanted to do some video call with Skype i notice than my front camera doesn't work.
I get a green screen with a lot of noise and sometime its like i see some of my icons of my home page but a lot bigger.
Does anybody have the same problem, i want to have it fix in the shop but only when i am certain it is a hardware problem.
I don't want to miss my tablet for several weeks.
A factory reset did not make any difference.
Hey, sorry to hear that your front cam isn't working. I haven't heard of any similar issues lately. What version of Android or ROM are you using? Are you rooted? Ever dropped your tablet or anything? And lastly, have you tried using the front cam in another app such as the stock camera app? It could be a problem with Skype.
Camera
I am using Android 3.2 and my tablet is not rooted.
I am very careful with the tablet and didn't drop it.
I read somewhere that sometimes the camera socket can come lose ?
The stock camera app also doesn't work.
So, many it is just a hardware problem and i should bring it back to have it fixed.
Thats odd that you have that problem, because i have almost the same one, only thing is im rooted on cm9, and it does it on my rear facing camera....kinda something to think about
That's why i am not convinced that this is a hardware problem.
I am waiting for Android 4.0 to see if this will bring a sollution, if not i have no alternative than bring it back to the shop to have it repaired.
Maybe it is just a lose connector but it is strange that nobody has a sollution
Can anybody show me or tell me if i can check the connection with the front camera.
Is it easy to reach it when i open de back of the tablet.
Best and easiest thing to do is a factory restore, do that, and if it is still having the issue then send it in.
camera
I did a factory restore but nothing changed, so i agree that i will have to bring it back.
I just hoped for a quick fix thru software.
Thanks.
Problem + ICS install
I got ICS today everything worked fine after installation except ... the front camera.
So it definately time to go back to the shop.
This is regarding a LG G2 with G3 cloudy ROM.
Hey guys. So my wife recently got stung by a bee, and subsequently threw her phone up in the air, and it landed nicely onto the driveway lol. Needless to say, the screen shattered. So i ordered a new screen online, and after installing it, it works fine upon power up, but as soon as i sleep the screen and turn it back on, the screen it all white with lines and is not functional. I also noticed that the ear speaker was not working.
I requested a replacement screen since i figured it was a defective screen, although the replacement is also doing the same thing. So i put on the original screen, and i am able to sleep the phone and awaken the phone, without any issues.
I read online somewhere that this could be an issue with the ROM? If that was the case, wouldnt it effect the original screen as well? This is not my video, but the phone does the same exact thing:
Apparently i cannot post any outside links. But basically the guy turns the phone on, everything works fine, as soon as it times out and he wakens the phone, everything is white with lines going up and down.
Any ideas what i can do to fix this? Quite frustrating!
thank you!
anyone?
That's a kernel issue. These phones are made with two different types of panels one is JDI and I don't remember the other. I had the same thing happen once. The newer kernels have an auto detect built in to flash the correct type. You didn't mention which version of Cloudy you're on, so I can't tell you exactly which kernel to flash. In recovery flash the Dorimanx kernel appropriate for your version KK or LP and it will fix the issue.

No, I've never seen that problem. I haven't heard of anyone having that issue either.
JDI display
I also have that problem.
I've tried the Panel Swap zip to change the panel to JDI, but it doesn't Work.
I also tried different kernels. If the screen goes to sleep the white lines reaper.
Please help.
I have had a Samsung LED case since I first bought the S7E back in 2016. It still works well but only with official Samsung firmware versions.
I can understand that their is some proprietary code in there to detect the cover, but on the custom ROM I'm currently using, not even the open and close function switches the screen on and off.
I was wondering how difficult it might be to incorporate the relevant Samsung routines into a custom ROM to give either
a) Screen on /off when the cover is opened and closed
or
b) the above plus full LED functionality as experienced in Samsung firmware.
I'm not a dev, but it may assist others to implement such features.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
